  • +1

COTD has a Samsung Portable USB 3 - 1 TB for drive for $90

    How do they compare?

  • Is this USB 3.0? Can't find in the product page.

  • This comes up to

    11.9GB/$

  • Anyone know RPM info?

  • Possible to pricematch at Officeworks? http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Dat…

Officeworks also has paypass terminals for ING bank customers.

    • pick-up is cheaper at hn with code ($63) else ow price-beat delivered ($64.60)

  • I dont think this is usb 3.0. It is upgradeable to 3.0 but it comes with 2.0.

    • A search of that particular model number seems to indicate it already comes with the USB 3.0 cable, even if the specs say otherwise.

  • The speed of this kind of drives mainly depends on which kind of base cable you use

There're 2 versions of this products-with or without cable. Need to pay attention to check in store or do a live chat to make sure with harvey norman sales.

It worth the money if come with the cable. But if it's the version without cable, you have no way to use it except you buy a cable separately. But now it's hard to find this kind of cable selling separately. Also the regular price of a USB3.0 cable is expensive at around $35.00. Very few Dick smith stores have USB2.0 cable for this drive $1.00 each, some office works has the same one $9.99 each. Officeworks once clearance this USB3.0 cable $19.99 each, sold out online, but possible some stores still have. But at $68.00 + 19.99, it's still not comparable to the $89.00 one selling at officeworks. That's a bundle of goflex PRO (quicker) with a separate retail package of USB3.0 base cable.

Plus officeworks online is much much more fast and reliable than Harvey norman's

  • FYI, guys, before you order

Bought one last night to be picked up in store. Then got an email this morning saying there's a delay of approxi. 7 days. The thing is, I'd checked there was stock at my local HN before I ordered. What the heck…

I've had that with them before. I don't trust Harvey Norman's website anymore.

    • Got mine. Ready for pickup in 3 week days. Drive is SATA 7200rpm. A USB 3.0 cable is included.

Bloke at HN Knox was super nice. So not a bad experience after all. :D

  • The code is not working - should it be @ HN?

  • can i take the internal drive out and use it in my macbook pro 15 inch 2010?

    • Different connector on Laptop drive to what they use now in the Portable drives

    • That's a SATA drive. I got a 7200rpm seagate monontus from the officeworks one. Not sure the speed of Harvey one, possibile 5400RPM.

  • Got e-mail this morning and go to pickup before to work. It is 7200rpm from my test report, come with a USB 3 cable for usb 2 and usb 3 connection. also come with 3 year warranty show on the box.
