most of it is pretty good last time bought hoodie, jeans and shoes
hoodie and shoes are pretty good
jeans not really the best, though they were all buttons (no zipper, gotta watch out for that)
haven't bought from marks and spenser so cannot compare

      • +1

        jeans not really the best

We have not purchased any of their own branded Jeans (nor any other brand of Jeans from TopMan). However, from looking at some in their Sydney store I would agree with you.

On the other hand, their Chinos have been great. Made in 'strange' countries too. The UAE for example.

whats the quality like compared to Marks&Spenser?

Having purchased from both stores (in the case of TopMan, both online and from their Sydney store) I have to say that TopMan has been better 'quality' clothing.

However, TopMan is aimed at the 'younger set' - such as my son. Say, 17 to 20ish?

    • +2

      thanks guys!

  • would have been nice a couple of days ago with the free shipping though I'm sure there is still a 10-20% off code floating around as well

Anyone with experience from Topman able to give advice on the sizes of hoodies and tops?
Are they usually accurate with their measurement size guide on the site?

    • -1

They are usually a size smaller. Their size Medium = Australian Small etc.

      • They are usually a size smaller. Their size Medium = Australian Small etc.

I do not agree. I just checked back on our last ten orders from 2012 to now. From our experience with Shirts, T-Shirts, Sweatshirts, and Jumpers, their Mediums have been correctly sized.

From five pairs of size 32" Skinny Chinos, four were correctly sized, one pair was more like a 29"-30".

I guess though that it depends upon where you are buying from in Australia. For my son the sizing in Factorie, GlueStore, Culture Kings, and other 'young people' shops, matches the TopMan sizes - he gets size 'M'. In Target and K-mart he needs size 'S'.

  • able to give advice on the sizes of hoodies and tops?
Are they usually accurate with their measurement size guide on the site?

We have never used any "size guide". Never noticed one.

However, we have found the sizes to be accurate as so far as S, M, L, go. Especially with Hoodies, Shirts, and T-Shirts. One has to be careful with the Chinos (eg. 30inch, 32inch, etc.) as they can be from different manufacturers in different countries.

Strangely, none of the items we have purchased were made in China.

    Topman is really good.

They don't sell Alpha Dockers Chinos in Australia and I can't seem to find any sites that ship them to Australia without ridiculous shipping, I have to settle with Topman which are not as good but still decent.

    • try ebay i bought some dockers from there.

  • +1

They seem to be running out of the more popular sizes of certain items.

    Pants
Dark Grey Slim Chinos - Limited sizes in most other colours - £12.00

  • Serious question, would anybody on OzB wear this: http://www.topman.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDispl… ?

      • How about this one?
        http://www.topman.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDispl…

        How about it?

As you can see from the pictures, it can look very nice on the 'right' person. I would prefer that he was wearing not the complete suit, but just the jacket with perhaps black or tan/brown trousers. However, if the wearer wanted to 'stand out' at some function perhaps the complete suit would be better.

There are many different 'races' in the world, and TopMan would have customers all over the world. Some clothes may happen to 'suit' some races better than others.

My son is a mix of races, he can wear a wider range of clothing than I can - not just because of his youth. Certainly there is not much for me at TopMan because they do not cater to 'oldies' (those over 40).

        • Honestly, I fear for the self-esteem of some poor kid who thought he had to wear something as gaudy that Joker Suit to look good…seriously, standing out is one thing, but you want to be doing it for the right reasons…LOUD =/= good!

…although, might be good for busking! ;)

        • +1

Is there a need for this childish bickering?

I managed to find some nice plain clothes that are no longer listed probably because it's out of stock from the sale, but I'm happy with it.

If you don't like what they have on sale then good for you.

        • +2

Race-based fashion selection. The things i learn on OB…

        • Is there a need for this childish bickering?

Clearly there is, since you felt the need to involve yourself in it unco…

        • Is there a need for this childish bickering?

I don't think so - i'm just looking for a momentary distraction from this cowpat sitting on my desk that i need to deal with…

Anyway, I adore A3 - we go way back.

        • Honestly, I fear for the self-esteem of some poor kid who thought he had to wear something as gaudy that Joker Suit to look good…seriously, standing out is one thing, but you want to be doing it for the right reasons…LOUD =/= good!

…although, might be good for busking! ;)

Obviously the suit jacket is not meant for "some poor kid". The pictures show it (as a complete suit) being worn by a Negro man.

I guess it (the jacket) is meant for those who want to 'stand out'? I can see it being worn by (young) men in the entertainment business (music, movies, etc.), on stage or at 'openings', events, and so on.

At least it is half price, and less the 20% discount makes it even a better price.

