    color me skeptical but afaik no unauthorised 3rd party adapters have the ability to output audio yet. Say if i bought it and it doesn't work, am i entitled for a refund?

      I always thought we just use the headphone jack for sound?

        on the go, yes, but there's little point to connecting an iPhone to a speaker dock just to charge it.

  For AUDIO issue, is not mean it has a 3.5 plugs. Just mean this cable can transfer sound data as well

  Like say you put your iphone5 into a iphone4 docking system.

  Guys:

  I have done 2 testing now

  First test
  I tested on a old iphone docking: Doesnt able to pick up Audio. (CHARGE AND DATA TRANSFER OK)

  Second Test

  2012 Honda Jazz USB/Iphone connection
  Plug in via this adaptor, Audio pick up straight away and it will read thru all the songs from the iphone5.

  Hope this is a good reference.

  Conclusion: Very depends on the system that picks up the audio
