Squat Rack Stand Pair Bench Press Weight Lifting Barbel $103.38 Delivered @ Factory Fast

80

A fair alternative to a full-on power rack and allows you to do many exercises with adjustable safeties. Will be getting these to do some heavier squats and for added safety with my bench press.

Not a super-bargain but if you are in the market for a pair of squat stands it is the cheapest I could find and they seem quite decent. I have no idea of the load rating but I am guessing they take around 200kg based on similar products I've seen.

Certainly safer than using a pair of saw horses!

  • Hopefully not easy to knock over or to spin one slightly, hard to put it down again if they aren't lined up with each other.

    • This is one of my main concerns. Some of the middle/high range models also have a weight plate holder near the base which would also serve to stabilise and ground the stands once you put a substantial amount of weight on them, which should prevent them from toppling over; especially useful when you are trying to unload 100kg+ off your back after an exhausting set of squats!

  • Doesn't seem to be any way to mount it to the ground. That looks incredibly unsafe o.O

    • You could improvise. e.g. Tie a chain with a few large weight plates or kettle balls around the base. Although the weight would have to be evenly distributed. Any ideas or input from people that have used these types of stands before would be very helpful before I purchase.

couple of sandbags perhaps? might be fairly cheap from bunnings or something.

so don't use them as jack stands? :)

My thoughts as well. Been looking for a set for my super jacked up hilux.

Shit… This is an accident waiting to happen without even squatting heavy.

Don't forget kids, the most common way for people to get seriously injured or die from working out is by using flimsy home gym equipment.

If you're really after a home gym I would bite the bullet and spring for an actual squat rack, it's not worth the risk.

    • You can get cheap/low end power racks for around $400 but quality(light commercial) squat racks for the same price. I might go all out on a power rack. It isn't so much the money aspect - it is the size of the thing which is putting me off.

I would highly recommend spending an extra $100 and getting something like this - http://www.fitonline.com.au/p/4301124/BodyWorx-LSR-Squat-rac…

@Wolfie I'm going to throw another (>$200) option into the mix for those who need additional safety/spotting: Shermworks Free Spotter (http://www.shermworks.com/)

I've been using one of these since Xmas and find it incredibly safe, reliable, complete R.O.M and so easy to use. Was a cinch to mount and when I'm not using it I simply raise it up, coil any excess rope and park my car right under it. But the best thing by far is that you don't have to re-rack between sets, simply step out from under it.

I fully researched any concerns before buying and found any objections baseless, and from people that didn't grasp how it worked. After mounting (a breeze) I tested it with 180kg, then added my bodyweight. Didn't even creak.

Not affitliated, but I recommend the hell out of things that I'm passionate about. I train from home 3 times a week, and this gets it done…

  • 200 kg rating,

Ill have to buy two, one for each dumbbell.
