iPad 3 64GB Wi-Fi + Cellular $539 Target - Liverpool

710

I saw this offer at Target Liverpool, there were only 3 pcs on the shelf, not sure if more behind the counter so be quick, the price label says $719 but I asked the shop assistant to scan it and it came out to $539 because they have additional 25% off everything with purple tag price, so you may also find other interesting stuff in the electronics department such as cameras or media players, or different docks for ipod or iphone, many covers as well

Does it have the A6 and lightning connector (iPad with retina display) or is the the "new iPad" version? Would be surprised if they still had A5s in stock. It would only cost $512 for me after my staff discount, but then you're in Sydney.

    • +2

Title says ipad 3. That means "new ipad".

        • +2

          how is that relevant???

        • +2

          how is that relevant???

Ladies and gentlemen, this is Chewbacca. Chewbacca is a Wookiee from the planet Kashyyyk. But Chewbacca lives on the planet Endor. Now think about it; that does not make sense!

      • -2

Yeah well, excuse me if I'm just a little in disbelief that they still had these 6 months after they got phased out, thus the thought it may have been a mix up on the deal poster's part.

        • Why would they sell the current gen at $539 when it retails at $899

Considering Apple still sells the iPad 2 I find it hard to believe you're in disbelief about someone selling the iPad 3…

        • Target is still selling iPad 2 in their online store as well.

        • Why would they sell the current gen at $539 when it retails at $899

Pricing error, from the sounds of it. It didn't even scan at the price it was listed at.

Considering Apple still sells the iPad 2 I find it hard to believe you're in disbelief about someone selling the iPad 3…

iPad 3 was replaced by iPad 4. They stopped making them after iPad 4. iPad 2 was never replaced nor did they ever cease production on it. It was always going to remain their budget option.

BTW, Apple doesn't like people calling it 3 and 4. That's why they came up with new names for it.

Honestly, I find it hard to believe that you find it hard to believe that I find it hard to believe Target still has stock on iPad3s after all this time.

        • Target is still selling iPad 2 in their online store as well.

Yes, because Apple still makes them. They stopped making iPad3s long ago though.

      • +1

        Oh its "the new iPad"!!!!

      • -6

Why is this so hard for people to understand? It's exactly like the iPod naming system, ie.

        iPad GEN 1
        iPad GEN 2
        iPad GEN 3
        iPad GEN 4

The same method that has been for years with iPods. Apple has not once called an iPod Touch 1/2/3/4… or iPod Nano 1/2/3/4… or iPod Minni 1/2/3/4/5…so why do people get so confused with iPads.

        Idiots.

        • LOL, dude you are the biggest Apple fanboi ever!

You could even be the reincarnation of L. Ron Jobs! :p

        • +1

Not being retarded and understanding basic product numbering makes me a fanboy? I actually used an Android phone for the first 3 months of the year so I could make a fair judgement. I also brought a family member the cheap Coles Android device yesterday. I'm planning on adding Android development to my skillset in the coming months…just because I like Apple doesn't make me a fanboy.

        • just because I like Apple doesn't make me a fanboy.

No, it doesn't…however, persistently carrying on like a pork chop whenever somebody voices dissent over Apple stupidity sure as hell does!

Don't try kidding us kidders! You used to be in every Android post bagging them out, and every Apple one championing the cause…you still are in plenty FFS. Yeah, you eased up a little recently, and you've mentioned buying Android devices a few times in the interests of appearing slightly less biased; but dude you have a proven track record of being the consummate fanboi! ;)

Let's face cold hard facts here, Apple created the confusion, not end users…naming last season's product; which they knew would eventually be superseded anyway; "The New iPad" is gloriously retarded in it's grandiosity!!! Only a first-rate fanboi could ignore that…

        • -3

There has never been a product called the "New iPad", the product name simply became "iPad" just as iPod generations have never featured in the name. It was however marketed as "the new iPad" because…it was new. The dumb thing was continuing to call the iPad 2, the iPad 2. It should have been renamed to iPad Basic or something.

There are lots of things wrong with Android, and I will continue to point them out. There are also LOTS of things wrong with iOS, which is why I jailbreak. If I couldn't jailbreak, I would never buy iOS devices.

        • +1

It was however marketed as "the new iPad" because…it was new.

