  • Thanks! :)

Only 50% off? I can get a better deal on vacuum cleaners.

      • Its actually 2.0x's off since your getting more money back then what your spending

        • +2

Either 50% off or "100% ON"

        • You mean like 200% off?

        • Normally if you want to buy a $2 coin someone will sell one to you for… yep, you guessed it.. $2. If they are selling it for $1 then that is half price. Half price from memory, last time I checked, was 50% off.

        • But you're also instantly making $1, not just getting an item worth $2.

I guess technically either way is correct.

        • Yeah but it's a sale. When you buy something you instantly own the item.

  • Nice one, thanks OP :)

now i can afford more soft serves!

Paid by amex through PayPal to bring profit from $1.00 to $1.01.

    • +1

Can you explain what is the story of Amex?

      • +1

American Express credit card, you earn Frequent Flyer points (or others if you like). Depending on the card it's usually 1FF point per $1 spent. You can link your American Express credit card to your PayPal and use it for PayPal payments (so money comes out of your Amex instead of PayPal account or bank account).

        • +1

Thanks for the info. That's exactly what I'm doing, but didn't count the rewards value in this case. You do get more reward points from Amex than visa/mastercard.

        • Don't forget the Citibank Citibusiness Gold Card, its 1.25 points per dollar, and its a Visa. Its not far behind the best Amex'es out there!

        • +1

Unfortunately they discontinued that card. It also had a $74 annual fee, compared to $0 annual fee you can get with some Amex cards. It was a great Visa option though.

        • I'm not sure if I get the benefits of AMEX over the traditional Visa/Mastercard.

Can't you link those two to PayPal aswell? I pay my Telstra bill through Paypal and put it on the linked Visa card I have…

What advantage does the AMEX give in this case?

        • It depends on what card you have and what rewards program you pick. Some banks offer two credit cards in one account. Of this two credit cards, one is Amex and other is Visa or Mastercard (I know at least NAB and Westpec do). You can pick the rewards program you like, either bank owned one or Qantas frequent flyer or virgin Australia velocity frequent flyer.
The Amex card usually give you more rewards points per dollar spend than visa/mastercard. So you can accumulate your points quicker and get more points for the same amount spend.
Yes. I link Amex and 28 degrees to PayPal. Clever ozbargainer knows when to use which card ;P

  • Cheers, voted after I made sure I got the coin :)

  • Cool. Got one this time.

Can i pay using ING paywave?

    • Haha!

  • Thanks for the post!

  • Yes, good to use Amex. Forgot about cashback though!

    • +1

What is the Amex cash back?

  • GREAT !!!

  • Got one last time, and just bought another. Thanks OP.

  • can you buy more than 1?

    • Limit 1 per customer

  • This is actually against Ebay policy, since they are technically selling currency.

    • +1

      Then don't buy it

      • +2

        Never said I cared.

It's just a warning, since the second Ebay brings it down, they don't have to abide by Paypal protection rules, as the listing will have never existed.

        • +1

This isn't true even if the listing is taken down you can still do chargebacks through PayPal. It has happened to be before from eBay violations.

  • +2

omg 7 day money back LOL

  • yay!! got one this time.

  • Thanks Op. Grabbed one.Expired now.

  • All gone.

  • +3

    I'd buy that for a $1

  • Expired.

    Thanks again for the post!

  • Missed :(

  • Just ended

  • Wonder how many of those 150 buyers were from OzB? Surely have the majority :)

  • Good deal..but its ended now..

  • missed again, but intrigued - why do they keep giving away money ? Surely ebay + ratings aren't worth $1 per point ?

    • +1

Yeah I guess it's a marketing tactic. To sell 150 coins would be about $280 after the $1 loss per coin, postage and Ebay fees. In return they get 150 (maybe 100-120 realistically) postive ebay ratings and 100s of people seeing their store or maybe site. Doesn't sound worth it like you say but maybe it works for them :)

    • +3

Let me see: you give them your clean $1 in exchange for their dirty $2. What is this called? hmmm…

Just joking. Like Hamza23 said, prolly just a marketing tactic.

  • +13

Thought this was a good deal until i payed with my old paypal account which has no money linked to it. paypal and my bank both charged me a "dishonor fee" and now my +1 = -20 :( fail.

    • i shouldn't laugh, but i did.. that sucks mate.

    • Damn that hurts. Grab an ING bank account or another which doesn't have dishonour fees.

  • +3

It was fun to keep refreshing the eBay page and seeing how many people were buying it.

Refreshing every 5 seconds there'd be one or two sold, then there was 10 sold…and that's when I knew OzBargain was taking effect lol

    • +1

I was doing the same thing! :D

  • Thanks OP. I saw the post when it was posted 7 mins ago. Finally didn't miss this time :)

    • +4

      0 available / 150 sold

    • +1

have fun skyrocketing your postage costs

    • +4

How would selling 10cents for 5cents sell faster than $2 for $1. Also it pays to spend a little more attention in math class, $2 is worth 20x as much as 10cents, not the other way round.

  • I missed it again but its a good deal.

  • That dollar basically covers postage costs and seller fees. So basically they're buying 150 unique feedbacks for $150. Not bad to boost your eBay rating!

    • +6

      think that one through again…

      • +2

Doh… yeah… never try to do maths and reasoning while sleep deprived.

  • +5

Damn!!! Missed it! Looks like my kids are going to go hungry again for another night… at least I have enough to buy me bundy!

  • +1

    Price match at OW?

  • +3

    Their feedback is only 98.2% - so that's why they're doing this…

    • They also known for their terrible customer service and poor reliability:
      http://www.productreview.com.au/p/the-nile-book-store.html

It really is pot luck if you will receive your products or not.

      • I can only speak from experience but I ordered an accounting book for my girlfriend and it arrived in a couple of weeks, no worries. They aren't too bad at all from my perspective.

  • Create a million accounts and get rich.

    • or surely they could just make fake accounts and rate themselves

      • If eBay finds you doing that then your store can be taken down, then suddenly all of the sales they have made are destroyed because it would screw with their customer base and they would have to start from a 0 rating.

  • +1

just got my 2$ haha its legit
    coin isnt shiny though =\

  • Just got mine too, thanks OP. And do the right thing guys, take a second to give them 5 stars :)

    • or neg me, whatever :/
