  • Just curious…. are kmart's tefal different from normal tefal, e.g. cheaper lower range specially made for kmart?

    • Tefal has a bunch of different ranges.

These are not specific to kmart, and are in Target and were in Big W.

    • These are made in France.
      The 32 cm is $30
and the small one is $15
      Everything else is in between
I just bought the full range for $105 inc the wok
My last Tefal from Kmart lasted about 2.5 years till I burnt it by runnnig it too hot/frying without oil.
I'm in SA and grabbed this last Thurs so it's nation wide and nearly over….

I bought one of these a year or so ago.

Pretty damn good pan, has some light scratches now (asshole housemate used a fork).

In truth, for things like steak and eggs you will still need some oil/butter, but I frequently cook meat/curry in it and for the $29? dollars I paid, it has been well worth it.

Make sure you buy the hard anodized one as in the picture, the other variety are similarly priced and shitty.

    • You'll be surprised to know a lot of people still use metal utensils on nonstick pans and then wonders why they lose their nonstick properties.

    • +8

      So he's a forking @$$hole then? ;-)

    • On the oil/butter issue, makes me wonder about those Stonedine/Stonecote/Ceramic pans touted by that irritating shrill guy on the morning shows (still want tho', I'm an infomercial junkie) where he blows the egg off the pan with his breath.

  • Is this nation wide?

This deal seems to come up every time just before tax, I purchased one of these last time and it's an awesome pan to have! well worth the money

    • +8

yes. you take it to your tax meeting with your accountant. if you don't like your return….

      • +4

Then you cook him breakfast? :-P

        • +5

You cook him FOR breakfast ;)

  • had one of these for 2.5 years they are great. ours has even been dropped and has a slight ding.. its still great

not good for dry frying… produce alot of smoke when hot

    • You must have it too hot. I love mine and dry fry all the time for the last about 2 1/2 years.

  • Not sure if things have changed, but the aluminum French made ones have coatings that last quite abit longer than the steel Chinese ones. My last Chinese made tefal was about four years ago so things might have changed.

    • On that basis I had the chinese one and it was good….

Just bought a bunch of french ones so I will let you know in 2.5 years how they stack up ;-P

the one in the photo with steel handle is Made in china…. But Kmart Catalogue got most of them on sale so, if you check the label "MAde in France" is the one you need to pick up.

    • what's the difference? hard anodized?

        • Stainless steel:

Stainless steel has a high resistance to corrosion, is durable, scratch resistant and dishwasher safe. It can have a polished or brushed exterior, which offers a professional look.

        • Aluminium:

Aluminium has four times better heat distribution than stainless steel. It maintains 93% of heat. It has a high resistance to corrosion, and is lightweight and easy to clean. It is dishwasher safe.

        • Hard anodised:

Hard anodised pans distribute heat evenly and quickly. The strong surface ensures resistance to abrasion and corrosion. Hard anodised pans are tough and durable, with natural non-stick qualities.

        • Cast aluminium:

Cast aluminium pans have excellent heat retention and conduction. They are durable and heavyweight, ideal for oven to table. Cast aluminium is dishwasher safe.

Well, you can have your fair opinion on products made in China, but use china instead of capital letter just revealed what kind of person you are. You don't have to buy them if you don't like the quality, in a free economy like Australia, there is always an alternative, of course whether it's within your budget is another matter.

      • +4

Really? Not capitalising China marks some sort of racist attitude? perhaps he typed fast, or on a phone, or just not perfect in English… he also wrote "MAde in France" what do you make of that?

At least now we know what sort of person you are (grammar Nazi) :-P

No need to go that far,Nzai,:( , if it's a typo, my apology. However, just on this forum, not the first time I saw this.

        • Basically, I refuse to buy any products the Made in c(C)hina or PRC as much as I can. No one knows what type of materials or chemical that they used in the product.

The pan in the photo with the metal handle is not the "So Tasty" range that's on the price tag. The "So Tasty" range has a plastic/rubber grip.

Also, the "gourmet anodized" wok pan in the pic is 30cm, not 28cm. I don't think there is a 28cm version of the metal handled "gourmet anodized" pan (though I could be wrong).

I do know that there is a 26cm gourmet anodized pan with metal handle (same model as the pic) which is $25 at Kmart.

Having said all that, a half price 28cm Tefal "So Tasty" pan is still a good deal.

EDIT: pics and description update since this comment was posted.

    Bought the 30cm $29 and the 26cm $25.
Good deal on hard anodised fry pans.
    Cheers.

  • Got a 32cm one.
Didn't really realise how wide it was until I took it home and compared to all my other pans

    I wish it was deeper.
