Hijacking top comment to help newbs:

      • This is good value for the price. Particularly impressed by the brand name PSU & case (these are usually skimped on)
      • This is a good gaming machine… IF you add a good GPU (video card) to it (I like the $180 HD 7850).
      • If you just want a general computer, for web or homework or something, it's probably overpowered. A $300 desktop (or $450 laptop) will be plenty fast. (Unless you're the mother of a kid who loves games, in which case I just heard kids need HD 7850s to do their, um, maths homework, these days…)
  • +5

Umart totals $570.00. (Slightly cheaper at MSY)

So this appears to be worth it if you don't build your own computers, but if you can then not worth it.

    • +18

Yeah, you could save a whole dollar. I no longer enjoy building computers, i find it boring. If someone builds it for a dollar and checks to make sure all components are in working order that sounds good to me.

      • Depends on how they do cable management.

        • +6

It's alot easier to manage cables once they are all hooked up.

        • Problem with building your own is if something doesn't work, then it's a drag to pull it apart and take it back. If they build it, you take the whole thing back and say "fix it". Often these cheap places use dodgy parts too, so I make sure they build it and take responsibility for the whole thing.

    • +15

So let's say 1 hour for DIY. Value your time at $1 per hour?

      • +3

If you could unbox all the components, put them together and confirm everything is working in an hour - I would be very impressed. Good deal if this is the system for you.

        • -3

technically you can, nowadays everything's been standardised and labelled nicely for you

and turning on with no beeps and reaching bios screen is good enough indication of "working as intended"

        • +2

1 hour is plenty of time to chuck together a basic system if you have built plenty of computers in the past.

This is a great deal for the price at any rate :)

        • +1

Yes, "chuck together" may take 1 hour, but doing things right and carefully will take longer.

        • Yeah especially if you want to test it, screwing, cable management.

    • +20

Why do you have to hate on a good deal? I hate people that always have something negative about a deal to contribute, like oh that processor isn't fast enough or you don't really need an SSD or other such talk. Why not just recognise it as a good return on investment that is cheaper than the usual price..? I can understand if there is some fundamental flaw that the normal person wouldn't recognise that has yet to be pointed out like if this build relied on a 300W no name PSU but other than that why?

      • +23

        Hate? Did I negative vote?

I totaled up the parts at another shop so everyone could see the value and they didn't have to go to the effort of doing it.

A lot of people would prefer to put their own computer together because computer shops often don't do a very good job.

        Yet I'm negative voted?

I have no idea what is wrong with you guys.

        • +7

I think finding out the cost of the individual parts is incredibly relevant. The reason I build my own PCs is not just because I want to save some money, but mostly because pre-built PCs rarely cater for my needs. In this case - no GPU, and relatively small drives.

Showing the cost of the original parts for this PC says its a great deal for the average person who is looking for these specs (or very close), but if you are capable of putting your own together (and this is something I encourage everyone to learn) then you can custom build your own for something better suited to your needs.

        • -1

What aspect do they usually not do a good job of?

        • +2

Or you could just upgrade as required from the choices given…

  • +4

thanks for saving me the time too check. :)

    • +30

Time you can spend learning the difference between too and to.

      • +6

        Bazinga.

  • Hi budgetpc, how many more spare HDD bays is available? Thanks.

  • +2

Seriously, where are you getting your parts from that you can do this so cheap?
Or are you just doing free labour?

    • +10

Probably got a new work experience kid and needed something for him to do :P

      • +5

…the hardware store was probably all out of left-handed hammers & striped paint! ;)

        • +8

My old man took me to his work for the afternoon when I was 9; at one point they had me halfway to the front gate on my way to get sparks for the grinder before they let me in on the joke. After finishing school I worked there until I was 25, and don't think I wasn't gleefully reminded of that occasion at least once a week.

        • +3

Yep. And when my dad worked his first day for the Housing Department, they sent him to the hardware store to buy a blue skyhook. lol

    • Its often either;

Cheap labour (looks like $10-15 worth of labour)
      Old stock
Price reduction from supplier, small shops can often sell at these lower prices faster then bigger places.

  • +1

Hmmm intel HD 2500? you might want to change that.

  • +1

Does it have any HDMI ports? (was also asked on the deal page)

  • +6

    569 beans, carrots or buttons?

    • +1

569 partridges in a pear tree

        Don't be silly kabigon.

        • +3

          I like being silly though..

      Dollar sign in title please

    • +10

Congratulations, stupidest neg of the week.

      • -5

Its a Desktop with the dedicated GPU missing why have an SSD and 8GB of RAM if you're not going to put them to work?

        • +9

          asi;hodfgak;fdghafg

That is all I can say to you.

Actually, I will go the extra mile and expound upon my keysmash

SSD + 8GB OF RAM =/= GAMING COMPUTER.

          Da?

    • +2
        • +2

          Gotcha, buddy :)

        • +4

          just gave ya 1 :P

        • +11

Must word requests better in future, lol.

        • Do you still need more negs?

        • -4

          Yes please, NOM NoM nOm!

    • +2

      I assume

      you assumed wrong then

    • +2

How could I forget - the colour and shape of your computer case directly reflects its capabilities and use! I should have never gotten rid of my red case - it was way quicker than my black one!

      • -6

Its like buying a ferrari body and puting a motorbike engine in it .

        Simple

    • +2

This comment doesn't deserve so much neg. Yes, it's silly to judge a PC by the case, and integrated graphics can actually play games these days, if at lower settings.