Thereby creating the confusion…just typical Apple wank marketing. Could have easily been avoided by calling it iPad…umm, what comes after 2???

The dumb thing was continuing to call the iPad 2, the iPad 2.

No, that was pretty much the only logical naming convention they've managed in the whole debacle.

It should have been renamed to iPad Basic or something.

Nope, that would have led to even more confusion…actually, now you've mentioned it I'm surprised that they didn't do that, it would be classic Apple! ;)

There are lots of things wrong with Android…There are also LOTS of things wrong with iOS…

Agreed. However, berating end users for rightly questioning what was undeniably idiotic marketing hype driven naming conventions from Apple doesn't help anyone!

        • -1

So what was the alternative? Apple Clearly wanted to get new hardware out there faster (ie. 6 month refresh cycles), in 3 years did you expect Apple to be selling iPad 9? That just looks stupid. At some point they had to draw a line in the sand and switch to the new system.

The reason we haven't seen it happen with iPhones is because they are still in 12 month refresh cycles and because every second release is an "S" release. Meaning numbers don't increment as fast.

And is it any more stupid than Samsung's naming? Eg. The "Galaxy Tab 7.7" is actually superior to the Galaxy Tab TWO 7.0".

        • So what was the alternative? Apple Clearly wanted to get new hardware out there faster (ie. 6 month refresh cycles), in 3 years did you expect Apple to be selling iPad 9?

Why not, most of us can still count; and there's plenty of numbers left in the base10 system for them…or they could perhaps try making refresh cycles less frequent & more salient?

The reason we haven't seen it happen with iPhones is because they are still in 12 month refresh cycles and because every second release is an "S" release. Meaning numbers don't increment as fast.

Umm, you've just answered your own question BTW bro.

And is it any more stupid than Samsung's naming?

Yeah, it is…well, just as stupid anyway…stupid is as stupid does, Forrest! ;)

Eg. The "Galaxy Tab 7.7" is actually superior to the Galaxy Tab TWO 7.0".

You do realise that the 7.7 is a different product line altogether with a different screen size as well, right??? I have a 7.7 BTW, awesome tab…those who want one but can't get it can thank your awesomely litigious mates at Apple for it's paucity BTW, courtesy of their European ban!

You're slipping back into fanboi mode again, where does all this unresolved Samsung hate come from? :p

        • Different product line? Both are Galaxy Tab. To the average consumer Galaxy Tab 7.7 is a 7.7" tablet from the first generation, Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 is a 7" tablet from second generation. Surely second generation should have higher specs than the first?

As for iPad 9, if you really think that's marketable as a product name, there's no point discussing that further with you.

        • Different product line? Both are Galaxy Tab.

Ok, by that logic iPad & iPad mini are also the same product line…right??? Gimme a break…

As for iPad 9, if you really think that's marketable as a product name, there's no point discussing that further with you.

Why not, is the name not cool & wanky enough for you; or is basic arithmetic not your strong suit???

        • iPad Mini and iPad are the same product line yes. Which is why you will never see an iPad Mini 2. It will confuse the consumer.

What you call wanky, marketing people would call effective.

        • -1

iPad Mini and iPad are the same product line yes.

Ok, so why is it not in your iPad chronology above?

What you call wanky, marketing people would call effective.

Yes, wanky marketing is effective…on wankers! Smart people buy tools to do a job based on performance for price, sheep buy them based on fancy names & fluff…which do you want to be?

        • -1

Oh dear, and it always comes back to this doesn't it. This notion that Apple people have too much money and just buy their products to be cool. Every company tries to market their products as cool, but just because Apple is good at it suddenly they become "wanky". Grow up.

        • Oh dear, and it always comes back to this doesn't it.

Yes, it does…that makes it no less true. Apple markets to people like you. Kudos to them for it BTW, your own fanboi fervour is testament to their success. Good on them for getting rich by playing fools off against each other.

Let's not forget, you're the one that came in here first calling other users "idiots" because they've reiterated the fact that Apple did a half-arsed job with the iPad naming conventions…go look up the word hypocrite!

I'd normally suggest maturing a bit yourself, but let's face facts here, you've been rabidly pro-apple/anti-samsung trolling for years, you aren't going to change a bit!

