  • Hey, looks great!

I'm not too nuanced with the difference between men's and women's bags in some cases… does someone mind checking out:

    http://www.oroton.com/outlet/chrysler-satchel/w1/i1395065_10…

and letting me know what they think, and is it ok for mens?

    Thanks

    • +1

      It is a mens bag.

    • mens for sure

    • fine for men

      • definitely not for women.

        • men is for women

        • some women are for women

        • women are women for some

    • +5

      It's a European.

    • +2

If you have to ask, what are less 'nuanced' going to think if they see you carrying it?

    • +2

      Its a murse

      • It's a satchel.

        • whatever it takes for you to sleep at night broseph

    • -2

I just bought one for myself, a full size satchel, definitely looks good on men. I think Oroton has a very quality control, they use real leather and they are Aussie!

      • It's all made in China. The styles are nice though, best option here in Australia if you can't justify high end designer leathergoods At clearance prices it's good value, at full RRP definitely not.

      • Oroton, Aussie!… ha… ha….. ha, ha ha !

    • Don't go black… brown looks better.

  • Great find thank you! Got free shipping for orders over $200.

  • I ordered 300 dollars worth of stuff and still got charged for shipping!

  • +4

Those bags are not cheap, even with the discount. What's so special about them?

    • good price for brand leather

    • +3

Obviously Kmart is where you should shop for your bags/wallets. :)

  • +14

Do they have such ridiculous prices just so that they can justify these Sales of 70%?

  • +1

Perfect timing, me old man's birthday is coming up next week and he really wanted a new wallet!

    • +1

I once met a man when I was in customer service trying to get his credit card out. He was REALLY angry the card didn't come out and swore at his kids for spending so much on a wallet just for the sake of a gift and wished he'd just gotten cash instead (the kids weren't present). He told me the $10 wallet he'd gotten was better than "this brand name crap".

Haha, it was funny. I am sure your Dad will appreciate it though.

  • +2

Always nice so that I can pick up something and put it away for the wifey at a later date.

  • This isn't 'store wide', it's only for the outlet section :( I posted about this outlet sale a week ago in the comments section of another Oroton post (didn't like the outlet stock enough to make a new post). When I saw this title I thought I could grab some non-outlet items as they look a lot better without the loud monogram.

  • Where are they made? China? Italy?

    • +2

      China

      • +3

I'm not paying a premium on China made wallet :)

        • +15

I paid a premium on a china made ipad

        • +16

not all germans are nazis, not all aboriginals sniff paint, not all japanese stuff is high tech, not all meals in america come in super large, not all mexicans are trying to cross the usa boarder, not all australians are dumb drunk and racist, and not all things made in china are crap

        • +2

I was waiting for the punch line, then I realised you were serious

        • This is premium? You made my day.

        • .

        • bbbyboy, WTF!, chill!, breathe in, release… breathe in… release… Now, it is 'border' not 'boarder', similar but as you point out extensively not the same. YOu forgot one, not all Jews are Jewish! :)

  • +4

okay just spent $60 on a wallet i didnt need. thanks.

    • +10

Now you have nothing to put in it.

  • +5

The quality of these bags are pretty bag. The threading will start disintegrating around the 12 month mark. I've bought 2 of these (different models) and it's been the issue with both.

Oroton's service when dealing with the 'warranty' with regards to this isn't great either!

    • +5

I think that's the price Oroton pays when manufacturing in China. At full-price you can find Armani (Made in Italy) for around the same price range.

    • +1

my first oroton wallet lasted me over 10 years and still no problems with it. my current oroton wallet is 2 years old and no problems either

  • +3

They look to have nasty stitching to me, I am dubious as to the quality, I want one just not sure about quality regardless of brand

  • +3

Really struggling to find any bargains here… this should be negged for its grossly overpriced RRP.

So unlike ozbargain to give this 30+ votes :S

    • +3

People choose their areas of stinginess and extravagance, I guess.

I am a true-blue Ozbargainer — shop at Target for their x.83 sales (yes, x for single digit bargains). But I find that for bags/shoes, you really do get what you pay for. I've had Target bags that cost me $15 on sale which lasted about 3 weeks (major sale fail I'd never do again!). They are absolutely nowhere near the quality of my other bags. I'd happily pay for a 70% off bag that costs several hundreds if I find them really good.

That said, I much prefer outnet and net-a-porter sales to the Oroton.

  • Awesome, Thank You

  • +1

I hope you realise oroton is made in china so don't expect any thing great in terms of quality. If you compare this to upmarket bands like Gucci, Bvlgari etc you will know what I mean, but then again you won't get those brands at these prices.

