it is only for the My Book® Studio Edition, not for all WD drives

    This is a 2008 offer, not 2009

    • My apologies I was in a nextbyte store the other day and saw stickers on boxes with the offer, but now just changed the post, to the actual drive price cause I still think it's a bargain, I havent seen it anywhere else that cheap, plus only $12 postage on top, it's great

If you just want USB, you can get it for $179 here
        http://www.msy.com.au/Parts/PARTS.pdf

        • You can get the usb drives everywhere for that price, the msy only have the western digital elements edition not the my book, the my book usb edition always retails $200 and up

        • AS DJS stated above, that MSY price is for WD Elements, not the MyBook drive.

elements has a 1 year warranty, mybook has a 5 year warranty, though the sites I've read, people have claimed that WD is quite reliable (as compared with Seagate or Maxtor)

I just registered so I could vote and comment here. I think it's a great deal, and may actually be a pricing error - same price as the slower Passport model which doesn't have eSata. This is hardly comparable to the WD Elements drive. Check out the Western Digital site for the features of each model - for me the benefits I would pay extra for are Auto on/off and eSata.

$82 cheaper than OW. Is this a price matching opportunity?

They do say they have 600 in stock unless it's an error, but maybe that's why they have them cheaper, they must have got a good bulk deal

studio edition also includes a 5 year warranty

Funny how the 1st 2 commenters got voted -ve to point out the mistake the poster made.

  • And davo1111 got 2 negative votes for providing a link to a USB-only model.
    lol

    • lol yeah wtf! I spose it really depends whats people want but i didn't realise firewire was that popular.