        • -1

Same old crap from Android people. Think they know everything. I got my first Mac back in the mid 90s, trust me they weren't "cool" then. I use Apple because I like iOS (with some essential jailbreak tweaks) and because I love OS X. I've tried all of the competition, in fact I use most daily for work. I'm not some ignorant fanboy blind to the competition, I am a fan. If the day comes some other OS better suits MY needs I'll switch. Until then, feel free to state your opinion but don't dare think you know anything about me.

Just picked up a iPad 3 (32Gb Wifi) for $397 from Bondi last iPad 3 of any sort. Thanks OP

    • +22
      1. not the newest gen Ipad
      2. Ipad is not a phone
      3. isn't the ing 5% off for transactions <$100 ?
      4. after all the pro's you have mentioned, it still doesn't deserve a + ?
      • +3

        Its the "new" old ipad.

        • +10

          Old new ipad, actually

        1. Ok maybe not the newest ipad.
        2. I was comparing the hardware… Processor/hardware
        3. You can use ing paywave $5 rebate separate transactions $99.99
        4. You can of course use the staff discount card if you have one!!!
    • +14

what DE-vok are you trying to say?

      • +1

I see what you did there…

  • +3

Ffs apple look how much confusion you are causing. People cant tell if its the newest ipad without doing a google search. Why would you name a product new when you know you will produce newer one

  • +6

Just to clear up for the few people that are confused

    iPad 1 - No longer sold/produced new
iPad 2 - Still manufactured and sold new as 'ipad2'
ipad 3 - Called 'the new ipad' no longer produced (possible some old stock still floating around) this model does also have a retina display
ipad 4 - Called 'ipad with Retina display'. Still (obviously) in production - first ipad to use the new lightning connector
ipad5 - Not out yet (possible release either June or October (my money is on October!!)

    • +4

Apple should really name the Ipad3 as the "Ipad with retina display" and Ipad 4 as "the new Ipad" and everything would be fine until the day Ipad 5 comes out :)
P.s i just hope Aplle doesn't call Ipad5 as "Ipad with lightning connector" XD

      • Based off their naming convention.

"the new ipad with retina display"
        "the newest ipad"
        "the new ipad2"

BTW GregFiona, ipad with ret has a lightning connector, so that's out of the window.

        • +3

That was his point, as the new ipad also had a retina screen, so no it's not out.

        • +1

          ;)

    • +2

Fk de Apple. I don't care what Apple name their iPads, but I'm going to call them iPad 3, iPad 4 …5 and so on.

  • Just called the Joondalup WA store and got them to scan iPad with retina 64gb WiFi and it still scans at $759.

    • Did they scan them in front of you? Maybe they are saving them for themselves and lied to you?

      • nah over the phone, they told me there was no sale on iPads but you did get an accessory pack for free. I then asked them to scan to double check, and I heard something being scanned over the phone.

Figure if they were keeping them, they would just tell me that there was no stock available.

        • maybe they didn't know the 25% discount applied on ipad 3 until they scanned it but already too late to lie to you they didn't have any in stock. Anyway, I will try my local Target if they have any.

    • Just called the Joondalup WA store and got them to scan iPad with retina 64gb WiFi and it still scans at $759.

It's the wifi + cellular one that's $539, not the wifi only one.

  • can only see women with bra

  • rouse hill nsw has a 16 GB ipad 3 …. but the price is 450+

They agreed to give 25% off on 32 and 64 gb versions (after calling liverpool nsw store)…but no 32 or 64 gb in stock.

they refused to give 16gb for 25% off

They scanned everything in front of me … the guy was good … he was really trying to help me out.

He also mentioned I am the first one to come to the store asking 25% off

  • -1

Bought the last 2 at target erina fair.
    64gb cellular for $539 and 32gb WiFi for $397.

    • +16

      then why no +ve vote?

  • OK guys, hopefully I can clear a few things up.

it is the Ipad 3 that is the one on clearance (which is 'The New iPad' not 'iPad with retina' etc). ALL models are reduced and are great prices. I have just phoned every store in the greater Brisbane area, no stock is left. There is a possibility that some stores just have lazy staff as some just said 'nup' off the top of their head and others actually went out back to check.

I tried matching at my local HN's but no dice, needs to be on the website or catalouge, which its not.

    good luck guys!

    • -1

You have not cleared things up because the 'new ipad' (the ipad 3 on sale) does have retina as well.

