  • wow thats amazingly cheap
approx 200 bucks saving from the 699 model
in my opinion i would never use 80gb for just saves xD
theres always a computer or external hard drive for media lol

  • dick smith would most likely price match which would take down to $475? 5%

still too expensive at double the price of a 360 arcade…

    • still.. it's a full blu-ray player as well!

    360's r crap though i have a 360 and a ps3 and ps3 wins at everything handsdown :)

      LOL!

maybe u need to mod ur 360!

      • u need to c the game trailers xbox vs ps3 comparsion vid clearly showing x360 beating ps3 in graphics

lol i don't think you have a clue what your talking about the ps3 is running off a far better graphic processor than the 360 lol The ps3 wins on all counts considering it dose not try to take your money by making you pay for addons that should be inbuilt and for live witch is free and awesome on ps3 :)

        • a picture tells a thousand words http://au.gamespot.com/features/6201700/index.html not a whole lot in it but the xbox360 slightly ahead in GFX comparisons.

          • @sonicentropy: lol kez55 have you had a look yet? You still think ps3 is better? :P

            • @neosin: Another comment here - since kezz55 made me laugh. :)

In terms of GPU performance, the 360 has a far more powerful graphics chip than the PS3. Sony made a huge mistake with the PS3, basically just adding their GPU as an afterthought. From what I can tell, the Cell processor is meant to help with the GPU - but they haven't quite got the hang of it yet. Maybe in time they will though! (I'm not saying the Cell processor itself isn't powerful - I'm just talking about the GPU here).

Kezz55…. I suggest you do a google search about the graphics power of the PS3 vs the 360.

Oh and I'm not a fanboy - I'm not a game player, just interested in the technology of the machines.

          • @sonicentropy: @sonicentropy - Didn't you notice that the feedback on that review is that most people think the graphics are pretty much identical and that most people on both sides of the console debate didn't care about the minor differences.

    • fanboy = kez55

    • I have 3 x xbox360s and one PS3 (two moives and one game) guess which one my two kids and I refer to the "big glossy black dust collector"

    • Take it from someone who has both consoles, as far as best games and best online game play the 360 Hoses the PS3, a few games I have tried on both consoles, xbox360 version is always better & more stable (mirrors edge, assassins creed, GTA) . My PS3 is mostly used for Blueray & little big planet.

  • Nice find

  • Great find.

Ah, kez55, have fun with your PS3. It's a shame about your opinion on the 360.

I'm just guessing it's denial in order to deflect buyer's remorse.denial in order to deflect buyer's remorse.

OK OK! enough of this b!tching as to what console is better…is this actually a good deal compared to Christmas sales? Im sure the PS3 was available at JB HiFi and Domayne for $499 in late Dec.

    • nope it didnt.
PS3 was only $599 last Dec.

btw, dooes this include bonus game ?

  • umm from memory it was just The PS3 and a controller

  • They probably got them free. We did where i work, and you will notice other places bundling ps3s with tvs, coz they cost them nothing. HN would be making 100% profit off these but its an awesome deal!

  • Not a bad deal. Hard drive size is irrelevant as they are user replaceable and quite cheap to buy ($40 for 80GB or $100 for a 320GB). Some of the older 40Gb models ship with a sixaxis controller instead of a Dualshock 3 so might want to check that. Also I doubt you can get the free game deal. In every other respect this is identical to the 80GB model which costs $688. Just be aware many people in the industry are predicting a significant price drop for the PS3 in the next 2-3 months.

My housemate is under the impression that the 40Gb is gimped and can't play PS2 games..
You need to get the 80Gb version for PS2 emulation.. can anyone back that up?

    • Neither the 40 or 80 gig will play PS2 games, unless you are one of the lucky few to have an early 2007 NTSC 80 gig model that did have the emotion engine in it. Reason why the 60 gig models are gold on the market, personally its cheaper to get a new or second hand ps2 if you want to play old games rather then pay the ransom people want for second hand 60 gig models.