        • "Race-based fashion selection."

Well, it was TopShop that decided to use a black model. They must have thought that it made the garment look its best. They want to sell clothes after all.

    • Serious question, would anybody on OzB wear this

      Not me, nor my son.

However, why pick on things that you would not buy or wear?

Why not post some 'nice' things, that are on sale and still in stock?

      • However, why pick on things that you would not buy or wear?

        Why not??? :p

FWIW, I never picked on anything, I asked a simple question…and I thank you for your answer in the negative…but there's no need to be so defensive mate.

And don't be using the word 'nice'. I hate that word.

        • -2

Certainly cheaper than the medical expenses for the beating you'd get for wearing some of this gear in public…I must apologise for using the word defensive too A3, I really meant insecure! ;)

I would have posted a link to something nice, but there doesn't seem to be anything that meets the criteria. :p

        • I would have posted a link to something nice, but there doesn't seem to be anything that meets the criteria. :p

You are just being silly. There are/were well over a thousand different items included in the 50% Off Sale. Even allowing for differing tastes, there are plenty of 'nice' items.

        • Ok A3, since you're clearly so keen on seeking my approval of your fashion sense…how's about you post a link to something not completely fugly??? Or at least something that you couldn't only get away with wearing at Mardi Gras or Halloween?

All I'm seeing is you with your knickers in a twist, I haven't seen you offer up any examples either…for instance, what did you or your son order???

        • +1

I wouldn't mind something nice to wear as well.

Firstly, I am not "keen on seeking" your "approval of" my "fashion sense". There are many items on TopMan.com that I would never order for myself (most of them in fact).

Secondly, as I wrote in an earlier 'comment' posting - we have made over ten orders in the past via my TopMan account, and now with this sale it is eleven orders. Most have been made either by my son, or by me after his approval. He also has his own TopMan account, and I am not sure what he has purchased via his account.

Here are some items purchased via my account:-
Black And White Invisible Socks 5 Pack - Black Item code - 85L19FMUL
Grey Marl 'M' Mickey Printed Sweatshirt - Mid Grey Item code - 37G68FGRY
Grey Marl Valentines Mickey Printed Sweatshirt - Grey Item code - 37G71FGYM
Animal Print Mickey T-Shirt - White Item code - 71F17FWHT
GREY SWALLOWS PRINT SHORT SLEEVE SHIRT - Grey Item code - 83D12FGRY
Off White Coloured Camo Turnup Skinny Chinos - Cream Item code - 68F24EOFF
Off White Aztec Detail Skinny Chinos - Cream Item code - 68F12EOFF
Palace Blue Ultra Skinny Trousers - Blue Item code - 88D04EBLE
OFF WHITE DIP DYE STRIPE T-SHIRT - Cream Item code - 71X00FOFF
Off White Skinny Chinos - Cream Item code - 68O08FOFF
Burgundy Skinny Chinos - Red Item code - 68O37EBRG
BLACK AND WHITE STRIPE T-SHIRT - multi Item code - 71X04FWHT
Burgundy Square Pattern Jumper - Burgundy Item code - 81E01FBRG (This was for me! Made in Italy, and great value at only 12 UK pounds).

My son has also made many TopMan purchases in-store (at 'normal' prices and during their 50% off sales) in both their Tokyo and Sydney stores. These included shirts, T-Shirts, denim sleeveless jackets, and heavy winter coats.

  • Here, use one of these next time:

I did. I used "nice". The word in your list between "marvelous" (sic) and "pleasing".

    • Oh crap, it is too….

      • -1

When he said 'nice', he actually meant 'frilly'! :p

  • Has anyone actually received their order? It's almost 3 weeks and I have not received mine.

    • I got mine but half of it doesn't fit. Oh well.

    • I got mine 12 business days after my card was charged. (they also cancelled one item because it wasn't instock, nice clothing and fits me well but kind of bummed that they cancelled the shirt I ordered.)

  • I got mine on Friday last week. All fits well, I'm happy.

  • I still haven't received my order…When were your orders dispatched (for the people who have received theirs) and what is your location?

Mine was supposed to have been dispatched on the 19th June and have arrived before 2nd July, but nothing.

How long do I have to wait before I give up and concede it's lost?

    • Mine was despatched June 20 and still nothing..! Got yours? I worried I saw lots of bad reviews on their shipping service.

      • Have you guys tried sending them an email to see if they can follow up on it?

        • I'll give it a few more days

        • Maybe not… another order from them that i made 2 weeks later came today, so the other really should have…

      • I placed another order since my first one arrived, and the second order has already arrived as well. I'm not metro but in a fairly large regional area if that makes any difference.