It isn't, of course, your fault. It is Apples.

Some people also prefer the 'new ipad' the ipad 3 over the current ipad the 'iPad with retina' (the ipad 4) because it has the old connector and doesn't have as as bad heating issues.

      • +2

No I think I was very clear.

'iPad with retina display' is the name of the forth generation of iPad. As I said, the one on special is 'The New iPad' which I mention is otherwise known as the iPad 3. So I mention both iPad 3rd gen and 4th gen in my post. Where is the confusion?

if people cant work out the difference, they probably shouldnt be buying an iPad (as they wont know if they're being ripped off or not).

        • The confusion is caused by ipad 3 not having retina in its name.

          Apples fault.

        • the confusion comes from the fact the 4th gen is called "iPad with retina", but in fact retina display got introduced with iPad 3 aka "the new iPad".

        • +2

          yep, thats why I said:

'it is the Ipad 3 that is the one on clearance (which is 'The New iPad' not 'iPad with retina' etc)'

you're right, its a terrible naming convention, explaining it to the woman at Target was a mission, however I spelt it out clear. As did the OP when he said iPad 3.

Its the posters here who are going into target asking for the 'iPad with retina' etc and then being surprised that its not on special, they're the ones causing confusion here.

'The New iPad' AKA: iPad 3, iPad 3rd gen = on special
'iPad with Retina Display' AKA: iPad 4, iPad 4th gen or even "the newest iPad out" etc = not on special, will scan at normal price.

  • I checked in the Target on the Bourke Street, Melbourne store and there are no specials on Ipad there.

  • +1

Just picked up the iPad 3 16GB with 4G for $419 from target Burwood NSW.

    • ah man, really wanted that one in particular and what a great price!

none here in SE QLD :(

    • You were in front of me and picked up the last 16GB with cellular from that store… (good on you)
Now they only have 64GB cellular left…

      • I called during the day asking them to set one aside, they probably sold out the others earlier in the day.

    • +3

Umm the iPad 3 with 4G will not work in Australia.. (The 4G bit)

  • Does anyone had any luck in Melb?

I have tried Chadstone, Knox & Glen. They don't have any in stock.

    • None in CBD also.

    None in Newcastle stores either

did anyone get a 16 gb wifi only with 25% off?

  • Can anyone upload the receipt. I tried in WA ( Cannington, East victoria park and Osborne Park) no luck.

    • I tried bullcreek WA, only one last 16 gb ipad 3 left scanned without 25%off even after i got them to call up store manager. Maybe 25% off only for 32 gb and 64 gb ipad 3

      • yes, that seems correct, based on my experience too ..

I was able to get the 16gb wifi one, but when scanned there was no discount.

Looks like 25% discount was only applied to above $500 iPads (example 16 GB + 3G, 32 GB etc)

  • it is interesting to note that target still carries the Ipad 2 ($409).

Not sure why they didn't discount it …

    • +2

iPad 2 is still in production, iPad3 is not…

    Thanks OP

    • Which store - and do they have any more left?

    • Where from?

    • +1

      Lucky kids….
Mine only get non-Samsung Android tablets…

    • Broadmeadows, Airport west and fountain gate.
As far as I was told I got the last from each store.
I call shenanigans. Most of the staff didn't even know that they were on sale and as soon as they found out stock disappeared.

I was on the phone to either northlands or doncaster, im not really sure as i rang pretty much all of them. The bloke said he'll check at the back. He forgot to put me on hold and while I was waiting I could hear the scanner beep 5 times. Then the guy says" omg $456, that's cheap, they are all the same price" in the distance and I'm assuming to a colleague. He then came back on the phone and said that they ran out. I did lose my poop but to no avail. I could hear his smirk over the phone.

:-) I knew I should leave it there. Was tempted to buy both, but ended up with just one. It would be greedy to take the last one as well if I didn't needed it.
Personally don't like Apple as a company, but even as such I must admit that their iPads just works. As this is for my dad (over 70) it seems ideal. Limited in many ways, but working flawlessly. Enjoy it!
EDIT: Hey, +ve the deal ;-)

      • Nice to see someone that is willing to share… I dislike apple but their great generally works initially….. Seen too many fail and don't qualify for warranty… And as many fail and get swapped/repaired

  • None in Geelong City or Waurn Ponds
