  • My guess is this is just a glorified emulator with a bunch of roms on it. Nothing your smartphone can't already do.

    • +6

but with real buttons! to me touch screen gaming is as full an experience as taking all your meals pureed and through a straw

      • Yep.. I can't play these things on a phone, I need tactile buttons man

        • Im thinking of selling my Xperia Play ……

  • These are $10 at Kmart on clearance. I bought a few to give away as presents.

  • When it runs out of battery, you'd lose your progress? No option to power it other than batteries?

    • Makes me wonder if you can finish a game with fully charged batteries?

  • Remember these are Game gear (master system level games) versions of the games, so they are pretty average by modern standards, even in comparison to the Sega Mega drive.

Also some Kmarts have these little consoles on clearance for $12 dollars (sorry saw mentioned above already), got one about 4 weeks ago from the Electroncis counter. It's wroth $10, but unless you ahve some hardcore memories to live it'll be ignored by you and kids alike pretty quickly. If emulation is your thing there are tonnes of emulator handhelds (and a Blaze one that takes SD cards to play Mega drive games) out there now that will play a tonne of different game systems and be able to save states etc.

  • If this had golden axe warrior i would so be over it like a dirty rash
edit - can you add games, root etc this device?

  • Hang on arent these illegal anyway?

  • For people interested in this you have several options:
    - Use your mobile phone, both Android and JailBroken iPhones can use emulators.
    - PSP can be hacked and used as an awesome portable emulator, it is the one I use.
    - Nintendo DS, I use to use this as a portable emulator. Certain hacks look really good, but it is a slow console so older emulated systems only.
    - A plethora of portable consoles of various quality including: Pandora, Caanoo, GP2X, Dingoo, Wiz, Zodiac, GP32

As for non-portable the options are even wider:
    - A PC can run many emulators, my media centre connected to my TV has many on, connected to Wireless XBox 360 Controllers.
    - Consoles, both Nintendo Wii and original XBox can play emulators, I don't personally know of any others that can.
