This bargain tablet is made by Hyundai IT corp and is the upgrade to the T7 model. The capacitive 7" IPS screen has a resolution of 1280*800 and is reported to be very crisp. It also has full access to Google Playstore.

I've done some extensive research the last few days re this tablet and it is reported to be FASTER than the GOOGLE NEXUS 7 with LOADS MORE FEATURES at a much better price. Built quality is reported to be solid. YouTube videos show this tablet running apps and 3D games really smoothly. Firmware is updated regularly. A lot of websites still advertise this with Android 4.04 but Merimobiles just updated theirs to include Android Jellybean 4.2. Shipping is free. For 7% off at Merimobiles use "JOY" code (valid till 14/4) or 5% "techheidiki" code (valid all April). Price of $167.40 is discounted price in Australian Dollars. I haven't found a better price with a reputable seller so I went with them. Only negative is battery only 3300 mAh max 5 hours but with $20 portable powerbank from Ebay easily solved. 1Year warrenty included.

  • So sorry. My first post. Here is the link:

better off using code JOY (usable storewide for 48 hours) to get 7% off - takes it to 167.40 :) feel free to edit your deal :)

Merimobiles are a reliable supplier who even pay return shipping for faults - almost unheard of for companies shipping from china. They really do care about their customers in my experience

Is it just me, or does it look like a giant S3?

  • Can someone tell me how to edit my deal? First post and struggling to get it right :(

    • +3

      click "edit"

      • Thanks!

  • I got coupon code: JOY in the e-mail that will give you 7% off, valid till tomorrow.

I just recently bought Pipo Max M9 Tablet from Aliexpress seller, at last! and very happy with the tablet, and good price, fast delivery. A dude also from Aussie also bought Pipo M9 earlier than me. He has Google Nexus 7 as well, but he personally prefer Pipo M9 over Nexus 7.

  • Best thing about my tablet is that it lasts days n a single charge, $50 more for that is worth it IMO

    • +3

      ?

    • which tablet is that Marchi?

  • -3

Hyundai make great cars, I have an i45 (Sonata).

    • Not alot to do with Hyundai - everything to do with Hynix (chip maker).

      • I know, but I still wanted to let people know.

        • +2

I didn't give you that neg in case you're wondering, but maybe you should become a car salesman…

that's almost like saying easternculture should open a bookstore

        • +1

Um, I suppose so, but then how could I argue with one of the community's highly regarded purveyors of fine meats?

    • Their cars dont seem too bad now, but I still cant get the Excel out of my mind when I think Hyundai. It was so bad that it's scarred my memory… and I'm not even a past owner! I cant imagine the flashbacks of horror actual owners still have to this day ;).

A shame, because some of their new cars look pretty good.

      • +1

If you were a past owner you you would know they were great little cars with an undeserved bad reputation spread by people like yourself who know bugger all about them.

The first model had dodgey window winders that broke. But the others ones we have owned gave bugger all problems. Thats why we keep buying them.

        • I think I remember them having a recall due to a suspension problem as well. Still not bad cars though. The engine from the excel was used in the getz and accent and is still being used in the i20 and veloster (with slight upgrades).

        • Suspension was terrible, I once jumped on the brakes in a courtesy car in an emergency and I ended up in the lane beside me. Lucky no one was there

        • +1

"I once jumped on the brakes in a courtesy car"
I wouldn't judge a make or model on the condition of a courtesy car.

Sounds like they had fitted accident avoidance tech…

I just finished ordering the same tablet from BIC using 8% coupon from earlier ozbargain deal. Came to $163.86 AUD. I'm not sure which seller is more reliable, I didn't know about this deal at the time. Seems like a good value 7" tab (from either seller) and am looking forward to getting it.

    • +2

I have bought from both, Merimobiles is MUCH more reliable - in my experience BIC after sales service is almost non-existant.
Merimobiles customer service is (if i have things right) Canada based, speak english well, and are committed to customer satisfaction, offering a 30day satisfaction guarantee and offering to pay for return shipping on warranty returns. When things do go wrong (which WILL happen to any company, esp specializing in shipping internationally) they do their best to make them right, and often throw in a little extra just to say sorry, even if it isnt their fault. I even got a credit back from the when i bought something from them and it went on sale the next morning.
People round here have likely noticed I am a bit of a merimobiles fan - The above might give you an idea why

      • Thanks, I'll keep that in mind for future.

