  • +2

come on, I don't need this, why the deal exists???!!!

    • To make you $9.95 poorer, duh!

  • +2

    I don't have a laptop but bought a lap desk. I don't have a TV, should I buy a mount?

    • -1

      Same question here

      • +2

Of course you should! It's cheap. Buy two.

        • you cant buy two with one account, because COTD only allow you to use the coupon once.
but you can always register another account with a different email…

  • +2

    STOP IT! NO MORE!

  • +1

Don't need this yet too, but thinking ahead, it might be useful in case my mother decides to replace the old CRT, analogue TV in her room (no more channels due to digital only in Perth now). Now, to get her to buy a new 32" TV…

Does anyone know if these wall mounts will work with most 32" screen brands, or just Philips?

    • VESA wall mount compatible: 200 x 100 mm, 200
      x 200 mm, 200 x 300 mm, 300 x 300 mm, 400 x
      300 mm

      Should fit most TV's

Thanks! Also would be great if people posted any specials on 32" TV's they've noticed :)

        • +4

          maybe a $9.95 32" lcd @COTD using code HOTLCD

  • +1

32-42", but weight limit is 50kg … I assume they're trying to be safe and not say it's compatible with 55" LED TVs (~25kg) just in case someone tries to hang a 55" plasma?

  • Sold! I mean bought! Just couldn't resist the price.

  • +1

Tilt? Perfect for the boat or caravan :)
Or for DIY-ers who don't own a spirit level???

I guess that's why it is selling for $10, so no point complaining about the useless function. Bought!

This is way more useful than the "lapdesk".

  • Are these safe to mount on a chipbloc/plaster wall?

    • +5

Sure, so lomg as you don't hang a TV on it.

How about screwing it into the wall studs?

      • i dont know how to locate the studs

i live in an apartment also

        • +1

it'd be a good idea to ask a friend who does. You don't want your expensive TV dropping to the ground, or fill your wall with holes because you keep missing the studs!

        • +1

I can laugh at this because I live in WA, where we build our houses with brick walls.
Why is that? Too many termites?

        • Brick houses don't stop/deter termites.

        • +1

          @maniac
I can laugh at this because i live with Civilisation

unfortunately housing affordablity isnt that great, resulting in apartment living and cheap materials used for walls

  • +1

Thank you! I haven't actually use CotD before. Does anyone know how long shipping is on average?

    • Normally 5-6 days in my cases

  • …must…resist…buying…

    • +4

      resistance… is… futile…

  • I can't find any option to use this coupon code in the shopping cart , if possible, please advice?

    • Me neither

      • Its probably at the checkout

    • +7

There's a "Have a coupon code?" in small writing in between the total and the sub total.
It's on the cart page before you click to go to the checkout.

      • Thanks!

  • Great price, had to get one.

  • +1

  • Nice one. Just ordered. Thanks OP.

  • works.thanks

  • +1

After a cup of hot coffee i am able to resist this temptation!! I'm proud of myself!

  • Bought.

  • very nice!!! i was after one of these… now to find an installer to do the job… anyone have any suggestions for Melbourne?

    • +11

Go to your bathroom and look in the mirror.
He might not know much, but he is cheap and can read the 2-page installation manual.

      • dont you need to install on a piller etc etc so the TV doesn't fall off the wall??

    • if you are in western suburb area or close to (vic), call pointcookhandyman , he is great!

      • thanks mate!

  • +1

    Bought!!

It's easy to install, make sure you find at least one stud, the other side (if you can't find a stud, and I mean WALL STUD), then use a buetterfly screw made for plaster board, Bunnings has them, a few dollars each.)

EDIT:The way I see it, you must secure the curve bar onto a stud, normally studs are located 33cms (something like that apart) so with a bit of luck you can secure both ends of that curved metal onto the wall studs. good luck!

EDIT2: another tip, if you want to hide the cables the cables in the wall, make sure you don't mount it higher than 1.2 meters from the ground, plaster sheets are 1.2 meters tall when they are installed, so at the 1.2 meter mark there will be a Noggin (short stud that goes horizontal from one vertical stud to another), it will be wise to mount slightly below this noggin so cables can freely drop down to the floor (behind the wall). at the floor level drill a 2inch hole and use a coat hanger to fish out the cables. any more help / clarification let me know.

    • Jimmy- I think that anything going into the plasterboard usually has a capacity of 5-8 kg. probably ok on one side if the tv itself is 15kg or so. The firm fix takes half the load.

I have seen guys take off a piece of the plasterboard and replace with ply (to studs) then fix the mount to the ply.

Spacing between vertical studs usually 60cm.

  • +2

Didn't need it. Now bought it.

  • Argh, OK, I got one :) Is there any reason why it wouldn't hold a 51 inch TV that's about 25 kgs?

    • It will hold. Phillips pdf specifies up to 50kg.
So 25kg will be piece of cake.

      • i was thinking the same.. i have a 32' for the bedroom so this will be fine for it.
however a 50' for the living room and i'm wondering why the specs quote a 32' to 42' and not beyond that

        • As someone mentioned earlier, its to stop people hanging a 60kg 50inch plasma on it.

  • Can anyone give an example of the swivel feature being useful?

    • +2

The Philips site mentions the tiling adjustment is to make it easier to level.
Nothing worse than measuring, drilling and hanging only to realise its slightly tilted.

  • Thanks, ordered not sure for what!!!!

  • +2

Don't need one but bought anyways. Sometimes I wonder if ozbargain actually saves me money or makes me spend more on useless things haha

  • …only reason I bought becos it felt SO good post entering the COUPON……No idea what I gonna do with it…..:)

  • For $10… had to give in and buy one. Looks decent quality, not like the usual yumcha

  • Bought one not sure why, anyone manages to mount a 55" LED on it, please give a review.

  • +2

Tip for mounting, use that filla foam, spray in the hole and then insert wall plug (brick wall) for that extra security, useful when you have hollow core bricks. Could also use for stud wall as a reinforcing medium when you do not have a stud to fix to, remember to clean it up as it expands and escapes from the hole.

  • Bought one. But this type of wall mount doesnt look like I can slide the tv left/right across the bracket? So the TV position is limited to where the studs are located behind my wall correct?

  • sold out

  • +1

    • Same received mine as well.

    • Received and packaged well.
