Hey, any idea if that Buffalo 1tb has a 9.5mm thick drive inside it?

Wanted to chuck it in a ps3 if it's not too thick.

    • interested. now that's an idea.

      edit:

so looks like it was discussed in a revious deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/89425
where it was opened and found to be a WD scorpio blue. WD10JPVT.

      digging about finds this: http://community.eu.playstation.com/t5/Technical-Help/The-1T…

which leads to amazon for the same model: http://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-Scorpio-2-5-Inch-Noteb…

9.5mm and used by many for ps3. maybe worth the punt.

    • I believe they are 12.5 mm

      • but the drive in the enclosure is stated as 14mm thick. leaves only 1.5 mm (or 0.75mm for top/bottom of case?)
i dont know how think these enclosures are these days?

        • Hmm…

Well the link you had on the previous deal was for a TU3 model, this one is a TU2.

I believe the 14mm is for the < 1TB disks

The 1TB disks enclosures are 17mm high

        • my bad, didn't notice the usb2/3 difference.
to be fair though, I was basing my assumption off the shopping express specs where it says this drive enclosure is 14mm.

looking at the buffalo site, you are right. the 1tb drive enclosure is 17mm. so unlikely to be a 9.5mm drive.

        • "Weight: 165g (500GB) 210g (1.0TB)"

This implies to me that there are two platters in the 1tb drive, therefore it would be 12.5mm thick. And thus the 14mm dimension is incorrect - 14mm is for 500gb version only.

  • Open box sale means no box?
Is it hard to claim warranty on buffalo drive?

    • Open box means the box/packaging seal has been opened before - products will still send out in the box. The main sources of these products are from change of mind/wrong product returns.

      • So they are seconds stock?

        • Yes, the stock may have been touched/used for a very brief period of time.

All warranty claims are treated similar to brand new sealed in box products.

  • I'm getting a shipping fee in the belkin keyboard case for ipad

    • Try putting your post code, follow by selecting the freight method. If you did not enter any post code/login to your account, the discount will not trigger.
If you already done above, have you check your shopping cart's "discount total"? The shipping fee will be waived (reflected on the "discount total" near your order total).
Let me know if it is not working out for you.

  • Damnit. I've missed the Buffalo 1TB MiniStation twice now. >.<