  • what is the official website of this tablet?

    • +1

The only thing official in China is the government.

They aren't even officially communist anymore

  • if they put in phone-call function in, and add $50-$100, it will be a bargain for such phone in $210-$260… and Hyundai will be the next Samsung

  • +1

Haha. Wow! So they got the Exynos off Samsung, so they thought they might as well rip off EVERYTHING else too? Case/Camera/Speaker? Hahaha Awesome.

  • man just no NFC. should I swap my nexus 7 for this one????

    • After just getting two phones with NFC, it seems to be a real pain in the ass to do Beam. I tried using Bump, which is much better (and doesn't require NFC, as far as I can tell). Granted, you may want to use NFC for something else, though.

  • Interesting, just found a review for it, looks not bad.

The only concern would be the Front 0.3 MP Camera, which is not quite useful.

  • any good suggestion similar for similar price table with similar quality that have sim card slot as well?

    • http://www.merimobiles.com/ramos-w22pro-dual-core-9-7-inch-i… is a fast dual core with 3g for 216.70 would be the closest price wise i think for a decent qual unit. My family have 2 Ramos tablets and they are lovely and pretty solid.
I just use the portable access point in my android phone - 1 click and i have my own hotspot for my tablet to use. You can also buy wifi hotspots pretty cheaply, or most tablets will allow you to plug in a USB dongle, tho you do need to get the right dongle.
Hope that is some help :)

  • How come we cannot checkout in AUD?

I had chosen AUD as currency, however Paypal trys to charge USD.

    Anyone else experiencing similar issues?

    • +1

Consider getting a 28 degree MasterCard (issued by GE). From my personal experience, the exchange rate applies on the card is much better than the one offered on the checkout page(s).However, there is always the risk of A$ weakened before the transaction is recorded (and exchange rate applies/fixed).

  • Interesting deal.

In the review linked above I didn't see any info regarding output to HDMI. Does it use MHL or another adapter?

Please keep posting interesting tablet deals - at least until the next generation iPad and Nexus tablets are released. :)

PS. You noted the 7% off code: 'For 7% off at Merimobiles use "JOY" code (valid till 14/3)'.
Can you change that to 14/4? :)

    • Bizi I have the earlier Hyundai T7 and it uses a micro HDMI to HDMI cable for its output. Mine is a great tablet, the T7S should be better. Only negative would be the short battery life, around 4 hours.
It comes with android 4.04 but there are rumours that 4.2 will be released soon, but rumours only.

      • My interest has been gaining on this one. Website currently says T7S comes with Android 4.2, though only blue ones are in stock.

      • Thanks, zubi.
HDMI as standard differetiates this one from the Nexus 7 so it should raise a LOT of interest from gadget geeks around here. ;)

    • Oops. My mistake.Updated it to correct date:-)
This tablet does have min HDMI with 1080p output. I haven't seen any other tablets that come close to this for such a good price. I have a sneaking suspicion that Samsung is somehow involved in the manufacturing of this tablet. Not too many other devices seem to use their processor and the design is very similar to the Samsung Note. And after all, it is quite common for manufacturers to produce similar products under a different name/brand. I have read similar views on the Internet so I'm not alone in thinking this.

      • Thanks for reading my feedback and updating the deal text.

It shouldn't be too hard to research the OEM factory if there was enough interest in this tablet by the industry press.

For a tablet like this, surely it would be OEM manufactured somewhere cheaply and in high volumes.

Just ordered two in blue for $168.59 each after I figured out the web checkout.

  • Anyone had their order progress from

"This order is marked as Awaiting Fulfillment"?

    • +1

Yes, this is normal. They spend a few days checking out the items you ordered to make sure they are all in good working order. Mine took three days before they sent it. Kinda good knowing they take good care of their customers. Once it is sent you can check the tracking here:

      http://www.17track.net/en/result/post.shtml?nums=RB170013281…

Under "events" just copy and paste the Chinese text in Google translate to get the English translation. Mine is currenty at Beijing by the looks of it.

      • +1

Excellent site 17track, especially for orders coming from Asia.

Just an FYI, if you change 'Aim Language' to English, and then hover over the tracking information, it will provide a quick translation!

