Brent's Bits $2 Day Is Here Again!

1340

Hey folks, me again, the $2 day was so successful a couple of months ago I had to wait till I had good amounts of everything before posting it again. I have seven different things for you, all for $2 each.

Something that's super important (to me) if you are purchasing multiple items, can you please click the "Continue Shopping" link in the check out and keep shopping rather than checking out for each individual item, the reason for this is that Paypal not only charges a percentage of the transaction but also a per transaction fee and it would make it cheaper for me and also incidentally make it so you don't have to checkout multiple times. If you could do that that would be super.

The link in the title is to my eBay store, the links below are to the products directly:

There's plenty of other stuff available in the store as well, usb cables for the chargers and whatnot. Anyway, any questions, just put em here and I will do my best to answer :-)

Cheers and thanks again for your support,

Brent

I've got a pair of logitech UE 4000 with microphone built in. But it's a single cable for the audio and microphone. Do you have a splitter so i can plug i the audio and mic into my pc?

    • +4

no, it doesn't work like that, you need the two separate plugs, one for the microphone input and the other for the headphone output. sorry I can't help :-)

    • +6

PlayerOne, I just had a quick search for a cable for you thinking it'd be fairly easy but they seem to be unobtainium. After a few minutes I manage to find this so I hope it helps: http://www.showmecables.com/product/iPhone-Head-Set-Breakout…

I'm surprised they're not easier to find as you'd assume lots of people would want to do this hey. Odd.

      • I'm lookin for something with 1 female socket and 2 male plugs so i can plug it into my PC. SteveAndBelle found just the exact item im looking for!

That website seems so expensive thought. $10 for item + $20 shipping. Brent stock this item for us please.

    • +4

Here you go, $2.80. I found it by searching for "iPhone splitter" on eBay.

I use this splitter all day long at work and it works fine.

      http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com.au/viewitem?itemId=2810945817…

      • +1

Ha, nice work Muzzamo! It's sometimes the simplest searches the yield the results hey :)

        • +1

I don't think that this one will do the job, I have those splitters in my own inventory BUT what he was after was a cable that would allow him to plug both the headphones and microphone into the same socket, but if you plug them into a single socket on the PC, it's either the headphone out socket or the microphone in socket which means that whichever socket it's plugged into won't be able to take the other line's input or output because it's not geared to do so.

I could be wrong but I don't think the 3.5mm plugs and cables are bidirectional.

The first one that SteveAndBelle linked bears further investigation though. I would be very curious as to how it worked.

        • No pretty sure he just wanted to be able to use both the headphones and mic with his PC (and using 2 plugs to do that isn't a problem)

        • +5

The one muzzamo just posted is just a double adapter thing as brent (I'm assuming thats his name) said.

This is the one you need. Much cheaper than the one SteveandBelle was able to find.
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/3-5mm-Mic-Stereo-Audio-Y-Splitter…

Just search for something like '3.5mm mic splitter' on ebay. I just ordered one myself yesterday. Notice that it splits one female 3.5mm jack into 2 male which are labelled as headphones and mic which you plug into the computer, not the other way round like the one posted above.

        • I could be wrong but I think he wants to go the other way, two plugs from his headphones to a single plug on his computer

        • Nice find.

          Just ordered 2.

        • Even nicer work gazlaz. Perfect.

        • the UE 4000 is earphones + mic with 1 plug.. what gazlaz posted above is exactly what he needs.. i've actually got that exact same plug from DX —> http://dx.com/p/3-5mm-female-to-audio-microphone-male-adapte…

          but it flipped my L & R channels :S

Everything that's being discounted has already been discounted. My prices are set at the lowest I can make them and still make it worthwhile to be in business.

      • +13

        I understand how you feel.
You discount and reduce to the point where eBay and PayPal are the only ones making the profit and the customers still complain that its still too expensive.

        • +8

I understand people after a bargain, so I just tell it like it is in terms of why I can't go any further :-)

        • Thats exactly my point, You have to go to the bare bottom dollar to please people (and then they still complain)

        • If it was a problem I wouldn't post here :-)

        • +9

What do you mean? Is this a suggestion of the quality of my products or the quality of customers? :-)

    • Whoops, fixed, sorry bout that.

  • -1

    LOL Squabbles over 20C

    LOL

    • -7

Yep, thats right. Neg me for telling it how it is.

