TODAY ONLY: 18c/L off Fuel at Shell/Coles Express with This Voucher

5523

Just got given this by my neighbour. Definitely works in Adelaide but is meant to be Australia wide. Print it out, cut off one of the strips and get your attendant at shell to scan it for 18c a litre off your fuel purchase.
TODAY ONLY!

EDIT: Confirmed working: NATIONALLY :)

EDIT: This has got to have cost someone their job. We have cost Coles thousands of dollars already :)

ENDED: I can't believe how MASSIVE this turned out to be, first time i've ever experienced a "viral" incident and the only time i've ever started one :D

Thanks everyone for the kudos etc. I should be able to walk into any pub in Australia now and say "I am Todes Angst and I need a beer!" and get one :)

  • +1

Worked for me! Handed one to other person that was filling up and left the other two near the pump! -thinking about it now, hopefully I don't start a fire.

    • +1

If something were to catch fire first at a petrol station, I don't think it would be paper.

    • +1

While I was filling up the guy behind me was actually smoking!!! Geez, way to kill me before I even use the voucher.

      • haha stereotypical hardcore rebel smoker

  • +2

filled and saved $4.37:) from Clayton South, VIC 3169 (corner of clayton road and cleary ct). the guy told me he has got a lot of happily accepting all. i used one and gave the rest of 3 coupons i printed to other guys at the pump. great bargain.

Lady at my local coles express tried to knock me back, saying m'am, "this is a photocopy. do you have the original?"

me: innocent eyes what? this was sent to my email

hahaha apparently just before when my friend had gone to fill up, the lady was very on edge. "This is a photocopy!! Why are the barcodes all the SAME grabs out other ones

    oh, internet.

  • Saved $7.89 at Chapel Hill Qld, paid with ING paypass! Thanks OP!
Btw the title of this deal should be changed to 'at Coles Espress', as some Shells are not really Coles Espress
, e.g. Shell at North Quay Brisbane, and they don't accept Coles fuel vouchers.

  • Thanks OP.
Attendant was suspicious and asked where did i ge it.Said a friend gave it to me :-)

  • This was a godlike discount compared to the 4c etc ones. Pity i could only get 26l half tank of 98, but still saved 5 bucks!
    thanks op.

    • 4c off was good when petrol was 69cLT.. :-(

      • +3

4c off brings it back to the true price (whatever that is). Those without a docket are paying above market-gouging.
More likely 18c off is closer to the true price.

  • Doesn't work at the Shell in Laverton right off the freeway near Maccas but works at Sanctuary Lakes shell.

    • I filled up there @ 6PM with the docket. Maybe they stopped doing it later.

      • I filled up at around 8 and they told me that it's a fake but I still managed to get them to take the voucher. Just a heads up that they might knock you back.

  • +1

Works@Coles express North Ryde. Corner of Lane Cove Road and Waterloo Road. Thanks Todes Angst.

  • Done.
Code worked at Shell Olympic drive, lidcombe nsw.

  • +1

I think some Coles express cotton on to this already. I went to Chatswood one on Pacific Hwy and happily thought I saved some dough, though I thought the price was high at $1.49.9/LT. then drove past the mobile station 500m further and saw the price of $1.31.9. Exactly 18c less!!

    • In WA, they aren't allowed to change their price until 6am, and even that price needs to be set in advance so it can be recorded on fuelwatch.wa.gov.au which shows today's & tomorrow's prices

  • Thanks Op! Got $6 discount no questions asked at Doonside, NSW!

  • Filled up less than an hour ago at Pascoe Vale, worked fine. Attendent was smiling when he told me there had been 10 others before me :)

  • Good deal…but I guess I'm not gonna be using it…pity…

  • Works @ Ferntree Gully but base price is 144.9

  • Worked in Perth, saved $5

  • +1

confirming Neapean Hwy, Brighton VIC is having no issues accepting them, people are lining up with them and they are accepting each one.

  • +1

Just worked for me on Joondalup Drive, Edgewater in WA.

Quite funny actually, I've got a crap printer at home and you could barely see/read it. It wouldn't scan so I asked if the lady could manually enter it in, she said she would, but couldn't see how much discount it was meant to give. I said 18c/l and she just pressed her touch screen once, didn't enter the code and it took 18c/l off! Awesome find OP!

The attendant asked me "where did you get it", i answered "on Coles website, just go to homepage you can see" (luckily he couldn't use mobile phone at work). He just scanned it and accepted it. I left somes for the guys filling up their cars, they pretty happy and said "oh cool, cheers mete!".

