Bought one of these at the last sale. Much better quality than I'd thought they'd be. Excellent value then. Fantastic now!

    • Some of these arrive broken, but dick smith will arrange recollection and replacement.

  • +1

Have one too, good quality for price excepting has a missing foot. But it did come from SideoftheRoad store.

  • I spent $4 on hair clippers, a surge board, 10m coaxial tv plug (which i actually really needed), and a backup iphone battery! Unbelieveabubble!

    • Ordered 2 of the ipod power adapters for pick up at Carindale. Will see if they actually have stock or not though…

      • If you can wait those ipod adapters are delivered free
        Edit: that changed fast

    Product Dimension Information 800 (L) x 423 (W) x 500 (H) mm

A bit too small for today large TV but for $25 good value for someone need it.

  • Selected 5 network cables. Add to cart. Select store to pickup. States that there is plenty of stock. I click proceed. Times out. Click again "Currently out of stock".

    Always happens with Dick Smith.

Also consider at these prices people would be pouncing on them. Ozbargainers are lightening fast when it comes to snapping up a bargain.

      • damn straight.

      • Spot on. Had to select delivery in the end. Extra $5 doesn't hurt too much.

  • Thanks OP
Bought a Hot Wheels 7" Home & Car DVD Player $19.98

Great for a kids present. Discontinued and reduced from ~$80

  • Thanks OP, Got a few cables.

  • thanks got a tv cabinet, $25 cant go wrong. any idea as to the dimensions of the box? will it fix in a 99 civic GLi? :P

    • Yes if it is a hatch

  • Thanks man, great price on the 3D glasses, the pairs I have are old and heavy. None left in George St store now.

  • ..

  • usually click&collect, My order got cancelled, winston hills didnt have any stock:

Cable TV Plug - TV Plug 10m
5m Cable - 3.5mm Stereo Plug to 3.5mm Stereo Jack
2m Cable - 3.5mm Stereo Plug to 3.5mm Stereo Plug

    • Same here with winston hills. I think staff bought everything up since they told me they had the cables (3) but the manufacturer said they were faulty. They gave this same excuse for 2 other unrelated items…

Registered to say I bought this from Bing Lee in 2010 for ~$200

  • Anyone know the size of the cabinet when constructed?

  • I know this always gets asked but could anyone recommend a good charger for my eneloops? Mine just died. Would be great if it could do multiple battery types too. :)

  • I bought the cabinet at $50 a few weeks ago. Decent cabinet, and holds my 55" Soniq TV without problems

  • "Matchmaster VHF/UHF Antenna $30"

Dunno if it applies to this particular model, but be careful when you buy a roof antenna these days - given that we're switching off the analogue signal at the end of the year, existing antennas may no longer be suitable and might cause interference with your digital signal as they're still designed to pick up the old frequencies that are will longer be in use for digital TV. As such, these antennas should no longer be sold. There was an article about this in the current month's issue of Silicon Chip magazine if you're interested.

Bought two of the 5m ext cables and 3 of the powerboards for $5.00!
Then the old lady next to me said she had just come in for a board and couldn't believe I had got it for $1.
Since there was none left and she only had a $2 coin, she bought it off me straight away.
So 2 cables and 2 boards for $3.00
(I did look at just giving it to her, but she insisted on paying me)

    • so nice of you to do that,, I called DSE in the Melbourne CBD but they are out of stock already =(

would you believe this post triggered me to try to buy another clearance item from dick smith hollywood plaza sa only to be told by the manager whos name started out as being tim and changed to peter by the end of conversation that they had been ordered to destroy all of the items at the start of this conversation he had not yet done it but by the end of it he had he claimed the list included 40 different items customer service would not answer but the answering machine said they would return my call by 5.00pm tomorrow customer service?

Would you believe how hard 5 lines of text can be to read when no punctuation is used?

Would you believe how hard 5 lines of text can be to write when vou dont know how to use punctuation i thought this was a bargain site not school

        • +3

I felt like a meth addict while reading that.

