    • +4

I thought the interface looked more like iOS :P

      • I smell an injunction coming… ;)

  • +35

Still too high-tech for my mother-in-law.
Can you get a model with a rotary dial?

    • +1

      LOL, same for my Grandpa!
"How the bl00dy he11 do you answer this thing"??

      • Flip phones are better easier to use open and close to answer and numbers for speed dial but there getting harder to find these days

    • -3

Same, my dad won't be happy till there are no buttons at all.

2G makes this phone a pass, unfortunately.

      • +2

why do you even need 3g? 2g has coverage on most networks as well as, if not more than 3g? You don't need the 3g data speeds…

        • Isn't 2G being switched off soon?

        • 3G actually has better voice clarity…

    • +1

yes, you actually can get a portable rotary phone that uses a SIM card

No stock near 2065 or 2000. Guess all the senior bargainers grabbed them. :)

    • +3

How'd they get on here o_o

    • +1

no box, used sample pic, 15-45 days delivery, not really like for like

    • Also doesn't specify the 2G bands.

DSE's one is 900 / 1800, your one doesn't specify the bands so it might be 850/1900 (US bands) instead.

Also its not a retail pack.

  • +2

    is it 4g?

    • +28

it says no 3g, so it must have 4g

        • +19

          twas sarcasm….

  • who needs iphone!! this will give awsum battery life.. charging your phone everyday will be thing of the past ;)

  • +1

Owned one before. Quality highly questionable, battery died after 1 week. Selling AUD15 in China.

  • +3

    Memory info
    Expandable Memory Up to 8Gb

I wonder what would this phone need to store up to 8gb?

    • +2

      it's for elderly people.

when you're old you forget a lot.

so you need 8gb to remember everything.

(I'm in my 30s and I forget heaps of things)

    • +7

Telephone numbers for the entire planet.

    • so you can grandparents can scan and store their whole handwritten address book in it lol

  • +4

Most of the 240p on youtube probably came from this.

  • +2

    With ASCII apps!

  • why not nokia non-smartphone?

  • +2

This is a top end phone for old and the disabled, works as it claims to do, easy to access answering calls, sms might be abit fidley, but old people generally don't use the sms features anyway.
It's very similar to the Nokia 5210, if that wasn't easy enough, then I don't know what is.

  • +2

Not all old people are technophobic, my grandfather is in his 90's and he figured it out all out by himself.

We just told him that if he had a question he could just Google it, so he did. If only everyone else was that bloody sensible.

    • a client did that when he wanted a PDF reader. He ended up downloading it from softonic or something, who bundle a whole bunch of adware along with the program. Sigh!

      • looks like you can't google for common sense :p

  • +1

You can also buy a cheap android phone like Huawei Y201 http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/99953 from Coles (Coles got this phone on sale very often). Use flybuys to bring the cost less than $30.

Install this program https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JO78enRWlTU for about $10

Unlock the phone is about $5.5

    • +1

I installed the Big Launcher app (Android launcher mentioned in the Youtube video link) for my 80 year old father and he absolutely loves it. Highly recommended for the elderly!

    • Huawei y201 would be fine for the technologically challenged once someone had set everything up for them, but they're not necessarily going to be able to use it out of the box. It's not going to take someone else more than a few minutes to set it up for them though.

  • why is this a bargain at $45 when we have seen heaps of feature phone deals <$20?

    • +3

Those cheap little Nokia feature phones have buttons and digits that are too small for oldies to see. This phone is designed especially for aged use.

  • Well it's sold out. Here is another phone that could be suitable for the oldies. It's $100 though, but it does have a SOS button.

    • if I was 70+ years old and in the market for big buttoned phone, I'd consider getting that one lol

  • its a great phone for grandma. bought one before for $80 last year and was money well spent.

  • In all seriousness get the Doro Easycall phone

  • +4

This would be a good phone after a night out on the turps

  • This looks awfully familiar to this

    http://readwrite.com/files/gs4_easy_mode.jpg

  • Jesus, is that a good price for a no-frills phone?

  • -2

This would be a terrible phone for seniors as the lack of 3G means your a stuck on the legacy GSM network which has pretty terrible coverage especially in country areas.