        • +1

Thanks. That will be easier than Google translate. ^_^

  • Hmm, the three working day handling period has passed, still as 'awaiting fulfillment'…

I understand that this is a reputable seller, any idea on how long delays go for?

    • Well I just checked my order on their website . Going by their dates and time I ordered it on the 7th of April 4:37 pm. They shipped it on the 10th. Beiijng mail centre send it to Australia on the 14th. Obviously still in transit. Hope your status changes to "Shipped" soon.

    • +1

      Ordered April 13

Just got quick response to delay. <Like 60 sec.>

      "Dear Customer,
The Hyundai T7s is getting the latest update to Android Jelly Bean 4.2 software, we will get the software updated batch back from Hyundai by the middle of next week."

      • I think mine is still Android 4.04. Hope they will release the updated firmware soon so I can flash jellybean onto mine once it arrives.

      • I also ordered April 13, and noticed that email earlier.

Good to hear that 4.2 is being put on, saves me having to flash it.

        Oh well, waiting patiently …

        • Just an update on my order just in case some people are waiting with me. Ordered mine on the 13th and was awaiting fulfillment for a week so I msg-ed them to ask them what was going on; the nice lady replied that it was getting it's update to Jelly Bean 4.2. She also threw in a free screen protector which was also very nice. Pleased with the service but really hope they ship it soon. It's a present for someone's birthday coming up very soon..

"Sorry for this issue, the factory is updating the Android version,it will comes with Android 4.2,and we will get it soon,so is OK for you wait some days,we will send you free screen protector for this inconvenience, wish you like it
have a nice day" - Crystal (Merimobiles)

        • Thanks for that update,

I sent them an email today saying that I am not happy with waiting so long with only word that it'd be done mid-week this week. If I knew it would take this extra 2 weeks, I probably would've gone with the refurbished nexus that popped up a few days after this.

I was also looking at getting something directly from ainol before this, so its fairly annoying compared to these other options.

Oh well… hopefully it's shipped next week, as it still takes 6+ days to even ship apparently to their schedule

  • I got mine on Wednesday (2 days ago) delivered by registered mail (had to sign for it). It still has Android 4.04 on it. If I'd known they were going to put Jellybean on it a week later, I would have waited for that. Jellybean is definitely much smoother than ICS and worth waiting for.

Having said that, the tablet itself is excellent. It's fast, screen is lovely and responsive, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS all work without any issues. Surfing the net is fast. I did root my tablet and installed Fasterfix from the Playstore. This app allows you to set the GPS server to Oceania (the zone for Australia) so it picks up the satellites much quicker (works wonders on my phone too - now only takes 30 secs to get a fix, no Internet required). By default it is set to North America and this means the first time it can take up to an hour for the GPS to see the correct satellites and get a fix. With Fasterfix it picks them up real quick first time and you only need to run it once. Installed TomTom and it works like a dream:-)

Built quality seems solid. Played some movies on it and all I can say is "Wow". Battery lasted about 5 1/2 hours after intensive use with 15% left.
Overall I'm really happy with this tablet. Hope you guys will be too!

PS: Make sure you take the plastic film off the camera lens. Fist time I took a photo I was very disappointed how grainy it was. Until I read somewhere that there is a protective layer on the lens which you can hardly see or feel. And sure enough, once I peeled it off camera quality was much better! The tablet also comes pre-installed with a screen cover.

    • Hi, great to hear your positive experiences with the phone. Does your current unit from any serious battery rundown issue (although with Android 4.2 & above)? That is: after a full charge, and not doing anything else with the tablet now disconnected from charging, does its charge runs down significantly say after 6 - 8 hours (say like drop from 100% to 60%)?

      • When I first got the tablet, yes it did. It went through a lot of battery while tablet was sleeping. I then uninstalled all the Chinese bloatware that came pre-installed. I further installed Juice defender and Greenify. This last program can put programs that automatically run in the background into hybernation so they only run when you need them to. I also set "keep WIFI on during sleep" to "never" and only turn on sync when I need it. My tablet has a fixed IP address in the router so it only takes seconds to re-connect the WIFI. Now the battery lasts much longer when tablet is not in use. On the weekend I had it on for over 23 hours straight without charging, using it off and on for games and e-reading. Battery went down to 43%.