  • +2

Not working at Shell Flemington (VIC). Plenty of other people in the line got turned away too. Guy behind the counter claimed it was a fake…

  • +2

I tried 10 mins ago in Smithfield Road, Melbourne, Victoria (Shell). The cashier said it was fake and he received a call from head office claiming it is fake. I end up paying full price.

    • +7

Since when does HO stay after 5pm

      • he did not say when he received the call. Just keep saying its fake and all has the same number.

    • +1

It's not 'fake'. Sure, it shouldn't have been mass distributed, but really that's their fault for not having unique barcodes. If head office wanted to stop it, they could void that barcode in their system rather than calling all stores, but that would effect those that legitimately received it. Although it seems that legit people would be turned back by some attendant anyway.

      • I got his name down "Raghu". I am thinking of heading back and ask him to prove if its fake.

        • please do and let us know.

        • +1

          His name sounds fake

      • Won't matter anyways expires today unless someone wants to try tomorrow

  • +8

Filled 2 44's today at Shell Lidcombe, split it into two lots of 150 + 109l = 605.32 before discount = 531.45 after discount.

    Not bad at all.

When i left work they had 4 1000L pallet tanks on the back of a flatbed to go fill up.

  • +1

Just came from Hoppers Crossing and was asked where did I get it. I told him that I get it from Coles and printed out from my email. He asked if because I did online shopping, I just said yes! He claimed that he's getting a lot of this today and wondering where they got it. I put up a confused face to him. All went through. Cheers!

  • -2

    why shell does this?

    • +2

      because coles

  • anyone got knocked back in Adelaide?

  • Thanks! Saved $11 in total filling up both cars :)

  • +1

Cleveland, QLD 4163 no questions asked! She's a good to go. :)

  • Just filled v power@ clayton vic. No problems at all!! :)

  • +5

The service station that let you fill 44s is breaking the law..

    Same with the pallet tanks.

I expected to get neg for this comment but it's true - and for good reason.

25 litres in an approved container is the maximum size permitted for a retail service station.

    • +1

I think you will find thats completely incorrect. We use pallet tanks all the time especially out in rural areas and they are filled via regular bowsers (farm machinery refueling)

Hell the fuel tanks on my truck are over 800L each and the belly tanks on some of our trailers are 4000l each. All done by regular bowsers and not done via 4 inch coupling.

      • +1

Hope they get the discount approved before they fill up the pallet tanks so they then don't say sorry no discount after they've been filled.

        • +2

What we did for the 44's was Mick was inside paying as we hung up the handle every 150l to reset the bowser as separate sales.

Not the first time we have done big lots because of discount vouchers or (most recently) incorrect pricing.

We had the Caltex Hexham selling Diesel at 47.9c a few months back, did alright out of that was well, fueled 17 prime movers and 6 pallet tanks before they shut the bowser off (its an unmanned sight so all automated)

        • +1

"We had the Caltex Hexham selling Diesel at 47.9c a few months back, did alright out of that was well, fueled 17 prime movers and 6 pallet tanks before they shut the bowser off (its an unmanned sight so all automated)"

Plus dont forget your 12c fuel tax credit for heavy vehicles.

      • Copie

I am not going into this as I don't mix work and pleasure but if you want to check out AS1940 in respect to retail service stations it is mandated there.

Just because it's done does not mean the service station is abiding by the relevant mandatory standards.

If you have any doubt ask the relevant agency in your state.

Perhaps you are filling at a "depot" or perhaps they are doing the wrong thing.

Either way I am 110 percent sure.

44s are not allowed to be filled at a retail service station and neither are IBCs that get loaded on & off

If you really get into the nitty gritty there may be a very small gray area with diesel, but petrol no way.

And a service station would have a very tough case arguing that gray area if they had an incident.

        And rather foolish.

        • So long as its a fuel approved container most places wont stop you.

By rights anyone running a long range tank wouldnt be able to fuel up as its beyond '25l' container.

Nothing is said when i pump 2800l of fuel into the fuel tanks of my truck either.

        • +1

Tanks permanently fitted to a vehicle are different.

Hence my comment about containers that you can take on and off - they fall under the definition of portable and that's where that limit comes in.

But don't take my word for it e-mail the regulatory body in your state and ask them about it.

I know you don't know me from a bar of soap..but all you need to do is a bit of research and the answer is there

Although I don't quite agree with the wording woolworths has this policy because of compliance with as1940

          http://www.woolworthspetrol.com.au/Safety

          So go hunting :0

Oh and shells own page does not reference size but it does mention not filling containers on the back of vehicles
          http://www.shell.com.au/products-services/on-the-road/fuels/…

Now I told you I expected a neg, but it still does not mean I am wrong

Oh and why principally static control amongst other things.. If you google that you will come up with incidents etc

        • And?