      • +6

you need to get some sleep if a few negs are really bothering you dude…

      • fixed that with a +

  • +3

    im not bothered,
i just find if funny how someone tries to give people the best deal they can and other tight asses still complain about 20c

  • +15

Looks like people like getting their hands on Brent's bits. I had a look at his bits but that's as far as it went.

    • +34

OK, I don't want to be rude but that's currently the lowest price on eBay, what more do you want? Also, this isn't a thread for you to beat me down on price. I have discounted seven different items for you to choose from.

If you want a deal, I have 3 for $7.50 but otherwise have a bit of respect for my business.

They might get discounted in the future, they might not but currently the price is as listed.

      • +4

I have to admire you on the fact that it would significant physical effort to ship a product at such low martins.. I can rarely be bothered shipping anything off ebay unless I'm making at least $20. Kudos to you Brent, kudos.

        • +1

I know what you mean, once you start to do some volume it becomes a bit easier to do though, you get a process and it still takes time but becomes more worth the effort :-)

    • +10

You've gotta be kidding…Ebay & Papal will take roughly 10% as soon as you press buy it now, he's posting it free at a cost of at least $0.70 - $0.80c, and he has to recover the price he paid for the cable in the first place. He'd be lucky to make a $1.00, not forgetting handling time and getting it from his house to the Aussie Post mailbox !!!

      • +1

ebay and paypal come to approximately 12-13% of the cost, just so you know.

I'm working on a proper web store of my own with credit card processing independent of paypal but it's hard to find a good and inexpensive developer.

        • +14

          thats bordering on this ridiculous

          its a $2.85 cable… shipped

what do you want? 85c off?

would it kill you to pay $2.85?

i'd personally refused to do business with someone this crazy

          banned like the soup nazi!

        • +6

if only I could find out people's ebay username's i would actually soup nazi the hell out of a few people to be honest. Basically everyone here on OzBargain are good (if demanding) to deal with, some just go dancing over the line though.

        • Try one of those freelancer websites, they're usually cheap and decent quality.

        • +4

Very difficult to deal with sometimes though just because of the language barrier. As in "I would like this done this way please" "Yes, totally, we can do that for you, here it is" "that's not really what I wanted" "Please pay us for it anyway".

        • +1

All he really needs to do is find a nice ecommerce CMS, most of them have a good payment system options which can be added (ranging from paypal to direct deposit and everything in between). Design wise he could just get someone to make one for it once hes got the shop set up and running.

        • +1

Can totally relate to that. Pretty frustrating, but even in freelance world… you get what you pay for. The better programmers demand more.

        • I have no problem paying for quality, it's just the budget that has a problem with it :-)

        • +1

Good luck with your new website - just make sure the checkout page is https :-P

        • Someone suggested to try freelance site, and you gave the response of "language barrier" as the problem. I suggested to pay more for a better programmer who natively speaks English (such as one in the USA) and now you've said it's the "budget" thats the problem…

    • +2

I think siuol thought this was gumtree…

    • +5

$2.85 a bit steep for you?

    • STRONG TROLL/10

  • +15

Some people dont understand "a business" involves overheads of many kinds and feel ripped off if the retailer makes 1c profit.
They need to learn that not everyone lives off their parents and it is a mean & expensive world outside the cosy nest.

    • I'm sure if they actually did live off their parents they would never learn how hard it is to make money and run a business and I'm sure we would not be having this discussion! :)

    • +1.

  • +1

Hi Bren, can you do me a deal if i get 10 x HDMI Right Angle Adapter? (or maybe 15) :)

    • +3

Minimum quantity for wholesale pricing at this stage is 50 units, if you want that many, let me know and I will work something out for you.

  • +5

Hey brentsbits, how did you know I was after some of this stuff? Thanks.
If you want you could combine my orders into one parcel to save on your postage costs, the environment and my precious letterbox space.

    • +8

      cause I'm psychotic…..errrr psychic

      • lol

      • ebay really needs a shopping cart feature for buying multiple items from one store

        • +1

You click on the keep shopping button, or you just buy them in separate windows and then ask me to send you a combined cost invoice.

  • +1

what is the amperage of your dual usb car charger on ebay?

    • Total output is 2.1A over both the sockets, I believe that each socket can output that as well but if you have to things plugged in it would be 1A each roughly. Make sure you have a cable that supports that kind of current, none of mine do at this stage I am working on sourcing ones that do.

      • thanks for that.. just a shame that the plug is so big cos it's gonna take up another socket on my 3 in 1 board

  • +3

    Thnaks bret, ignore the haters

  • +7

Geez, you need a thick skin to advertise here, makes me glad I just buy stuff.