    • +1

Made in China doesn't mean low quality. Two of my designer bags are made in China: Reed Krakoff and Michael Kors, very well made with beautiful leather and great hardware, much better than the Italian made Marni bag or a U.S. made designer bag which was so poorly made that I had to post it back to U.K. even with the 85% discount. Those bag do come with much higher price tags but I was lucky to get them from sales with discounts of 50% and 85%. To me they're much better buys than the oroton sale as oroton bags don't really last and the customer service cannot compare with other designer boutiques.

    • Where's Gucci, Bvlgari and etc made?, are you referring to where the 'made in' labels are made or state.
You have so much to learn about todays world my naive fellow ozbargainer.

  • Hard to find things made in Italy, Gucci, LV, all china brand ripp offs.

  • I think they have done it 70% in the past. It must be worked very well for them (AND US too).. :)

  • -1

We are lucky to buy leather thing at those low price, nothing to complain,

I think the quality is good

    • Are you one of the factory workers

      • -1

If you keep thinking that way you cannot live a modern live at reasonable cost.

you cannot buy iPhone,iPad and most consumer electronic products…

        • Reasonable cost was obscured when low labour cost countries like China, Thailand , Vietnam etc entered the market. I don't like your argument that we cannot live a modern life unless we import cheap goods from these countries.

        • +1

I too think the only reason Westerners have such a good quality of life is because they exploit low paid workers in Third World Countries. If there was no such thing as cheaply made in China, if all we had to purchase was Made in Australia/USA/Western Europe, everything would be much more expensive. If you want an Australian to do anything for you (fix a leaking tap, remove a dent from a car, shorten the cuff on a suit jacket, repair a broken refrigerator, collect your trash, install a new phone line, etc), be prepared to pay through the nose. In Indian or China, a worker would do the same job for perhaps 20% of the cost. And when I purchase China made items from an Australian, I usually pay much more for than than an American pays for the same China manufactured items. I know that we have a 10% GST and 5.5% Duty on imports, but that doesn't explain why many items costs 100% more in AU compared to Ameritopia.

The only way to come close to competing with China would be to automate everything as much as is possible. Less workers to pay that way. However, this would lead to higher unemployment and an even greater concentration of wealth in the hands of capitalists.

    • So many people here are dreaming about buying Gucci/Louis Vuitton quality items at the price they will pay in Myer. Oroton is not fantastic but it is reasonably good. I won't buy it at its RRP unless there is something I really like. But for 70% off, what else can you ask for? Guys, go to Myer and pick any wallets around $50 and compare the quality.

  • Don't need a man bag, but a bargain nonetheless.

  • Any women's bags with storage compartments? (going buy one as present for my mother)

  • +8

Being a Chinese migrant, I can tell you Oroton is reasonably good quality at this discounted price. Don't be fooled by Made in Italy or Made in France or England on those designer brands (like LV, Gucci, Prada…etc… not Hermes though). Most these designer brands are made in China. They are normally shipped to Italy or France without buttons and zips, but with everything else ready. According to laws in these European countries, as long as some final steps are completed in Italy or France, they can be marketed as Made in France or Italy or England. Sad store, but ture….

For a $500 Coach bag, Chinese OEM factory takes $5 …

These news are all over the place in China, but people still buy them, simply they want others to notice that they are rich and "different"…

    • for $5, I mean profit. shipping price (to europe factory) around $25. cost (including shipping) is like $20

  • trying to find the baby bags but can't seem to see any. which one did you buy OP?

    • They have a black and brown version on clearance called satchel baby bag but I can't see it online. Bar code is 9313563742869. I bought mine at the outlet in Moorabbin, vic.

  • Want something made in France, Italy etc, expect $1000+

Just called a few stores minutes ago, and it seems that the discounts only apply at dfo and some other discounted stores, as for the rest full price. Sucks coz in in sydney cbd, and there's a few stores, now I'm forced to drive.

  • +2

These prices are retarded, you can get high quality, hand made bags out of full grain leather for a fraction of what they are charging. This is just brand name scalping. These guys are not even using full grain leather…notice they said "pebble grain leather"? It's probably just regular commercial grade leather (otherwise they would have gone to great pains to advertise the exact grade).

    • +2

Please let us know where we can get mens over the shoulder satchel bags in full leather of reasonable quality for between $100 and $150. I have carried one of these for the last 10 years and never paid less than $250-450 for one. Not bagging your opinion but I'd like to know where you shop so I can join you.

    • i'd be interested to know too. high quality leather generally does not come in generic non-branded items - it's not economically sound, and anything with a brand you will be paying a premium with

  • Yeah, the quality's pretty bad for those bags. Here's the stitching on mine about 10 months after purchase:

    • So it is still under warranty? Have found out if they are willing to replace it? Let us know the outcome please.

      • It was apparently 3 days out of 'warranty' and the 'manager' at the store refused to honor it. I'm really not happy with their levels of service.

        • Sounds like he hasnt been informed of the new rules.

          Maybe search on acceptable quality

  • Made in China, No Thanks Jeff!
