Hopefully this isn't a dupe, and yes, similar deal to this http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/99299

As expected after the SGS4 release, SGS3 4G are dropping in price. It was $408 delivered yesterday.

First time I've seen in under $400 for 4G version.

  • It's so cheap. Will wait for lower price, however.

    • +1

I doubt it'll get that much cheaper than this… considering the GSII is priced at $299

    • It has been this price for a while now (week or so). I'm also hopeful that the price will drop soon as the S4 begins to drop….

    • +1

      Thanks for letting us know

      /facepalm

  • Got one on the last deal mentioned for $428. Got it in under a week. Only issue was the startup language in Chinese, but easily fixed by my good friend Mr Google.

    • +5

      We have a mutual friend.

Mr.Bing on the other hand is dodgy.

  • So cheap 0_o
    If I didn't have a 3G version already i'd snap this up.

  • I saw it this morning, but thought it would be a duplicate :)

  • I broke my i9300t… Im so tempted to grab one!
Only if this was up 2 weeks ago… Sigh. I got an iphone on a contract -_-

    • -1

did you sign up with voda? take advantage of their "Network Guarantee"

      • Luckily im smart enough to go with Virgin. I would never be with Vodafail. But i guess that sorta backfired on me? LOL im good with my iphone. I just dont like wasting a good phone. Only if i can ask a friend in Korea to get s3 fixed for me… $110 to fix. But i dont wanna bother anyone. And postage will be $40 back and forth. $240 here or $150 in korea hmmm

          Beating a dead horse again..
I would go with Vodafone over Optus or other carriers that are using Optus' network any day.
I have nothing but drama with Optus starting with drop outs and super slow data speed. They told me a new tower will be build in 3 months which never happened and tried to offered me discount on my bill. I had enough and moved my number to Vodafone.

I understand some people might have bad experiences in the past but I have no problem at all with Vodafone and their 3.5G speed is really good.

    • People still go on contracts? Ball and chain sucks more than ever, with weak phones & crap signals/speeds. Apart from nothing upfront, I don't see the jail term being remotely worth it.

Bah! This or should I wait till the Xperia Z drops to $500 and pay $100 more for that?

    Thoughts guys?

    • The Xperia Z is definitely a lot more fluid, and a very snappy device (in my opinion). I prefer it, however at this price… I'd get the GS3 4G. You may have to wait for a bit until the Xperia Z comes down to $500 delivered.

Also in terms of accessories and stuff, the GS3 has a LOT more choice because it's been out for so long, and it's such a popular device (this would be a big factor for me personally).

    • People still buy Xperia(s)?

      • Xperia Z is awsome. I dont like any other Xperia

        • +1

I would love the Xperia Z- but it's squareness really bulges out. Also, it's battery is quite low for its price bracket (it's even worse than the SIII).

      • +2

After have the Xperia S, I can no longer go with Sony. Worst experience ever. The damn thing STILL doesn't have Jellybean.

        • +1

I'm with u there. I have a Xperia sola and the constant and ridiculous lag have unfortunately put me off owning another Sony phone for a very long time :(

    • Thanks for the replies so far, the thing that annoys me is how you can't take the battery out easily and replace it if it deteriorates over time. Another thing, the samsungs have AMOLED, whereas the Xperia Z doesn't (although it has a higher pixel density).

I haven't compared both side by side, but which one is more visually appealing?

    • The Xperia Z for sure.

  • anyone bought from kogan a phone and its simcard? it says "free 100mins 100mb data etc".
if free why not everyone add this to cart? will it attracts extra shipping?
    any catches?

    • +2

Because people already have their number with another telco. Unless you are thinking of switching to kogan it isnt worth it. Besides you wont get 4G with Kogan

      • oh forgot about kogan not 4G.
        useless then.thx

    • +1

The sim is free but you still have to pay $4.99 for the delivery though. Plus it takes aaaaages to get the sim pack. The reception is pretty good compared to optus as it's Telstra network.

  • Whats the difference between 4G and 3G?

    • +1

4G version has 2GB ram, 3G version only got 1GB Ram

      • Is that it?

        • 3G won't achieve 4G speeds :-P

        • What kind of speeds are we talking about? Internet speed?

    • Also different CPU
      Exynos for 3G
      Qualcomm for 4G

      • kazines, I think you're confused. Perhaps you're thinking of the GS4?

Both models of the GS3 have a Exynos 4412 chipset & Cortex A9 CPU.

        • interesting… i might have been mistaken
when it was released in Korea as LTE model
that exynos did not support LTE and people said it uses Snapdragon…

          I'll look into it

I got that mixed up with this
cuz Korean LTE version is the same as AT&T model
          http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s_iii_i747-4803.php

        • +1

Yep, Korean models are always different from International versions. ;)

    • +1

Provided your network provider is capable, your sim card data speed is much faster on 4G.

    • +1

3G also has FM radio, while 4G does not.

  • note II 4g or s3 4g?

    • +4

Note 2 for the battery life

      • +1

has an epic battery life but you'll look stupid. I had one and sold it! wouldn't fit in my jeans!

        • had a note 1 beforehand, didnt mind the size. however if i can get a s3 for ~$350 thats $150 difference im saving.

        • if you're a girl, you've got a purse…

I still don't understand why guys keep saying they can't fit it in jeans
when I could fit it in skinny jeans….

          just saying

        • +1

you might have a small package which would result in more room in your pants
thus having the ability to fit the Note in your pocket

        • back pocket fits easy

        • Best way to damage your phone.

        • Wouldn't fit in my Levi 541….top would slightly stick out and i'd have to remove it when i sat. Also wouldn't fit in the small compartment in the center console in my car so it had to go. Good phone but not good for me :)

  • what about the 32gig? is this one upgradable?

    • it supports an external microSD slot…

      • YEAYURRRR!

  • +1

Note that this ships in 2-3 weeks, so don't get it for Mother's Day or anything urgent…

  • +1

As stated before, it generally take 7 days.

  • I ordered mine Friday 19/4 and received Mon 29/4, 10 days, for $418 shipped. Was gonna wait until it dropped more but glad I didn't. It will take another 12 months to get down to current S2 prices.

Was set to French (Bouygues Telecom). Massive improvement for me coming from HTC Desire. Battery life was ordinary to start with so I've put in a 3250mah KINPS brand off Ebay last night, hopefully that improves it.

    • rokoz, can you send me a DM and let me know how that new battery goes?
      Cheers!

  • +4

rep, a deal on Note 2 LTE would be great…

    • would bite even if it just had free shipping

  • is this or the HTC One 4G better?

  • +1, a Note 2 4G deal would be awesome!

  • +3

Yerhp im also waiting for a Note 2 :)

  • kogan note 2 4g dropped down to $508 inc shipping, with the 3g version around $498.
wonder if kogan can match the unique price of the 4g under 500 :)

  • Ordered one… Wondering if i can get the delivery next week !!

  • Man… my s3 just got water damage and trying to 'fix' it…. hope the s3 price will go down down

  • Ordered one. Can anyone recommend a good extended battery pack?

  • Still available…
Grabbed one for my wife..Not a bad mothers day present from our daughter ;)