Also says you cannot use the autofill clips and let almost all woolworth sites ive been to still have them present on both the lowflow and highflow Diesel.

Being most servo's are licensed and not owned by the corporate im sure the owner wouldnt be impressed if some idiot attendant denied a 1000L sale, especially after you have pumped the bulk of it already.

Edit: PS i didnt neg you either, i save my negs for jv and Chilled only.

        • And my point is against the law.

And not complying has all the risks attached to that for an operator.

They might decide they think it's worth it, it they might think its too hard to comply.

I disagree. Especially if the are an agent for a principal that says they commit to certain rules.

Those woolworths rules are their own, that they have said licensees will follow!

Anyway I know from experience that getting into detailed discussions in forums like this are unproductive and are the wrong place.

I'll just watch the coupon train wreck!

Oh and thanks for the comment about not negging me .. I did notice and it is appreciated that you cared enough to mention it :)

        • -2

Its only catering for the idiots who dont know how to ground large containers correctly or how to discharge themselves. Same with fueling while the vehicle is on, i always do it, as do every other operator i know does the same.

  • +1

Not working at hurstville, the guy refuse to use the coupon, he said it is a photocopied.
    LOL Racist

    • he's racist because he thought the coupon was photocopied?

      • +2

Yea he doesn't like black or white.

        • +2

Damn, he definitely wouldn't have liked Michael Jackson showing up with a voucher lol

        • +1

          I giggled

  • Worked at Bayswater Vic. Went back and filled the other car too, attendant just smirked when he saw me return.

  • Thanks OP works at mooloolaba. Price was 147.9 though

Around 3 hours to go before it expires :)

    Assume:
    - With more than 15600 click, assume each download is shared to 4ppl or cars (62.4k cars)
    - Assume average of 25L per car ($4.50 savings)
    - it's a loss of profit margin by about 280k

I think i'm being generous here, but it wouldn't surprised me if it's way more than my estimates, probably more like average 30L each car and 100k cars..

    Somebody's gonna get hurt..real bad!!!

    • +1

I can tell you if it wasn't for this voucher, I would not be filling up at Coles so can't absolutely say that they are losing that much revenue from this voucher. They are still making heaps of money

      • I did say loss in "profit margin", not revenue.

Anyway, this post is what I would call a Crash-Proof "Click Frenzy"!

        Thx OP & OzBargain Server!

      • I also bought stuff in store with my "savings". Damn those hard to resist lolly deals!!

    • i click on this deal 10 time alone and didnt even fuel up. Did you ever think of that?
10000 click doesnt mean 10000 people actually printed the voucher.

  • +1

    toast to your name

  • +1

15897 clicks and still going on.Op, thanks a ton. You saved OZB community thousands dollar.

    • Almost 1000 clicks in 30 mins.I guess this gonna be most popular deal on ozb till date.

      • has a bit to go before it tops the MS Office post… and it probably wont happen with less than 1 hour and a 1/2 til this deal expires…

see here for the stats and records page…

        • Awesome stats. But I assume this deal has helped saving most dollars compared to other deal. 250k approx…..

  • +1

Drove past 2 Shells on the way home from work, both at $149.3 for unleaded. Also drove pass a Mogas near my house and it was $132.7 for unleaded. Would save more at Mogas using my 8c IGA shopping docket then I would at Shells.

Probably purposely hiked the price cause they knew OzBargainers were onto them.

    • Yep, same for me. Coles express was exactly 18c more than the Mobile down the road. Go figure.

  • +1

Got rejected in Myaree, WA. So cut :( Guys behind the counter said head office had called and told them not to accept them.

Still, used ing everyday so all was not lost.

    • Forgot to use mine. Dammit. Could've saved a further $5 or so. :)

  • +5

Just join ozbargain to say thank you for the share. I managed to share couple of vouchers to other people while paying for mine. :)
Oh and they also said thank you. ;)

  • +5

Just used at Coles Express Gungahlin, ACT and saved about 10 on V-Power. I actually told the guy at the counter that I'm gonna distribute the vouchers to others who were behind me in the queue. All ok and the counter-guy told me today is the last day of the promo. Made at least 10 people so happy tonight..

  • Was told I couldn't use it in the ACT (Belconnen), the guy then proceeded to show me the stack of printouts he had… gave me 8c off anyway though.

    • +4

You should've told him: "That's great, now you can add mine to your collection :D"
