TODAY ONLY: 18c/L off Fuel at Shell/Coles Express with This Voucher

5523

Just got given this by my neighbour. Definitely works in Adelaide but is meant to be Australia wide. Print it out, cut off one of the strips and get your attendant at shell to scan it for 18c a litre off your fuel purchase.
TODAY ONLY!

EDIT: Confirmed working: NATIONALLY :)

EDIT: This has got to have cost someone their job. We have cost Coles thousands of dollars already :)

ENDED: I can't believe how MASSIVE this turned out to be, first time i've ever experienced a "viral" incident and the only time i've ever started one :D

Thanks everyone for the kudos etc. I should be able to walk into any pub in Australia now and say "I am Todes Angst and I need a beer!" and get one :)

WOW just hit sherwood brisbane with a car load of heavy looking dudes and the 'muppet'
working there scanned it no worries even though he has been refusing people for hours

  • Fuel is still a F'n ripp off in Australia.
Even with 18c off they are still making a crap load of $$$$

    • +3

That's a common misconception. They don't make that much money at all. Ever seen a petrol station shut down on a seemingly busy road? I sure have, plenty! If it was that lucrative they would be poping up everywhere. They are actually only making 1.5c - 2c a litre after all the taxes and what not.

      • It depends on who it's being suggested is making huge amounts of money. Surely companies such as BP, Shell ate are, the states selling the oil are, it's just the petrol station owners who only receive a very small percentage of the profits.

      • the money is coming out of coles pockets, not the servo's

    • Not really mate, UK petrol costs 50% more and the average wage is probably 50% less there.

      • The ACCC estimates that over the last 9 years after deducting those expenses the wholesale sector made an average annual net profit across all fuel products of 1.5 cents per litre.

I often check OzBargain in the morning before work and find I've missed an awesome deal from the previous arvo. Well not this time baby!

@OP: Just curious, how did your neighbour get this coupon in the first place? And how does he knows that this is not a unique code?

Edit: I've just read OP comment :) so we don't know how his neighbour knows that this coupon is not unique. I can't believe it, one of the best deal is something that was handed over the fence… LOL…

Thanks for sharing :) fully filled both of my cars.

    • +9

Neighbour is a retiree that is a serial Email forwarder. He just received it in his Email from someone else. I just heard him shout out my name over my side fence (our standard greeting call) and he just handed me a voucher. I asked where it came from he just said "A guy from Melbourne, but I just used it and it worked". I asked him for a copy of the pdf to put on here :)

I wonder if 435+ votes in 5 hours is a record?

      • +11

Tell your neighbour that he is receiving a cyber Order of Australia medal tomorrow

  • Saved $13 on fuel tonight. Not sure how did OP neighbour get it but thanks.

  • +7

Duncraig WA is the cheapest. the guy there didn't even bat an eyelid when i presented the Voucher of Magnificence. passed my remaining vouchers onto the people walking in to pay. hilariously, one young woman refused to take one and didn't even want to look at me (i'm female. too) :D

    • +6

Maybe you are too hot for her so she shyaway.

      • +1

        lol <blush>

    • +1

I wish I went there; it wasn't too far out of my way when I drove home from the train station, but I wanted to stop by my house first and pick up an 8c off voucher in case I had issues with this one. There are two Coles Express stations closer to my home, and with only two thirds of my tiny 35l tank to fill, I didn't think it was worth risking the drive to Duncraig only to be knocked back.

      • +2

i finished work in the CBD then drove all the way to Duncraig. great drive, hardly any traffic. only had 2/5ths of a 55L tank to fill so a/c was on to burn off as much fuel as i could before i got there ;)

hehe i had my back-up 8c voucher as well just in case. i always keep them in my car….along with all those Other Vouchers

  • +3

i love the sharing is caring theme going on tonight

  • Solid.

  • Merci, saved my $ 3.88!

  • +4

Coles Express CEO just lost a BMW because of this opz

    • +1

You mean his big red car ;)

  • +4

When i was giving these to every person i could see at the servo I felt like that annoying guy at the servo who tries to sell car wash in a can, before people even knew what i had they were giving me the not interested headshake……. ozbargain for the win!!

    • +2

Lol they must've thought you were trying to deal drugs at the servo or something.

Sucky thing when I went out there were no pretty girls filling up, else that would've been a good conversation starter :P

  • +6

Lies it's not expired just yet. Still another 90 minutes of use for WA. Just came back from a 24 hour coles in an industrial area nearby where I live.

    • +3

Would've been a great time to plan a trip from Brisbane to Sydney, 18c off fuel at every Coles on the way lol

  • +1

If you are in WA it still works till midnight. Can be used in Claremont 6010 tried twice already

  • +3

Ironic that a servo guy calls a 18c voucher fraudulent while the aussie fuel price keeps rising, at the same time our dollar buys more US$, the price that oil is based in. That means our petrol price should have declined over the last few years instead it has risen. There's a fraud going on alright and a lot bigger than ozbargainers could do.

