DIY is the best bargain you can ever have for replacing iphone screens

    • isnt it a major PITA to get the glass away from the digitizer/LCD?
or do they just replace the whole part?

edit nvm - I think they replace the whole part - its around $20 to DIY for those that want to know.
Just the glass itself is around $3 but I think its really difficult to get the digitizer off.

    "Digimob uses genuine parts"

thats impossible. apple don't provide parts outside of their factory.

also this voids the shit out of your apple limited/consumer rights warranty since you modified the product.

    • Isn't your warranty void anyway, since you've dropped your phone and smashed the screen.

      • A friend with a cracked iphone 4 or 3S got a new iphone 4 for $170. I got the phone from her for that price. Although you don't get the other accessories like the headphone and the wall charger.
Others with any issues may choose to inquire with Apple first.

      • Your warranty isn't void if you crack the screen.

If your item continues to behave like what it should (i.e. make phone calls and send text messages) your device is still functioning.

Say this to Apple next time you have a legitimate faulty phone and you might get out paying $179 for the replacement under warranty.

In fairness, they don't say authentic. I summise that they mean they are genuinely parts, not just squished up ants or little bits of crushed up coke can, as some less reputable repairers are known to use.

    • Apple do not own factorys that build iPhones, they contract out production to foxconn and the like. This is the likely source of components. It is unlikely there would be factories producing retina displays just as after market parts, that were in anyway comparable in quality to the original.

    pity its scoopon

  • According to these article, fixing a smashed screen is actually a 'downgrade'.
