  • what is the spec like on the ultra book?

  • $599 is probably the price for branded ultrabooks. Their i3 17" laptop was a bargain for $349 when Carnegie store opened 2 months ago.

  • Specs and performance

The performance of the Akoya S4216 is zippy thanks to its Intel Core i5-3317U CPU, which has two cores, Hyper-Threading, a standard clock speed of 1.7GHz, and it also handles the graphics (Intel HD 4000). It's surrounded by 8GB of DDR3 SDRAM (via two slots with 4GB each), and there is a 500GB, 5400rpm hard drive as well as a 32GB solid state drive.

    • The review goes on to say that the keyboard and trackpad suck though. But with the Aldi 60 day no questions asked return policy, there really no risk in trying it out.

A nice touch on this machine is that you can swap out the DVD drive for an extra battery that comes with it.

  • I am considering the all in one desktop. Anyone got experience with aldi branded desktop?

    • I have a P4 Aldi desktop (media PC)

really amazed by it, they are design(use OEM parts/maybe made in China like everybody else) by the Germany Medion
and good quality, many things packed into one PC, drivers available as global user(other countries Aldi have same model)

can't say what's their newer range but I wouldn't mind if the price is really a bargain
no risk trying out with 60 days return policy!

      • I got a Medion from Aldi about four years ago. The first one didn't want to turn on (lol) but a return to the store get me an exchange which was ok. It's worked well until it started overheating a bit and eventually just died a few weeks ago. Motherboard was MSI, RAM was Samsung, HDD was Seagate.

  • A tad late, its probably sold out by now. Aldi specials barely last the morning, and its a full business day gone by now.

    • I was in there at around 5:45 PM and there was heaps of notebooks, desktops and tablets. Not much point annoying the locals when you open a new store, so I guess they got in lots of stock of the specials.

      • Do they have the 17 inch laptops on special by any chance?

    • FWIW the Nerang (Gold Coast) Aldi has a lot of the 7" Onix tablets for $89 as well, along with a variety of these same laptops and desktops at marked down prices.

  • Aldi don't sell there 'own' brand computers&desktops. They sell Medion which is HUGE in Germany/Europe. Company makes a hefty profit each year enough to get there brands on F1 team eg. FORCE INDIA. Not many companies can say the same thing.

    • -1

Aldi sell Medion brand products? Well shuck my oysters, big ole prophet of the Aldi, please do go on tellin' us stuff that every man and his dog ain't yet clued into!

    • Poor Europeans don't have money to buy quality branded Products.