  • +1

Thank you!! :) I missed out on these last time and glad to get a second chance to buy

    • I'll keep posting stuff here when I can and have enough stock of an item to make it worthwhile :-)

  • +1

Awesome. Just bought a micro HDMI adapter. Thanks!

    • My pleasure

  • Hey Brent, I am just wondering how you afford to sell these as cheap as you do?

Isn't postage on these types of items $1.20 via Aus Post?

Then you have eBay and PayPal fees etc?

I was thinking the same thing when looking on eBay for iPhone cables and there is stores selling them for $1.00 delivered.

    Thanks ;)

    • +1

Secrets of the trade….I respect that you want to know etc. but there's no way I am telling :-)

    • +1

I thought the same thing and looked into it

Economy of scale. Australia post offers a discount on bulk orders for packaging (apparently up to 60%) and the items would be purchased direct from china (through something like aliexpress which has similar 3.5mm cords for between $0.30 and $0.50 shipped). The margins would still be quite slim though.

  • Do you have an adapter that would allow me to connect my Mac Book Air (2011 model) to my Dell U2711 IPS panel that runs at 2560x1440? Best I seem to find so far only give me 1080p which is not enough…

    Thanks

    • If it's not on my ebay store then no I don't, I'm not even sure what you would need.

    • Don't quote me but I am fairly sure with a macbook 1080p is the best you are going to get, I think the (mini) display port is the only way of reaching full 1440p but again don't quote me.

    • +13

It's a bargain cause, you know, it's cheaper? Honestly, if you don't have anything constructive to say, just don't even bother posting, really.

If it was a post saying "I found this cheaper elsewhere" well that's one thing, but bitching cause my stuff is cheaper but not cheaper enough? Get the hell outta here.

        • +2

Actually, you will find it's the cheapest australian based product on there for most of the items I sell. Some aren't but with some of them it's just not possible for me to do so, however, you will notice I haven't advertised those here….

    • +4

well he is Australia-based, so you know it'll come much more quickly and almost a guaranteed chance of getting to you. other ebay stores that are so cheap are usually Asia-based, and they take a looong time. What's a few more cents/dollars if you're reassured, and also have an English speaking person you can ask questions if you have troubles, like other OZbargainers have done on this thread?

        • +4

What, precisely, is your problem mate?

        • +11

LOL his problem is in his name. Ignore the haters. They generally suffer from issues in real life.

        • +4

I seriously wish I could ban some people from posting on my threads but I understand that would completely destroy the value of OzBargain

        • +2

Why are you commenting in this thread acrankyoldman?
          Nothing constructive, just whinging.
          Pom?

    • +1

$2-3 is what would cost a bottle of water or a cup of coffee, I consider it a 'change'. The fact that you're whinging over it is unbelievable.

  • +1

Can't the OP post such deals through GumTree [just to avoid those ridiculous ebay-paypal fee]

    • +2

Tried that, not a single buyer….

      • +3

Have you tried posting the GT link over here [Just an idea!]

        • +4

Yeah, I'd still need to have payment processing etc. Most people here prefer paying by Paypal anyway cause it's easier. It's something I have to suck up until I get my website and payment processing set up on my own.

      • Good, stay away from Gumtree.. full of scams. Ebay gives you protection, whereas Gumtree doesn't. It's only good for Face to Face transaction.

  • +6

    @ brentsbits —- RESPECT !!!

  • What HDMI adapter should I choose for Samsung S3 - Type D or Type C?
    They both look similar.

    • Does the S3 even have HDMI out? the connector at the bottom is a micro SD connector, I don't think they are the same thing.

    • +1

Neither, you need an MHL to HDMI adaptor like this:

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/200908805679

  • +2

    Some decent deals in there.

Can't argue for two dollars, lol.

    • +9

yet some still manage to :-)

  • +1

Just bought a DVI/HDMI adapter, headphone splitter, USB A/micro cord, 12V/USB adapter, and microSD/USB adapter. For $10.20 and expected delivery some time next week, that's a +.

  • Purchased. :)

    • Ditto :)

  • Just bought a couple more things I needed. Have bought from Brentsbits before and delivery was quick and quality was good especially for the price paid.

  • Bought 6 items, lets see how good is your stuffs…
Hey, where is the dual USB AC charger? :P

  • Picked up the HDMI adaptors. Very handy to have, and nice price. Thats for the heads up. I didn't even know that I wanted them until I saw them here (Still not sure what I will need them for yet, but I am sure they will come in handy).