But I think I can see seanludo's point: the niche for decent-performance machines like this without a GPU is small. Grandma would be much better off with a $300 machine.

This is basically a choose-your-own-GPU-later gaming rig, I guess (and maybe photoshop machine, or something?).

      • +1

So why didn't seanludo say that instead of what appears to be a poorly written critic? You managed it well enough.

Plus, what is wrong with a pick your own GPU PC? The CPU is fine for current games, so it is a case of buy a GPU specific to your budget, or use this PC without one until you can afford one, or use it without one for whatever reason.

    • +7

In order to appease this angry god of Ozbargain, I have sacrificed the 'gaming' tag from this deal and added a dollar sign as a bonus.

Everyone is now happy and peace once again returns to Ozbargain.

      • +3

Thank goodness for that. The universe nearly flipped its shit and turned in on itself.

        • +3

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together… mass hysteria!

        • +4

Appropriate reference considering how this guy keeps making a fool of himself over and over and over again.

Okay, campers - rise and shine, and don't forget your booties 'cause it's cold out there today!

EDIT: And I'm a complete dick in quoting Bill Murray from the wrong movie. Can't win every time haha.

        • +2

Don't worry dude, Punxsutawney Phil will forgive you! ;)

        • +2

          That's a big twinkie.

    • +4

Yes. Point me to where you could buy a Ferrari body for a comparable price to a motorbike?

If this was a THOUSAND DOLLAR CASE then you could safely assume that this is probably not a computer for grandpa. But it is not.

Stop speaking, man - it's getting (more) embarrassing.

      • +1

Lol ok but if you wanted a budget computer you could get something better than this .

        • Actually that's a good point. This is a good performance PC for everyone except gamers.

It just so happens that 99% of people who really want speed want it for games.

        • +3

It's also a good gaming PC if you chuck $200 at it to get a nice GPU. It would then play the latest games with ease, and be much cheaper than most "gaming" computers.

    • +3

How is a $50 dollar budget USB3 case a Ferrari body? It's a case that allows for further cooling, GPU and HDD upgrades down the road.

        • +10
        • +6

I gotta stop wasting my negs so early in the day…

        • +5

I used all mine on him…

        • +3

I think he used all of his on me, lol.

        • +1

I'm actually looking at a decent base to build on so don't mind if it missing the GPU and Windows.

      • +1

        I'd say a Chery J3 rather than a Ferrari. ;)

  • +1

Good deal. So many people wouldn't even see a bargain even if it smacked them in the head.

    • +13

You are actually a goddamned idiot.

  • Someone pls comment on this as a gaming rig if I add my own gfx card.

Looks perfect for me I think.

    • +1

Yes. Good for gaming, as long as you buy a decent GPU (which are pretty cheap these days).

Particularly impressed by the brand name case and PSU, these are often skimped on. But the CPU, mobo, and SSD all look good too.

      • Cheers. My plan is to wait for a deal on a GPU. Wouldn't mind forfeiting the HDD for a larger SDD.

        • +5

If you are gaming then you are not going to want to forfeit the single HDD for a larger SSD. SSDs are way too expensive to be used as the solitary storage medium in a computer that is going to have plenty of games installed (plus apps, movies, TV shows, music etc etc). I have a 128GB SSD and 2x3TB HDDs and this works for me. I have Windows and a few apps installed on my SSD (Photoshop etc) and then use SteamMover to move games across to my SSD when I'm playing them. Means I don't need a huge, expensive SSD.

The upgrade to a 2TB HDD ($29) and 120GB SSD ($65) from these guys is a good choice. If you add a decent GPU later (as their upgrade options aren't awesome) you will, depending on your choice of GPU, have a very decent gaming rig.

        • Oh yeah I understand that. I will install a separate HDD, but I have some lying around. Also have a NAS for other data.
BTW - thanks for mentioning Steam Mover - this sounds perfect!

  • +2

Don't know why people seem to be hating so much, this system is extremely cheap. The equivalent Parts at PCCG come in at $599 i think, then you would have to add $100 for it to be built. If i were selling it I would have chosen a few different parts such as a diffent case (Gaming case in non gaming pc is just stupid and looks horrible) and included atleast a low end GPU, but it is still cheap.

edit: Relised it did say it was a gaming pc. LOL what are you supposed to be able to play on that? Solitare?

    • +2

It was only a tag to be fair. The fuss above was caused by the neg and the manner in which it was given.

  • +1

I guess its alright… If you replace the graphics card.

    • also rep can you post the shipping costs?

  • Budget or not, specks are good enough for any game, why hate this fine price of unit for a very low price?

    • +2

specks are good enough for any game

Only if you buy a GPU for it.

      • nah integrated gpus are getting close to dedicated. You probably could play most games on low settings fine

        • +2

If we were talking about the HD4000 you'd be dead right, but unfortunately the HD2500 is significantly less potent than it's big brother.

Therefore, adding the CPU upgrade to 3570K for $49 would be money well spent IMHO if you wanted to do some basic gaming on this rig! ;)

  • +1

Whats the best graphics card to go with this anyone?

    • +6

      Radeon HD7870

      • +3

seconded for 7870 (not the best GPU, but definitely contender for best value)

also great price, would prefer slightly beefier components but as it stands this almost matches the $950 PC I had custom built.

        • How many GB does it come with?

        • 2GB

      • I have had GeForce GTX 670 GC 2 GB. Will it compatible with this system?

Got this GPU from OZbargain deal a while ago but haven't got time to buy & build the rest. It's for playing the Witcher 2.