I also read somewhere that in Settings - developer options, you should tick "stay awake - screen will never sleep while charging" and immediately untick it again. Apparently on some tablets (not sure if it includes this one?)android thinks it is still charging when unplugged and keeps in awake mode which gobbles up battery (even though screen is black). At any rate, the tablet now is much leaner on battery juice when not in use. I would say about 1% every 2 hours while sleeping. Keep in mind that I'm still running Android 4.04 and Jellybean is supposed to be better optimized for battery use.

        • Thanks for the tips. Sounds great. On the web, it was reported that ironically, Android 4.2 (Jellybean) is the version that causes the noticeable rapid battery drain, earlier Android does not suffer from this. Subsequent releases 4.2.2 was reportedly to deal with this issue. But I won't hold my breath for 4.2.2 ROM for this T7S. Perhaps some custom ROM build maybe out there that would work (reduce battery drain) but it is fair amount of mucking around.

        • There is a link somewhere for the official 4.04 firmware. I downloaded it a few weeks ago. Let me know if anyone needs it. They have already put out a few different firmwares so they do update it regularly. Just in March there were something like 2 new releases.

        • Yes, I would be very interested in that firmware download link/web site. Thanks alot!

        • Well it looks like their official website is down. I read somewhere they are updating it so not sure when it will be online. Here is a link to the firmware anyway(click on the link in the post that says "you can still find out the link to HYUNDAI T7S-20130318.rar from the web archive"):

          http://www.pandawillforum.com/showthread.php?19448-Android-4…

Someone put out a custom rom based on the official firmware. It comes pre-rooted. Link is here: http://www.slatedroid.com/topic/64722-rom-t7s-cleanrom/

This site (Slatedroid) is also a great forum for this tablet. Most of the posts are about the T7 which had a few teething problems that seemed to be solved with the updated T7s. Still some good reading if you are interested.

        • According to this website translated from Chinese to English it is Jellybean v4.2.2
          http://audio.pconline.com.cn/322/3224332.html

  • Finally, I got an email reply and also my item status is updated as being shipped. I selected singapore post instead of the free one and my tracking number doesn't come up on the website but hopefully that's just due to the short time frame since.

    • Good for you. I can't even order the item now - whenever I click "Add to Cart", the web page just says "loading" (forever). Today Apr 30 is last day to use the "techheidiki" code to save a few bucks.

      • Have you tried the usual different browser trick? You could also phone them up if you want I guess.

        • Well, I've tried Firefox, IE, and then Safari on iPad. All failed. Something's not right - it's like they do not want more orders (?!). I tried their 1800 tel but that does not work either - it's a "US" 1800 I think.

How & when did you order yours? It must be some time ago as the ordering mechanism broke down quite recently.

        • I ordered it the day this deal came up so I've been waiting for over 2 weeks for it to be shipped. I can't seem to readd it to the cart, with it not coming up on the item at all. Strange… they might've disabled it until they get more stock. I can add other items to the cart fine, so not sure.

          You could possibly email.

When i attempt to re-order the item it comes up saying, "Unfortunately this product is no longer for sale so it cannot be reordered." so they've done something.

        • On their website under "READ WHAT OTHERS HAVE TO SAY" check out post #3. It says:

"I can't seem to order the Hyundai T7s on your site. I click on "Add to Cart" and your site puts me into a non-ending "transferring data" state. Other sites have it in stock, but yours was recommended so I thought I would try here first. Sorry to put this under Reviews, but I tried "Contact us" and didn't get a response.

          ANSWER:
Sorry for that. We have locked the item as Hyundai T7s was ordered by many customers, we will prior to ship them.We will open to sale it within 2 days, you could open the link and add it to your cart on this Saturday that it shall be ready to ship to new customers Thank you."

Guess they were overwhelmed with orders. Also, they have sent the units they had to the factory to have them flashed with Jellybean firmware. There might be some new discount coupons in May though. Just Google it.

        • Finally I got a reply back from them, it says:

"The techheideki code works, however the tablet that you chose is not available. the tablets were recalled by the factory because they mistakenly had Android ICS on them and they are replacing it with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean as advertised. Hopefully this particular tablet you can order next week when they become available."

Looks like I would try order again later (next week, starting 6 May).

  • Guys, I've found this item on sale at antelife.com and after rebate it comes 8% cheaper.
Any of you has any experience with antelife.com ? Kindly appreciated your input.

