  • What is the cheap and good 60" TV available? No 3D is needed.

    • I have purchased 3 of the Sony 60" no 3D TV's for work and they are great :-) http://www.jbhifi.com.au/tv-lcd-led-plasma/sony/60-bravia-lc…

      • I am thinking this Sony or Samsung series 6 LED which a bit cheaper.

So 15% off on the original price or on $1,496?

        • I just bought one of these too. It arrives tomorrow.

Sale excludes Sony, you can get the Samsung ES6500 though

        • Oh too bad, they don't list the ES6500 60" on their site now.

Originally thinking the Samsung series 8 Plasma but too many people complain the buzzing sound, make me a bit worry. Also a bit worry the screen may too dark in bright environment.

          http://www.samsung.com/us/support/SupportOwnersFAQPopup.do?f…

        • I have a 59" series 8 plasma. I can hear a little buzz when I turn it on but when watching something on normal sound level I can't hear it.

        • I have an E8000 Samsung 60" plasma.. there is a slight buzz but you have to literally sit 5cm away from the TV to hear it. At normal distance plus sound from the TV you can't hear it at all.

        • Will the screen too dark if I open up all the curtain in sunny day?

        • If the room is bright and tv facing a window dont buy a plasma. I have 7 series plasma and i love the pq but i have to keep my curtains closed all the time.

        • I went there to see it today and asked the guy if he could turn the brightness higher and found that it was already 100%.

So that's not good but the guy said he can give 15% off $1996 which become $1696.

    • Also, Videopro have the Sharp lc60le631x for only $1,391.50- http://www.videopro.com.au/p-6149-sharp-60-lc60le631x-led-lc…

    • Yes. Starts tomorrow though (for the discounts not already announced in other deals).

      • Sometimes the website sale goes live the evening before. Don't forget you can also click and collect although accurate stock listing can be an issue with that.

any good laptop deals people found?

  • I hope this sale applies for Game of Thrones season 2 on Blu-Ray.

    • +1

Not excluded from sale - might be able to take advantage of their buy GoT2 and get another HBO title for 50% off as well…

Great price on the Wharfedale 150W subwoofer if anyone is still searching for a sub to fill the cheap 5 speaker packs from last year.

    • Exactly what I've been waiting for, thanks!

  • perfect time to get a camera? im goin on our honeymoon in april 15 to LA and Hawaii. would like to buy a camera. any suggestions? i was told either the Canon EOS 60D or the Nikon D7000. i have no idea about cameras though.

    • +11

Don't rush into it. An SLR with interchangeable lenses is not necessarily the answer. Particuarly if you want something convenient to carry around and don't want to invest in decent lenses.

Plenty of more compact cameras (Sony NEX range, M4/3) offer excellent quality and are more compact, although don't have some of the depth of field of highest image quality that SLRs can offer

Similarly even the latest point and shoots can be all you need unless you have an interest in learning about aperture, shutter speeds, ISO etc.

Suggest you think about your needs and your budget and write on a dedicated forum asking for advice :)

As a user of a dSLR I suggest NOT to getting it for a holiday you should buy it as a hobby. if you buy it for good photos for travels you will spend more time mucking around with settings (if worst leaving it on automatic..), fustrated it wont take good/any useful photos at night and have a pain in your neck from carrying it all day (you will have plenty of those after the honeymoon).

if you are ok to spend a bit, you won't get anything better in compact and quality that the Sony RX100.
      http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/digital-cameras/digital-compa…
10% off is good for local stock BUT at the start of the year they had 15% off and from there I got it to $600, So if you can get close to that it will be good. the quality of image is almost as good as my dSLR and fits in my pocket. And the automatic mode on it is flawless with snaps (I'm ashamed to say..), the high ISO (3600) is just amazing.
YOU WILL NOT REGRET BUYING THIS CAMERA, it is just hard to part with your money for it but if is worth it if you want good photos.

    • You soon get sick of hauling a slr around when travelling. :-(
Friends have just returned from an OS holiday and all they used was a good android mobile phone camera with a quality micro sd card in it. The pictures (650 plus) and movies are impeccable, so you do not have to spend a fortune to have good memories.

      • Couple of years ago I bought had an Olympus 30x super-zoom camera for my U.S. and it was small enough to carry around. The camera could zoom into a person's face from the back row at a theme park. Not sure what their latest version is but it was very impressive for the size.

I was 'laughing' at all the people hauling around their massive SLRs and changing lenses all the time. Holiday pics, it's not like your going to send them to Print Press.

Wow, it's up to 40x now:
        http://gizmodo.com/5937070/olympuss-new-40x-superzoom-camera…

    • I'm with the others regarding thinking about SLR and considering other options. I am a SLR user and have found that I'm carrying my D700/D300 less and less and favouring my EP3 and J1 a lot more.

If you serious about a DSLR you cannot go wrong with either the 60D or the D7000… go for the one that feels best in your hands. If you think you may get sick of the size and bulk then have a look at the NEX6 and the Olympus OMD.

I cannot recommend the RX100 though….. I have not been impressed by its image quality…. Too many pixels in such a small area means the lens struggles and you pay a step price when the light levels drop. It is unique in the sense that it does provide a big sensor

      • …. in a tiny body. It really had no competitor but I feel that it's price tag means it should be competing with mirrorless cameras (larger sensors), the canon g1x (larger with a much larger sensor) and the Fuji X10 (smaller sensor, slightly bulkier)….all of which provide better low light abilities. I wanted to like the RX100 but sadly it had not impressed me….. I work in the photographic industry and get to play with pretty much everything as it comes through.

