  • Dayum, good price for the product. But I still love my nexus 7 XD.

      • -3

Dayum, that iPad disappeared from all Apple stores like it never existed XD

  • +1

Wow, actually competitive with the Nexus at this price. That's kind of cool :)

    • +4

Are you serious? The price point for the apple 16gb with Wi-Fi grey import is similar to the nexus 32gb with 3g local stock? On what planet is that competitive?

      • Exactly.

      • +4

Most people get this for the access to itune app store which for some reason still better than the google play store.

      • +3

It's got a bigger screen and a smaller bezel. I'd pay more for that. Plus a working app store.

        • -1

Not meaning to start a flame war. But, My nexus 7 can slip into my side pockets. My mothers iPad Mini, cannot. Huge factor for me.

        • +3

You must have deep pockets. But wait? That can't be true, you bought a nexus…

  • +6

I recently got an iPad Mini, it's great. Dare I say, better than the big ones, it doesn't really seem so much smaller screen wise, but it is so light.

Shame about the shipping time delays though. This would be a good deal if you didn't have to wait 3 weeks.

  • This is a good buy, especially considering most people are estimating that a newer iPad mini is ~6 months away.

    • 2-3 months

The new Nexus 7 is almost certain to launch mid-May, and apple can't be too far behind for too long. There are even rumours that they will try to get in first with a refresh (April). Retina screens is almost certain - to not do so would be embarrassing.

      • Downvotes? For a précis of what's going on in tablets over the coming months?

        That's ridiculous.

Google will be coming out with a FullHD Nexus 7 in May, and apple dare not fall behind with the mini ipad - now their main tablet. Waiting till Oct will look bad, as will not delivering a retina display.

        None of that is contentious.

        • +2

          Wasn't me!

  • That is a great price. Shame it has no retina display

    • +1

ipad mini 2 will be armed with retina

  • This or 32gb

    • 32GB is the sweet spot. 16GB is not enough whereas 64GB is too much.

This is from personal experience using iPad as a content viewer, apps are getting really big now in the GB sizes.

  • +1

just bought one great price! thanks OP

  • That.Screen.
    Ukh. Can't do it.

  • Consider the warranty, I would go for the refurbitshed iPad Mini, same spec as well, but its from Apple store.

Just 319 shipped, pay 21 AUD, get AU stock warranty, seems worth it?

    • unfortunately it's out of stock

      • Orz…after post I just found it.

        Sorry about that = =a

    • +1

Apple have international warranties. They will cover the Kogan iPad in the exact same way as the cover an Apple Store iPad.

  • Don't suppose any store would pricematch Kogan?

    • +1

I got my Samsung Tab 2 10.1 price matched and bet by 5% from Officeworks. My advise is to find the most useless or old employee for your best chance of getting it matched

      • Hmm. Have tried two Officeworks stores - they're online only. Both stores said the phones should still be answered as online shopping is 24/7…but they're not.

    • -1

Why would any retailer match ghost stock? Same thing happened with scogans cheap phones. They never arrive.

      • I can't find anything about Kogan phones not arriving? I can find stuff about people cancelling their orders…

        Link?

  • Has anyone tried calling Officeworks 1300 OFFICE? i know for a fact that they price match with Kogan, but have been known to include a delivery fee. Just price matched an iPad 4 this week with OW.

Delivery is to your local OW.
Also means you get local warranty.

    • so how much did u pay for the ipad 4 in OW?

      • iPad 4 32GB Wifi + Cellular for $690.

That's from a local retailer with local warrantee. Mine was ready to pick up next day.

        • Hi, any chance you can provide a copy of your receipt? Thanks. PM me if you like.

        • +1

will post by sunday arvo. busy weekend.

        • Thanks, I can see myself ringing up one day and asking for a pricematch. I don't want to receive the excuse we don't match Kogan.

    • it's currently outside the hours, damn.

    • They should price match but will include any shipping costs and then beat by 5%

  • Nice price… Got myself a 32gb on the day of release used to have an iPad 3 this is so much convenient for travelling and has all the bells and whistles the bigger ones have (ofcourse not retina etc but does the job).

    Highly recommended!

