Thanks :) Ps I think the times are the wrong way around. 2pm gmt should be 12am Aus and 4pm gmt should be 2am Aus.

      fixed

    • +1

Depends which state you are in….

      • +1

        fixed to AEST

        • +2

So it's even better in WA, 10pm isn't really night yet at all :P
Plus, the topic is somewhat relevant to some of us, could be interesting.

  • -2

Is this for real? Look at the first line. They seem to have a problem with basic sentence structure.

"BYOD, BYOA and user expectations to access critical resources anytime, anywhere make WLANs not simply nice to have anymore, but mission critical.. "

If it was a professional event that a lot of money was being put into it, one might think they would have an above grade 3 grasp of the english language.

    • +3

Reads okay to me. Granted it's cumbersome (and lacks effective punctuation); but still syntactically correct, isn't it?

      • +1

Hmmm OK I guess it does sort of make sense in a way. I guess I would just expect a clearer and more comprehensible introductory sentence given they would be putting a lot of money into this. It does make me a tad suspicious.

      • but still syntactically correct, isn't it?

        No, it is not.

    • +2

That sentence makes perfect sense. Sentence structure is not the greatest but one might assume that you have a grade 3 level of comprehension. BYOD, BYOA and user expectations (to access critical resources anytime and anywhere) make WLANs critical (and not just nice to have).

      • -7

I disagree that it makes perfect sense but thank you for the unwarranted aggression.

        • +1

I don't get the hate here, you're dead right, it's a piss poor effort for an outfit apparently trying to sell themselves globally…end of story.

Anybody who thinks that level of communication is professionally acceptable is seriously kidding themselves.

Thank goodness for not crossing the line between a good OzB and one who encourages fraud to get ahead

the link they emailed worked, but the button on the web site didnt for some reason.

  • Hi, in future, can we get the webinar topic visible in the summary? Currently reads like you're promoting going just to get a voucher rather than to learn something.

Hi Rick, i welcome you here on OzBargain, please take a seat and have cookie. I hope you enjoy your stay.

      • +3

Thanks ElWircho! I've been here a while, but your welcome has warmed the cockles of my heart.

      • +2

We have free cookies? Cool! Now that's a bargain I can go for.

        • +2

Please post cookie deal on front page?

        • You have to supply the cookie yourself

    • I did edit the post to include the topic

      • +2

Thanks easternculture .. but it doesn't appear on the index page. Even if we just had "Juniper Networks Webinar" in the title rather than just "Webinar".

Sorry if I'm being a fussy pedant.

    • +2

Currently reads like you're promoting going just to get a voucher rather than to learn something.

Everyone knows that webinars are total crap and the "bargain" here isn't a 1 hour waste of time.
But hey, any measure to ensure they don't get OzBargained and will acutally honour their promises is welcome.

Wanted to ask… will the US gift card work with an account that says I live in AUS? Or only for US accounts?

I have an account that says I live in the US (ehe), recently got an email saying 'your account might not be in the US, send us ur passport'

If anyone has any details on how all this region crap works on amazon, any info would be really appreciated.

    Thanks!

    • +1

If you have an amazon.com account the gift card will work.

      • So amazon.com account, but I say I live in AUS to avoid issues with amazons region detection.
        Ok, seems straightforward. Thanks!

    • +1

      Did it really say:

your account might not be in the US, send us ur passport

      Possibly phishing? scam?

      • +1

Lol, the same people that hate me for pointing out my suspicions are probably mailing them their passports right now.

        • No, seriously, a Nigerian prince is gonna send them a cool million, they've just gotta pay a few back taxes…

      • No, I've heard of Amazon doing this before, not in those direct words, but if they see you're lying about your address from your IP they can ask you to prove you live there. I've seen it pop up in kindle ebook topics.

  • +1

I registered and downloaded the invite to Calendar on my Mac. It says the seminar runs from 12am to 10am in the morning!

    • LOL!

  • Didn't receive any email :(.

    • Assuming no typo on email address, maybe check spam folder. My confirmation email came through almost immediately….

  • Yep midnight to 10am…… I definitely will be watching attentively for ten hours, and not simply logging on at midnight and then going to bed…. ;-)

  • +2

Bart: Who's up at 3:17 AM watching TV?
Homer: Alcoholics, the unemployable, angry loners…

  • Do I need to give real details when signing up? Will this affect the amazon gift card that I receive (ie is it linked to name/address)?

    • I just put my primary Amazon email, real first and last name but different postcode, phone number and company/occupation.

  • Anyone know how long the webinar is? The 12am one should be ok so long as it isn't too long

    • Apparently 10 hours until 10am, according to the calendar invite it put in my Blackberry lol.

  • My time is worth more than US$10

    • +3

That's fair comment. Sure, if you're awake anyway & you can just log on & forget it, then yeah ten bucks is ten bucks…that's why I pos'd the deal myself.

OTOH, if you have to be present for the entire 10hrs, well even sweatshop workers get better than $1/hr! ;)

  • Leaving the computer on for 10 hours would cost $10 in electricity bill?

    • +1

It'd take the average home PC around a month of typical use to burn through $10 of electricity.

If in doubt, just watch the webinar on your phone which uses less that $1 of electricity a year:

      http://lifehacker.com/5948075/how-much-energy-a-smartphone-u…

    • Tyler, if that was true, my electricity bill would be $3000 a quarter :p

  • I clicked on the 'Go to Deal' button and saw 'Thank you for your interest in the Juniper Webinar. Registration is now closed!'. I think it's full now.

  • They have put up some terms and conditions that defiantly weren't available when registration was active.

    • Ah, obviously they are some of those USA crowd that initially forget countries other than the USA exist. You would think IT related people would have remembered that. ;-p

      • You know IT people, the global village & all that…

Geeks Sans Frontières (Nerds Without Borders). ;)

        • +1

Going by the weekend computer markets I sometimes go to, it's actually Geeks Sans Deodorant.

        • Those people usually do not work in IT.

  • Is there anybody that do not plan to learn from the webinar?
PM me your login for your allocated session, I actually want to listen to what they have to say.

    Thanks

  • In light of the "Only available to US IT professionals" info being posted here..

Is anybody still planning on watching at 2am?(4 hours away)

    • i might leave my comp on overnight, no pain, potential gain. Anyone know how long it goes for?

  • So do we have to wait til 2am to start it? The link still says 'Coming soon!'.
If so, I think I'd rather wait for the 12am one on Friday.

  • They have Changed the Terms and conditions, which weren't even there when we signed up:

I can't even log in, it says i'm not registered.

    • I managed to login, There is a live feed of colour bars with the words OFFLINE over them at the moment.
it says there are 140 viewers and slowly counting upwards.

      • i cant log in..zz

        • It does say you need to have 'registered with your company e-mail account', maybe they are denying all free public email accounts ?

        • Maybe..I used my hotmail account so I suppose that makes sense

        • same here…

        • ah well, there goes that then

  • says 'This e-mail does not appear to be registered.'?

  • Well if you have used a gmail live hotmail etc, that's not business email address so you won't able to login

  • I Received my $10 gift card today and successfully redeemed it in my Amazon account.

    • i registered and logged on when the presentation was 'on' and thought everything was ok until i got an email stating 'sorry we missed you' stating i didnt log on…. oh well its only $10
