    Can't be the previous deal of $5 blu-ray and $20 box-set.

As usual, the only laptops that are worth any interest are "in store only", meaning there is no stock except for broken floor models. Gotta love the way Dick advertises what he doesn't actually have.

My partner and I were looking for a MacBook Air 11" with 128 hard drive, but no where had any in stock. Went to David jones and they price matched no problem. The sales guy checked the website and that was it.

    http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XC8628/samsung-xe700t1c-touc…

This is a pretty good price. Only one cheaper I know of is the deal on gumtree at $999 but who wants to buy off gumtree ads…

I don't understand how a so-called i5 "notebook" with only 64GB of storage (which is probably occupied by at least 20-30GB for Win 8) and with no dedicated graphics can be worth over $1000… :S

        1. Size & form factor. It's more of a tablet with a keyboard dock in the vein of the Asus Transformer and such rather than a notebook. It's also only ~890g without dock or 1.6kg with dock.
        2. Active digitizer.
        3. FHD screen.
  • Decent price for both the ATIV Smart PC Pro XE700T 64GB model at $1,119 and ATIV Smart PC XE500T at $699.

  • Slightly Off-topic, but I wish I was a Sony X member. Dick Smiths has the VE690 Sony surround system for $360 on sale. Sony X has it for $250.

There isn't much here that springs out as an amazing deal personally; unless you were specifically intending to buy something anyway.

The laptops look good. Four of them are less than $350, and among those, one has a touchscreen, one has 4GB ram and a pretty decent CPU.

    Easter Saturday is next Saturday.

    • +8

      nah that's Christmas.

    • +3

      Technically macaron is correct: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_Saturday
This Saturday was traditionally known as "Holy Saturday". Next is "Easter Saturday"

As with a lot of things once the general media/marketers get a hold of things with little or no knowledge they misinform/mislead others and create their own meanings to suit. Just like Christmas is the festival of retail and starts at the end of October. Ozbargain week was traditionally the busiest week after Christmas but even the true meaning of Boxing Day sales has been lost by retailers ;-)

      • Well "Easter Saturday" is a Christian thing anyway, & they stole Easter from the Pagans, like they have done to all the holidays, so I don't think there's any need really to argue over which Saturday is which….
(& before anyone goes attacking me, wtf does any "Christian" believe Easter eggs have to do with their version of Easter??)

        • +1

What, you've got the finger to neg me, but you can't be bothered to write any comment?? Pathetic!! If you don't believe me about Christians stealing Easter from Pagans (& many other religions which are thousands of years older) do some research in a real book…

Hang on, if this is just a sale then doesn't it belong in the forums? If there's a real, explicit bargain then that's different.

    • -2

15% Off Apple Computers and 20% Off itunes cards seems like a bargain to me…

      • -5

plus if you are a woolworths staff member, you can get an extra 5% off, making it 20% off… just got myself an imac.

        • +11

Ahh Woolies staff and their maths skills. ;) You sure you got 20% off? I'd assume you get 5% off the price that's already been discounted 15%. It's not the same.

        • +9

Don't confuse the Woolies staff mate, they're stacking shelves for a reason ;)

        • -3

i dont stack shelves… its my second job… and i pack online orders…

        • +1

and if you are a member of rac, you get 5% of wish gift cards bringing the total discount to close to 25% (cbf doing maths)

        • -6

          Don't be a condescending turd.

  • -1

i don't think woolworths will save you any more. didn't they sell dse.

  • Anybody notice that up to 20% off home theatre and up to 20% off hi-fi systems lists exactly the same products in both categories.

    • +2

Nifty way to make their "sale that is not a sale" look bigger…

I just Click 'n' Collected this very nice little laptop here:
    http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XC8587/acer-v3-571g-53214g75…

It's also available online if you don't want to risk getting ex-demo stock, although I called my local and they confirmed 3 in stock. They also confirmed that the full serial number ends in MAKK, so it's eligible for $49 cashback from Acer:
    http://ec3.acer.com.au/AcerCashBack/ACA/Projects/CashBack/Lo…

    So, an i5-3210M with a 1gb GT630M for a final price of $431.90.

    • I just did the same ha. Thanks for telling us about the cashback :)

Also I just called the online team very quick answered straight away. I was the last one to place order online so I cancelled it to pick up instore :)

    • Whats the screen resolution for that laptop?

    • I got this too :) Resolution is quite bad but I can plug it in to do any serious stuff anyway. Very nice laptop.

    • I just went onto the Acer website, and tried to register for the cashback promotion, but it wouldn't accept the serial number. I read more carefully, and saw that even though the model number is identical, that the cashback is dependent on the SKU, not the model number. You guessed it: The SKU is different. How many different bloody variations do they have on laptop models?!

I apologise to anyone who bought this laptop because I said it was eligible for the cashback. Still, I think that it was a pretty good price anyway.

  • Thanks bought the Asus Taichi http://dicksmith.com.au/product/XC8595/asus-taichi21-cw003h-… for $1,112.30 which is a great deal.

  • Tried Online for a i5 Mac Mini today but no 'Home Delivery' on any of the models then droppd into two stores to no avail either. It's a pity as yesterday they'd allow you to backorder but now that they've got a sale they won't :(

    • yep, i had the same experience, website pick up didnt show any stock, i had to get a store to check stock and then drove in to pickup

Does anyone here know anything about the consumer rights of an item if it was purchased just over a week ago, and now it's dropped $400 in price? (off this sale that is).

Can I dispute this or not?

    • Did you purchase it with a credit card? Some cards provide a 3 or 6 month purchase guarantee for that purpose. The 28 degrees card has this available which you can sign up to for future reference.

      • I think it was with an ING Debit card…

  • picked up a 27" imac yesterday, but i realise now that they should have given me a free boombox

    • Me too, got a MacBook click and collect and didnt get the boombox, completely forgot. Guess ill contact them tomorrow

  • Cancelled my order at jbhifi and bought one at dse. Asus me400c tablet.

  • the free boombox offer ends 1/4//13