Yeah meh, they are going to have 2 ipad mini in stock

      • +1

Hence "Never going to get that"

I've used both Android and IOS. As an end user, I find Android (like its name describes), is very robotic and very serious. On the other hand, IOS is more fun and always forgiving. It has got the human touch.

Of course, if you want speed, nothing beats Apple products. Android products are cheaper because you get less of it. You can talk about specs numbers and read out loud the adverts, but those selling points have no relationship to the end user experience.

    • Not true re: speed. The Nexus 4, 7 and 10 are all very very snappy. I'd say faster and smoother compared to the Apple equivalents.

But hey, both OSes are good in their own way.

      • Can't compare much else as I have always had Apple but I was surprised by the drastic improvement in speed between my iPad 2 and my iPad mini. It's significant in terms of load times of games.

        • +5

Really? The iPad mini has exactly the same A5 cpu, 512MB ram and resolution as the iPad 2 which makes me believe the mini has little to no improvement over the ipad 2 let alone a "drastic" improvement in speed. Maybe you need to restore your iPad 2.

    • +1

Its honestly Pepsi vs Coke at this stage. They have both copied off each other to the extent where now the differences are subjective and mainly stylistic.

I buy android devices mainly because you get more bang for your buck. If Apple devices were cheaper I would probably buy them.

      • +1

        Actually, this isn't the case.

The launcher/OS with Android is significantly more advanced and feature rich. In contrast apple have only changed in a minor way over the last 5 years.

Realistically apple's whole interface corresponds to just the app drawer element of Android.

    • completely opposite!
      but i like both.

  • Was thinking of one but ETA for delivery is 2-3 weeks. Too long! The iPad Mini S will be out by then lol.

  • +2

Personally I find ios very simplistic and boring. This is a good price compared to what is out there at the moment. I don't know about apple having more though, I find it the other way around, you can do a lot more with an android device, unless you jailbreak ios. Which is one advantage android will always have, the basic user can pick it up and it can do things that ios can't do out of the box.

  • Always a catch. IMO not a great deal if have to wait three weeks…

  • hey guys does anyone know if the Kogan's ipad mini's grey imports? and if so does that mean warrant is back to Hong Kong?

    • I've had some conflicting information about it..

Kogan says they're international, but come with Australian stuff. Apple said as long as it was official Apple stock, it should be covered by their Applecare warranty.

    • Yes it is a grey import. Always check the smaller font in the bottom right of the overview of the product.

"Apple Australia’s Jesse James told us that the one year limited warranty “applies to the hardware product manufactured by or for Apple that can be identified by the ‘Apple’ trademark, trade name, or logo affixed to it”.

Which means that original Apple gear – purchased in Hong Kong or the US or locally from Kogan, regardless of where that company sourced the stock – is supported under an Australian Apple warranty."

      • That was in 2011. It's changed now. Apple Australia's website now says it may matter where you buy it.

        • Plz give reference before saying something which ops are unaware of. And as far as I think, Apple's warranty will remain globally & will not matter where u bought it from

        • +1

          http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/products/ipad-english-a.…

Read after the bolded paragraph. It says, IMPORTANT RESTRICTION FOR iPHONE AND iPAD SERVICE.
Apple may restrict warranty service for iPhone and iPad to the country where Apple or its Authorized Distributors originally sold the device.

So it's a gamble really. It does say for iphone and ipad, so I guess macbooks have international warranty.

Seems like Apple likes to keep quiet on their warranty, http://www.theage.com.au/technology/technology-news/apple-ke…

  • +1

Ah these prices are getting lower, although I'm still waiting for a 2nd Gen, sometime…

  • -1

No your wrong its worldwide warranty regardless where you bought it, as long as you have the receipt, nothing has changed, apple never changed anything ever.

    • Apple says otherwise.

  • I've bought my ones on the same day but from Harvey Norman. I didn't know that Kogan sold this with much cheaper price. But I'm not sure if I would buy from Kogan I don't know where to go if something wrong happen to it.

  • Shipping notice received.

  • Does Harvey Norman price match Kogan?

  • just fyi i ordered on the 25th march and it got delivered today morning…so not really 3 weeks for delivery. I live in melbourne

    • I think they just put 2-3 weeks that so people stop calling them after 4-5 days.
