PS5 Pro can be had for $949 via eBay . Personally I would stick to the base ps5 as I can't justify nearly double the price. Should run GTA 6 just fine as the trailer was captured on it

Yeah can always add on a disc to the digital, think it's around $80
I might go for the digital version as well. I'm not going to game an awful lot and i like the idea of no discs anyway… is the price for games much more?
@deck_oz: I suspected so. Is it a big difference? I can handle it if it's a slight difference. It's a bit mental that a game with a physical disc in 2025 is cheaper, with all the extra labour, shipping, handling, etc required is cheaper, but I guess they think they can charge more for the convenience.
@kiriakoz: Difference can be quite huge, digital is really only good if you go with the higher tier PS+ and just wait for games to become 'free' on those … Typically a lot more sales on physical media and sometimes quite substantial savings as well, also you own the game forever.
In saying that for xbox and Xbox on PC I have game pass and haven't bought a single physical game since early Xbox one days … That's the only time I would recommend digital only when you subscribe to a service like game pass ultimate.
It's just my opinion others may see it differently 🙂
@scud70: Thanks for sharing your opinion. I'm happy to take your opinion, you're clearly more knowledgeable than I am about this stuff. I really just want a PS5 for GTA VI, but if I have it for that, I may as well get other games to enjoy it too.

Get base ps5 for now, you can always upgrade later if you definitely feel you want pro.
i also feel like $528 isnt ATL but its so rock bottom i doubt you will have any problem getting like 80% of your money back when you want to flip it for a Pro
i'm also one who wants the disc drive but in reality, i'm not buying discs much at all so…
528 digial is far from ATL, slim disc ATL was $500 from ebay deal. well, it was gone within 2 mins, but a deal is still a deal.
honestly my suggestion will be buy one from marketplace in you local area, slim version 400 for digial and 450 for disc are resonable price. now you talk about getting XX% back when you upgrade. Many used one are in good condition unlike handheld. I've seen so many bought the pro without a proper tv, it was just a waste. 4k 60hz led tv, even 1080p tv. make sure to upgrade tv before considering pro.

I only got the PS5 Slim disc version instead of digital slim so i can play my large collection of 2K and 4K blu-ray movies/tv shows so it doubles as a 4K blu-ray player. All games i get is digital downloads.
Yeah, 2 new releases and it's already paid for itself + it can be used for 4K blurays + won't have to miss out on all the cheap physical game deals that get posted here. Easily worth it.

@HomeAlone: Oh why? Old model is supposed to worth more? I noticed it s being sold abt $500 in marketplace.
@Bargain-er: There's a jailbreak for the old model if on firmware 7.61 or lower.
The very last revision of the old model came with 7.61 out of the box so if you happen to find a brand new one that's never been connected online it's a guaranteed jailbreak.
Second hand ones you need to check to make sure it's on 7.61 (August 10, 2023) or lower.
