so we'll need to bring our computers in then youre going to persuade us that we need a new psu or graphics card?

    • Pest control. duh
      termites and other creepy crawlies

    • +2

      Just graphics card? Nah…
You might be told to upgrade your RAM, your harddisk, your OS, yout antivirus, your motherboard, your case, your DVD drive, etc.
And you'd better listen to them because they are the "professionals".

I'd place my money on running one of those scare-mongering registry/optimiser/malware programs that'll tell you you have a couple of thousand "critical errors" (that any system will have, with none of them actually impacting the performance of the computer) then charging to remove them.

its for people having computer issues, we find out what's wrong for them. we do not persuade you to buy things

I've just checked mine myself, it's definitely a computer.

    • Fooby how much do you charge ;)

        I also am interested.

Any place that wont give you a free quote isnt worth dealing with, and thats all this is

Why should ANYONE trust you to be honest about their computer during a 'Free Computer Hardware Check' if you cant even be honest about whose software you are mutilating to power your site?

I despise people claiming credit for the intellectual property of others. You did not write 'Romeo and Juliet' any more than your website is powered by CMS/eCommerce software written by you or using a theme you developed and have copyright to, as you claim at the bottom of your site.

I mean, you cant even test your own modifications properly (ie multiple resolutions) leaving the side banners overlapping your menus and content boxes on laptop res - do you really think it plausible to the public you wrote the whole CMS??

Please clean up your act, and for gods sake watch the latest episode of checkout http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/99007 before you decide to step outside those laws too :)

yea wow, being such a shit "deal" i would never have thought to check there site and see just how unbelievably poor/dodgy it is. epic fail.

and yea, this is nothing more than a way of trying to con computer illiterate people into upgrades they never needed/wanted. this practice is such a dodgy scam and no one should trust any company who offers a "service" like this, specially a company who cant even get there own web page to work….

        • Can't be as bad as MSY site haha

        • believe it or not…….. its actually WORSE…..

says a lot about how "good" this joint is i guess

        • IS this also a "yum cha" computer shop lol

        • wish i had some yum near me- they often do some good deals….but i go to Umart when nearby they are pretty good still.

        • I wouldn't have bothered either but after everything everyone has said I decided to have a peek at it, looks like a carbon copy of the greenboxit website.

I have actually ordered once from greenbox, went smoothly enough but I know there's a lot of complaints out there.

CBF doing a whois etc, they're probably the same company underneath.

By the way, this offer is similar to other "free checks" such as car tyres and batteries - "So, so lucky you came just in time - you needed to replace both and guess what, you're so lucky we've done the work already, so, so you're so lucky you brought your credit card."

    • it has nothing to do with a quote

What the heck is a hardware check? Making sure everything is plugged in? Wow. There are free programs which can check operation of the system. No details about what's being offered here and appears useless.

    • its for people having computer issues, we find out what's wrong for them free of charge

      • +1

So if its a software problem you charge them?

  • its for people having computer issues, we find out what's wrong for them free of charge

  • +1

Rep, can you please post an example report so we can have a clear idea of what it looks like / what is involved?

  • Computers do not have "issues" as you put it, they have "problems"

An "issue" is what your mum gets each month when she buys "womens weekly"

I suppose next you will say you have a "solution" Computers do not have "solutions"

A "solution" for example is a mixture of Brake Fluid and whisky in equal amounts in a large glass, stir well and drink it just like the bikies used to do in Darwin.

Well i suppose you could pour such a solution into the guts of your computer, to fix a problem.
