    Battery life:
got it friday around miday… ran out of batteries about 9PM installing and playing with it…
took it off the charger mid morning saturday, with light use, sunday night i rekon i still had about 30-40% when I plugged it in over night again…(Mobile data disabled) been on for a few hours (since about 7:30) medium use (mobile data only on for about 10 minutes) and still pretty much full..

    fast, nice crisp screen,

rekon i could easily get 3 days, no mobile data light usage.
hoping the ebay screen potector and case come in the next couple of days.

    Order time:
ordered mine on the first day they where availible about 2PM(1st nov).
shipping said 4-8 weeks or something (for a black 32) got an email monday saying it was shipping(4th of Nov), and would be here wednesday according to fedex- they didnt pick it up from google for a couple of days, but it managed to get here friday(9th) about midday.

update: with moderate use and 4G/wifi enabled thought the day I seem to have about 45-50% left each night…

      • Thanks for the update. Battery life is my biggest concern which has deterred me from ordering one so far. Seems like it isn't as bad as it seemed.

How do you find the upgraded camera?

      • I'm finding the same results, 4G, c2 hours of browsing and email and it's left with about 50% at the end of the day. I'm considering the google qi charger. It's $49 in the US.

The only thing that concerns me is how much data it's using. It appears there is a few tweaks I need to do to stop so many background tasks running.

  • One more thing…
The QI charging works brilliantly with the Nokia charging pad I bought — which was an el cheapo from DSE after an alert from OzB. Life is good.

  • What cases did everyone buy? I just bought the nexus 5 black, I'm expecting to wait a month..

  • Hey Guys,
I recently purchased a Spigen Neo Hybrid Nexus 5 Case (Metal Slate). Its a really good case (very high quality) but it is a bit too big for my liking.
If anyone is interested in buying it off me, please PM me. Cheers

  • Any update on the black nexus 5 orders?

  • i bought one, 32 gb black, estimated shipping time was showing as 2-3 weeks.

the estimate on my order says to be shipped on 8th December.

anyone knows how reliable are these estimates ?

  • hi guys.
Tried ordering spigen slim.armor case for nexus 5 from the amazon link posted above but got this error.

There is a slight problem with your order.
We're sorry. This item can't be shipped to your selected destination. You may either change the shipping address or delete the item from your order.

Any one knows where to buy from and the price including shipping. Thanks.

    Just saw this at Telstra:

Consumer customers can purchase the Nexus 5 on the $60 Every Day Connect Plan with a $9 handset repayment per month (when you stay connected for 24 months)… Nexus 5 will also be available to be purchased outright in Telstra stores for $696 RRP.

That really makes $399/$450 on Google Play Store a bargain.

    • highway robbery… I hate Telstra for this reason…

    • $60 Every Day Connect Plan has the same inclusions as the $50 EDCP BYO. So in essence you pay $10 more plus $9 handset repayment, now do your sums again and they'll be worse.

  • Bought a 16gb Black yesterday, set to ship on 6th December but I suspect it will be shipped a bit sooner as all the fuss has died down a bit, so demand should have steadied before the Christmas season.

  • OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

haven't searched though the thread yet but…
potentially improve speed and battery life of kitcat devices!!!

one of my workmates put it on his nexus 4 yesterday… it's running faster now!

    http://www.androidpolice.com/2013/11/06/meet-art-part-1-the-…

basically a new way android processes data, instead of half compiled apps it fully compiles it, meaning its faster as it doesn't need to do it on the fly.

    • I've got this enabled on my N5 - not noticably faster, but then again the phone is blazing as-is. There's not much room for improvement till stuff gets more demanding :P

      • Yep the N5 is already fast enough. The real benefit might be in longer battery life. I've seen reports of an additional 10% or so. But this is still a work in progress so it might get better.

    • I did this a week ago - Whatsapp stopped working completely.

      Didn't test many other apps.

      • yeah got reports from the guy at work that happened to him too.

        • Keep an eye on App Updates. Titanium Backup had this problem too but finally the newest update resolved it so it works on ART as well.

  • Got mine yesterday. Crazy fast phone.

Best phone I've ever owned. Very happy.

  • I got a screen protector for mine in the city last week (Melbourne) - phone shop near the vic market, 10-12 bux(depending on which one you want), and she even put it on with no bubbles!

  • Can we claim tax on this if we leave australia?

  • -1

I used to place an order with tax appeared on it, but then with some reason I cancelled it. Just about 20 mins ago, the new order I placed shown no tax on it!! Then I called Google customer service but obviously they didn't know what happened (or at least they don't want you to know what has changed). Did anyone have the same issue like me? Cos I want to claim TRS when I travelling overseas. Wait for any reply! Urgent!

    • Sounds nothing urgent to me. They found the problem in their invoice system (as everyone here did) and they fixed it, after the fix no one will claim back the tax he didn't actually pay. So get over it, it's just a $40 profit loss and N5 is still a good phone well worth that price.