    • Haven't heard of the site so can't comment. If you are looking for really cheap deals (around $166) check out this website:

      http://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?SearchText=hyundai+t7s&c…

I went with Merimobiles because they have a good reputation and I wanted to pay with Paypal for buyer protection.

    • No experience with them but I bought from BuyInCoins for $164 and it arrived safely within 2 weeks.

      • At time of writing, Buyincoins is $177 (free shipping), and Antelife is $178 (free shipping), and Aliexpress is $157 with $15 shipping (not sure which currency, probably US$). So, how did you folks get these with 8% (antelife) cheaper or $164 (Buyincoins)? I think Aliexpress is too expensive. And I presume for these models that were received, they are all not Android 4.2?

        • Unbelievable. When I checked this morning there were plenty of deals on Aliexpress for around $166 delivered. Now they've put up their prices on mass. Wonder if it is such a hot selling item that they charge more?

        • Buyincoins has 8% off using discount code as per http://www.buyincoins.com/lp/Double-Discount-Tablet-PC.html

        • I don't know anything about the Antelife website, coupon-wise or otherwise, and can't be bothered looking. I can tell you that Buyincoins did have did a tablet and e-reader specific 8% coupon that is likely now expired, but I have found you another that may work. Try DOZQSVAPP.
If that doesn't work, Buyincoins, Tmart and Tinydeal almost always have a valid coupons going for at 5% off everything. Coupons that may be working on Buyincoins at the moment are PPuseronly and KEXERJOE.
          Hope that helps.

        • You beat me while I was lazily typing, binary01…

  • Cheapest at $160 usd shipped at Etbuying. Can add to cart but make sure they actually have them in stock as many places are sold out.
Can't comment on reputation of company.

  • I got my unit today, it came with 4.0.4, so that was a great 2 week wait for nothing…

other than that, it's a good unit. Can't seem to charge via usb but i'm still playing around with it.

    • Count yourself lucky. Asked Merimobiles via email when Jellybean will be released and he replied "Hi they did release the Jelly Bean firmware however it is not very good at present I suggest that you stay on the Android 4.0.4 firmware".

Looks like they flashed them back with 4.04 to avoid complaints. Shame though it took so long to get your tablet:-(

    • Are you happy with the build quality, speed and display on the unit?
I am not a big fan of 7" tabs and like 8" tabs, but currently could not find anything good by Hyundai.

If these are quite good, I might try their 10" (I meant 10" tabs, before someone cracks a joke) ones.

      • So far I'm very happy. The tablet is responsive and fast, no freezes or unexpected reboots. Display is sharp but everything, icons and such, is smaller than on the Nexus 7. I installed Apex launcher free from Playstore to increase icon size and also increased font size. Looks great now. Built quality is good, no complaints. GPS and hdmi all work perfectly. Can hook up my powered external hdd or flashdrive tru usb and use them without a hitch.

I like the 7" for when I go out, small and light, quite portable. Also have a 10" tab I use at home. I think the battery in their 10" is much bigger so might last longer.

        • Thanks for the review. BTW, 8" and 7" tabs are almost same in size. I dont like display of 7" being too long and less wide.

  • New update for all of us still waiting:

    Dear Valued Customer,

Happy Mother’s day to all your mothers!

We know that you have long been waiting for your Hyundai T7S and we truly appreciate you for doing so. It has been very tough for you waiting and tough for us in finding ways to keep you happy with our service that we intend to always provide.

We have been going back and forth with Hyundai about the Android version that was supposed to be on the tablets as advertised. The T7S is very unstable on the Jelly Bean. It has been a trial and error battle. In the end, the best Android version that is suited for the Hyundai T7S Quad Core is the Android Ice Cream on Sandwich 4.0.2 that provided pristine performance.

Now all that is left to do is to wait for the tablets to arrive. I am very confident that the wait is truly worth it as the Hyundai T7S is considered to be the best 7 incher out in the market with the Samsung Exynos CPU at the best price of value. They are expected to be delivered to us by the end of next week and we’ll start shipping on Monday next week.

We are grateful to your continued support and unending patience with us.

    Thank you,

  • Just wanted to add that I think Merimobiles is in a big bind in regards to this predicament. Their service so far has been unmatched.

How accountable the manufacturer should be to this delay would be a good discussion area.

Why I mention is because other sites are continuously shipping these devices, with delay apparently here.

Does anyone else know how this delay would impact our possibility of refund through PayPal?
