D-Link DIR-865L AC1750 Wi-Fi Router. $126.75 Dick Smith

200

Not a bad price for an AC1750 Router from a B&M store. Next closest price is JB Hifi for $249 then $100 cashback.

Most other places are $180+

It comes up under the clearance section of the website, however, there actually seems to be quite a bit of stock for this one!

Now to find an AC1750 adapter :/

$116.75 after entering the code '10online' at checkout.

Price match at JB Hi-Fi? Then claim cash back, effectively making this $26.75. No, it probably won't work, but you never know. :)

I LOL'd. Nice idea though. Might just work!

    • +1

      I'll give it a crack!! :D

Update: NO DEAL! They'd match to $226 then cash back.

      • +1

Update2: store #2 matched!! Noticed that #1 had the $100 cash back stickers on the box, #2 didn't! Woot!!

        • +1

Agreed you will need to try around as they will knock back this price match most times.

    • OMG, I was passing by a JB Hi-Fi store today and decided to try my luck. Managed to get a price match done on my first attempt — I'm guessing the sales assistant didn't know about the cash back offer, since there weren't any stickers on the box. Excellent deal, even better than the $29.70 DIR-825 from Flingshot a few weeks ago. :P

Definitely worth trying if anyone's still on the fence about this.

      • No go at Macarthur NSW. Salesperson walks around with a device, checks price, and told me to go to DS.

  • I had to look up AC1750.
    It led me here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IEEE_802.11ac

    Praise be.
    Man, I feel out-of-date already!

Waiting till it becomes mainstream so its cheaper. Also 3x3 802.11ac mini PCI-E cards for laptops/tablets are not available yet, only usb adaptors atm afaik.

      • Good thinking.

  • Not ADSL router?

    • No, wireless Router only. Can sit behind either ADSL modem or Cable modem or another modem/router (to extend wireless range).

  • thanks ordered …

  • I bought two recently from Flingshot, for $180 each delivered, with $50 cash back, so effectively $130 delivered. This is a good deal, but avoid buying online from Dick Smith. They use Star Track Express, which is the world's worst courier (Google star track complaints if you don't believe me). I had to pick up my last Dick Smith online item from the post office after watching the courier race out from his van, put an "unable to deliver" note in my letterbox, and drive away before I could stop him.

    • Star track were the worlds smartest delivery system
Now when service matters choose star track
Isn't the opposite the truth in advertising

      • At least they aren't as bad as 'Couriers Please'. They don't even leave a consignment note!

tsk tsk, horrible times chasing up delivery!

Successfully Price match with JB Hifi for $126.75.. So after cash back it should cost only $26.75… Thanks OP..

Note : JB Hifi will only match price before promo I.e $126.75 but anyone can try their luck…

Not bad for $26.75 AC Router…

    • Mind telling me which jb is it?

got mine today from Jb hifi too
they said ok, then they got suspicious and the sales guy went at the back to call dick smith, he came back and told me it was for $170 and that online price is different than store price. So i called dick smith in front of him and they said it was $126.70, so i got two. But he was spewing.

I just hate that fact that he wasn't honest and tried to sell it to me for $170, but being a Professional i got two for $26.70 after cashback

Only 1 cash back per household. So you'll have to have one sent somewhere else.

Price matched at JB Hifi Mildura…

Show him DSE's click & collect email with #116.75 .. He didn't trust that email and check DSE website on his laptop. After 10 minute discussion with Manager he came back & told me that he can do with price listed on website not one with "10online" coupon code.

Price must be below their cost as manager have to log her self on to system to discount price that heavily…

  • got mine today at JB Adelaide city, they did a thorough check before they agreed on the price match, the guy didn't believe it was that cheap.

    Price matched JB Liverpool.

Salesman: I need to confirm the price.
    Visits DS website, checks price.
I need to check with my boss.
Walks away, returns after 1 minute.
Boss wants me to check DS has stock.
    Checks stock on website.

Okay, we'll match DS. Please come with me to the counter.
    We walk to the counter.

Salesman to counter staff: Price match DS for $126.75.
CS to Salesman: How much?!?! I thought we are not price matching DS advertised specials.
S: This isn't in the catalogue.
CS: You can't keep offering price matches for DS. They never have stock, that's why they can put the price so low.
S: I got the okay from Craig (supervisor, I guess).
CS: You guys cannot keep doing this. We agreed no more price matches.

Salesman walks away. I didn't want to push my luck and so paid with my credit card (extra year warranty) instead of 2x ING Paywave (save $6.33).

One more day before the cashback expires. Get on with it and try your luck!

  • Had anyone successfully got the cashback? I am scared that Dlink wont honour the cashback, for whatever reasons they can think of.

    • +1

I have previously successfully claimed cashback on an OW price-matched DIR-825.

  • Thanks OP and electronictomato, Got mine from Pitt Street, Sydney Store. Salesman was happy to price match for $126. Will be applying for Cashback today.

  • Question for the successful price matchers: Does your JB receipt say the following, in particular the "PROMOTION" part?

    *D-LINK - DIR865L AC1750 ROUTER
    89582 $126.75
    PROMOTION
    Comments: DICK SMITH PRICE MATCH-
    CRAIG OK

    • Mine says

      *D-LINK - DIR865L AC1750 ROUTER
      89582 $126.75
      PROMOTION

    • Rest assured that I have just spoken to the manager at JB HIFI (elizabeth store in Melbourne CBD, did not ask for the name but took a picture of him) and he said that the "promotion" part will not void the cash back

      • +1

you took a pic of the manager ? lol
did u ask for permission ? dont people get sued for that ?

        • I was walking out of the door too quickly, then realised that I need to know how to identify him in the future. So, thinking that just going back for the name was so awkward, I quickly took a pic LOL. Wow, really? Got sued for the pic? I will not going to let anyone see the pic. Hope it helps :(

        • yep, im pretty sure you need to take the persons permission before you take pics.
In the health service, you can get sued or even loose your job for taking pics without permission.

        • +1

Only in non-public places. Then you only need permission if you plan on using them for broadcast/displaying to others..

Sounds creepy when I phrase it like that!

  • JB's website used to say the offer is valid if you buy the router 'BY' May 1, but the form says to buy 'BETWEEN' April 18 and May 1.

Does anyone know which one is correct and if I can still get cashback if I bought today?

    • May 1st , meaning end of business day on May 1st so yes it will be eligible for cashback

  • Just give you guys a heads up that price has further been reduced to $84.5, although you can no longer claim a cashback with price match with JB since that promotion ended on 1 May

  • cashback has now been re-opened for all interested http://www.dlink.com.au/productregistration/redemption.aspx?…
thanks for the new deal posted not long ago http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/102502
