Ouch. Even a 7 inch tablet has higher res than this…

Text won't look pretty on this but I'm sure games will run quite smooth on the RK3066… if that is what it runs.

    • +3

Why? My old netbook has an 11" screen and only does 1024x600 and text looks fine.

      • +1

Same res as the touchpad, text is fine. Text was fine in ASCII 40 back in the DOS days.

  • Why annoyed with DX?

    • +2

      TLDR
500 (possibly more) people ordered phones, tablets, gadgets etc. from DX during their 50% off sale
3 days later, order status changed from processing to cancelled (customers did not receive any apology emails)
Not a single soul who purchased on OZbargain had their orders fulfilled.
Fingers crossed they even return our money back.

      • +1

Darn, I ordered the phone and two tablets too!
Didn't get a cancellation email, but logged on DX and saw that my order got cancelled.
Guess I have to file some palpay disputes :(

        • DX is not taking my money again!!

      • So sad I didn't get any of those deal - till I read this that is…
        Feeling marginally better.

        • I guess you wanted to get negs.

      • Well bugger! I ordered a tablet and a phone for myself too and this here is now the first time I hear there would be any trouble with that order. And logging in to my DX account sure does show that my order was cancelled too! Never had any trouble with them before, but this sort of "sale" really doesn't improve their stock in my eyes.

      • Mine says payment confirmed. Does that mean it's not cancelled?

    • What is DX?

  • +1

Please have a try of this tablet before buying it. The resolution and screen is a definite turn off.

  • Paizuri, ur username is the lols

    • Well, that made me google it :-) Thanks!

    • Same. Always learning on this site.

        Me three! :-)

    • There's always some sort of friction around here :)

      • O^O

1024x768 didn't stop the original iPad from selling vast amounts.
Sure, more is better, but it does the job.
Personally I'd prefer a 7" at this res.

    • i would want any tab with this res.

      at 7" 1,280 x 800 is what i'd expect as a minimum

      • This tablet:
        1024 x 768 @ 7" = 183 ppi

        Whips my tele:
        1920 x 1080 @ 51" = 43 ppi

        welcome5 didn't work for me.
Still cheap and I don't have a tablet so done deal. Thanks OP!

        • Bugger. Just advised my store is out of stock and it's in back-order.
          And they have the payment!

Oh well at least it's CC and not PP with DX.
          IMO.

DX has been pretty dodgy lately with sales deal, it firstly creates a hype around its sale event by giving you ridiculous price discount, which it hardly ever intend (or have the capacity) to fulfill. It takes them several days to tell you that the product is out of stock, as such they cancel the transaction.

They have done this several times already in the past.

    • or they just forget to tell you completely… Good lurk when you have millions of orders comming in.
I have noticed that DX are not as good as they were years ago and now refuse to deal with them.

Meritline is about the best for this kind of junk.

  • My guess is the scammers are putting the money in the short term money market, reaping the interest, then refunding the original money ….free use of your money during the 45 day or longer Paypal process

  • Aaarrrgggg dx dx dx… :(

Looks like my target is still a 16gb wifi note 10.1 - extremely expensive @ $500 compared to the PD80HD I had ordered off dx. Ah well, time to start saving up again…

    • Your in luck, Samsung Galaxy note 16 GB is on sale @ Harvey Norman for $446 at the moment.

      • Thanks for that! I'll try to get OW to match it!

        • Hmm says out of stock on the ow website… You :/

I got the Amicroe 7" Touchtab II from HN not too long ago and it's the spaziest thing ever. Refuses to start off battery and only start up off the main power adapter or USB and yet claims that the battery is 100% charged. And this Touchtab IV has an even worser resolution so it mustn't be any better.

    • Sounds like a legit fault - assuming "not long ago" is less than 1 year, make a warranty claim.

  • Does 7" have HDMI support?

  • Cheap and nasty?

  • so far so good. only bought it for internet surfing, light games + movies for the kids and facebook for the better half.

    does all those faultlessly.

my router thing has a possible fault wps button. had to log in to it through the ip address. soft pressed WPS and tablet connected to wifi immediately :)

find another 9.7"/10" with 1 gig ram, dual core at this price. (undoubtable they will be there) - at least if it does die within a year I drive 5 minutes to HN and show them the warranty.

though for an extra $35 you can get this hyundai X900 -http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/101518

or $60 more for the cube U9GT5

  • Purchased one of these for my mother who is "enjoying" a long stay in hospital. We've linked it up to a 4G wireless modem and so far it's performed very well. The screen isn't as good as my daughters Asus Prime but it's perfectly adequate for ABC Iview and general usage.
I would say good value for money.