  • Not sure if this price includes the Weekend Sale 40% off or not..

    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/home%20theatre/speakers/wharf…

Anyone noticed if the prices have been updated today? There's some fancy background price checker website available that an OzBargainer created but I've lost the URL..

      http://mildsurprise.com/item.php?item=3719e8de361cd968df24ec…

Looks like it already includes the price drop (was updated on 10th March)

      • That's the site I was looking for, thank-you.

    • I'm pretty sure that is the discounted price, as Google cache shows the price of $417

      • I sent the query to JB but I knew I would get a much faster response from OzBargainers :D

Excludes tablets :( Actually when you click on the sale banner to view range the atom dockable tablets are there but the prices don't seem to be reduced. Hp envy x2 cheaper at thegoodguys at the moment. Have been deciding between the Asus vivotab tf810c, hp envy x2 and samsung 500t, hoping for a good discount on one of these but no go here.

  • Other than this deal (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/50890), am I likely to ever see Band of Brothers/The Pacific Bluray on sale for $45? With 20% off JBHiFi's price will be $75.99 (http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/dvd-genres/western-war/ba…) and if no one objects I might just grab it.

    • That's a HBO title, so if you're looking at getting Game of Thrones Season 2, you might be able to get it for half price…

      • Go on?

I've never watched GoT so I might be tempted by season 1 but I'd probably just sell season 2 to someone who would watch it.

          See here:

          http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/dvds-on-sale/hbo-offer.ht…

(Banner at the top), though that particular title you linked to isn't listed on those pages… couldn't hurt to ask in store though.

        • Hmm, it does say selected. If I'm there I might ask but I'm not going to make a special trip to jb to check it out. Kulprit posted a better deal that has come up twice (as recently as last month) so I'll wait for that. Cheers though aeon

    • +1

This deal is the one you want to wait for
      http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/93873

      Has been on twice already

      • Oh sick, thanks! I'll be waiting out for that, I'm in no rush.

  • 60d and the 47" pana…dont mind if i do :)

  • 20% off guitars is pretty nice too.

I picked up a bargain deal on my head and cab four months ago when JB did a '20% off all musical equipment' weekend.

Sure, it's a limited range… but still damn cheap for what you're getting.

  • JB's website is as dead as a doornail right now.

    • Good to know I am not the only one having issues.

      • Looks to be back up with prices reduced - Blu Rays anyway.

  • When are they going to update the TV prices….

  • Dark knight returns bluray part 1 is only $10..

    http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/dvd/dvd-genres/animation/dark…

    • and Part 2 will $39.94 to make up for it ;)

Went to look at the Samsung 51" 3D plasma, JB price was $798 retail, after 15% was $678. Harvey Norman have it for $677. Got it from Harvey Norman as i wanted to get the itunes $20 buy one get one free.

    • Good deal. Always pays to shop around. Even whenon sale its not always the cheapest.

    • Just bought this set from JB for my father (online)…. surely I am not the only one who thinks that JB's 'credit card verification' process is flawed and unsecure for the customer? Scanning photo ID and a copy of Utility Bills??? What is this the dark ages of the internet? They need to sort that out sooner than later, not once have I ever needed to provide that kind of information in that way to any other online retailer.

      • Cancel and go elsewhere? That's too much hassle just to buy a TV. Alternatively, pay via PayPal using a credit card.

  • +1

Bought Samsung 60" UA60ES6500 for $1,700 at David Jones first asked them to match JB but the lady search shopbot and matched the cheapest online for me.

  • Nothing off externals. :(

Harvey Norman are doing $138 for their WD 3TB Elements, so people could try price matching and then trying to get an extra discount if they want.

i bought a Sharp Aquos 60 inch 60LC60LE640x from them last Sunday for $1842 (ticket price was $1998)…now the same model is sub $1700 during this sale…luckily the salesperson told me it was a 200Hz at time of sale (which it wasn't), so i took it back for a refund this morning…They didn't even want to price match the $1700..so too bad, they are now left with a used Sharp in their inventory + my Nexus 7 3G (since they said I had to return the whole lot to them)…If I was the store manager, i would seriously discipline the staff there…misleading selling, bad attitude at time of refund, and didn't want my business…it was like "take it or leave it" kind of attitude…

ended up ordering the LG 60LM6450 online instead…sick and tired of salespeople who don;t put customers 1st…

Oh, I forgot to add….I originally wanted the LG TV, but they didnt have stock, so hard-sold me the SHARP claiming it was comparable to the the LG. The Tv was suppposedly:

      1. 200hz. I checked the webiste after buying and was disgusted at being duped to by a 100Hz.
      2. had 1 pair of active glasess included (and were willing to give me a 2nd pair). I opened the box and the glases were "optional"….so duped there as well…
      3. and the SHARP had LAN only (no wifi)..the Wifi adaptor (if u could buy one, was like another $100)….

Extremely dis-satified…and i would have made a big scene in store this morning if they didnt refund me my money…

Picked up 2 $20 itunes card for $8 each. They price matched the HN bogof offer, and then took 20% off. Noice!

  • Was hoping to pick up a few blu rays tonight but that section of the website is frozen.

  • I thought this sale went until 12.
Not yet 12 and went to get some dvds and they are normal price.