    • +7

But dont take it out on the cashier at the servo for christs sake, he is just trying to make a living. He does not set the petrol prices!!

  • Saw this, went at 1030, to the one on Cumberland near Cabramatta, it worked for me, since i had two pages worth just handed them out to everyone else who was filling at the time, pretty funny!

  • +5

    interesting fact:

the pdf has a creation date of 03/04/2013

    • +5

I guess the OP's neighbour has been enjoying cheap petrol for a week now!

  • Saved myself $7 today fueling up at Wanneroo (Perth). Attendant accepted it without any hesitation. I also gave a voucher to the car behind me, feels good man!

  • +5

I didn't have time to print it out, so I tried the voucher on my phone. The girl behind the counter said it didn't scan, but gave the discount to me anyways. Awesomeness!

  • dear fellow hypocrites and those wishing me dead/jailed/aborted/banned

  • +1

    Thanks to OP!
Worked on Tassie last night. Saved $10 on fuel.

  • +1

Used two vouchers and saved $10 in total on two cars….also got a smile and thankyou on giving away voucher on return to the car!…….Ozbargain of the year?

  • Damn it why did this show up in the 11ths email! hate getting expired offers in that email especially great ones! I need to fill the tank up right now…

    (Weeping Softly)

    ;P

  • So who's going to be losing all the money here… Coles or the poor service station lessees for accepting dodgy coupons?

Surprised after reading through all the comments how many OzBers blatantly lied to the cashier when asked where they got the voucher from. Obviously the voucher was not meant for generic use… more ethical questions raised.

    • It's not hard for them to create coupons with unique barcodes….. don't know why they didn't do this.

    • +2

I agree. I was one of them who filled my tank. But thinking if this is really a bargain or just misuse of voucher which was suppose to be used by 1/2 person only. This is gonna cost someone their job or money. Do we OZB community really want to use bargain(?) which can cost someone their job?

edit: I just created separate topic in General section to get everyone's view on this.

    • no one really knew where the voucher could have come from. not even the OP or his neighbour. it was just assumed it was from a coles online order.

  • +10

The formula for the best ozbargain of the year is.

no sign up required + absolutely required by everyone + free to obtain + heavy discount = bargain of the year (BotY)

    Well done OP!!!

    • +3

      you math genius you :)

  • +2

I tried using it last night at Tarneit, Vic Coles Express by showing it on my phone and was sadly denied… The attendant said there is going to be a massive investigation into these vouchers lol

    • +1

The attendant said there is going to be a massive investigation into these vouchers lol

Yeah… 'Massive' meaning - looking up barcode creation date, then seeing how they screwed up and probably send a cease and desist letter to ozbargain, which will probably end up with no Coles deals being posted up… Not that there were any (apart from my groceries person's weekly specials)

    • So they got you fill up at full price when you might not have otherwise. A win for Coles (as in the other cases of rejection once people filled up).

Even if a company prevents vouchers here they could still up circulating elsewhere on the net. Better that they just learn from it and improve things rather than missing out on future traffic or having it affect their reputation with shoppers here.

  • +5

    thanks for the voucher..
i had only kept a couple of vouchers with me so couldnt hand it out like others did…

my good deed was feeling the petrol up for the man in front of me who was in the middle of taking his wheelchair out… told him to sit tight and I will fill his tank up for him :)

    • +2

Was the petrol that you were 'feeling up' hot? :)

    • That is beautiful, just beautiful ibe1st.Now here is an Ozbargain challenge for all - EQUAL OR TOP THAT….I'll start.I was going to an education course for work in the city.Hell NO was i driving down there so i took the train. An elderly priest was standing, and a young man offered me a seat in the way overcrowded train.I declined (still only at Pararmatta)and gave the seat to him, helping him to get there. Not much, but a little bit of what you did…human decency.

  • -1

    missed out :(
    Is this still possible?

    • +2

If it's still available today even though it says it expires on the 10th, then whoever screwed up at Coles HQ by not making the barcodes unique will have to get fired, then rehired just so they can have the satisfaction of firing them again.

      • Or they will give them a job in the late shift at the servo ;-)
@Dnkei, the voucher had an expiry date of yesterday hence it's expired.

  • -5

Voucher denied at Coles Express at Forest Road, Hurstville.
Can any complaint be done because all others accept it?
The attendant showed me a voucher that looked exactly the same as mine except printed 20% bigger and said mine was copied and he needed original voucher.

    • +1

Did you try this today or yesterday? The voucher was only valid yesterday.

Either way there is no point complaining…Coles would just say you weren't the original recipient or something like that.