        • +1

Don't know how to use punctuation? Full-stops and commas…It might not be school but taking a few seconds to proof read posts is just common courtesy. It doesn't have to be essay perfect, but at least make an effort. This isn't MySpace, can we talk like adults? Assuming you are one?

          Winner!

  • Click and Collect 3 items. Received the confirmation emails. Then following the email, called the store after 2 hours . No stock. doggy Dicksmith!!

  • Anyone know height of the shelves? Can they fit a Microserver?

  • Went to Dick Smith at Helensvale, Qld. They have all these items in stock (even as of about 11am), but they're refusing to sell them for these prices.

  • I rang the local store as I couldn't seem to do the 'click and collect' - the lady said there's plenty of the Eneloop battery packs, don't need to put them aside.

Told her it was just on oz-bargain and she put them straight under the counter. Along with some for her. She didn't know about the promo price.

  • grabbed some network cables

  • Reserved two hot wheels DVD players thanks

  • Once again DSE hasn't come through. I'm guessing the staff at my local store bought them for themselves. I placed an click and collect order for my local store for 2 powerboards and 2 coax tv cables (2 of 2m, 2 of 4m), all of which were "in stock" and guess what … there was a "website error". Apparently none are in stock from the phone call I just received. So I'm interested to hear if anyone else actually manages to collect their order.

    • Forget click and collect - just go instore and see what you can find!
The staff at my local had no idea, but $1ea is what the computer said, so they didn't even question it.

    • Usualy an issue of phantom stock. Yes it shows on their system, but does not exist on the shelves. DS probably has not sold these with old stock number for years.

I was in store when the phone started ringing & click and collect orders came in. Staff were unaware of the deal, or if any stock existed.
A list of this stock came in from head office after it was posted on OB. It was up to each manager to decide what to do, as the directive was to dispose of stock. Some may see powerboards as more useful for use in the store than sold for $1.
I was given the list by the manager, but OBers had clicked up most of the interesting stock already, or it was phantom stock.

According to a manager, the powerboards have been sitting out the back for years, after the change in packaging & stock number. My guess is a few are powering display stock on their shelves.

So I was in the store & have got to know the manager well enough to have access to DS documents, & I missed out on most!! Nothing to do with staff!

DS is in partial liquidation, clearing old stock.

The store stock system is inaccurate for old & low stock items. That is being corrected now as quit stock lists are going out to stores & managers need to locate stock to sell, dispose of, or otherwise remove from inventory.

Ordering based on a system that is inaccurate will be frustrating or useless, as I have posted many times.

Pretty simple, if there is no saleable stock, they can't sell it!

  • I tried ordering a few items by Click & Collect, from a few different stores which were showing plenty of stock. All of them have now called me back to tell me none of the items are available and it's an error of some kind that any of these items were listed at these prices.

I should have negged this hard….

i've got mine ready to pick up sms

  • Managed to get myself some cables from Perth CBD no dramas. They said they were honouring the prices with all the stock they have. No stock on the shelves, all in the store room as they were originally asked to send back to supplier.

  • Ended up with a couple of eneloops and a 10 coax cable. Thanks!

  • I'm getting this message on all pages now - including the search page.

Sorry, we have encountered a problem
We're really sorry, but for some reason we were unable to process your last request. It could be that we are making some site updates or a temporary site glitch.

I ordered a few of the power boards too but when i tunrned up they said even my text message is rubbish. It's only confirmed once it's been physically searched for them

  • Thanks op got 2 power boards for click and collect hope they have them going to pickup soon so I'll edit when I get it (if I do)

    • Whereabouts?

      • +1

        Canberra airport (majura shopping center)

        • +1

Thanks. I am 5 hour away from Canberra, bad luck for me. Good luck for you

        • Thanks mate :)

    • yer i saw them behind the counter lol…most of been urs

    • +1

EDIT: they put them aside pretty quick because I got the message to pick up about 2 mins after ordered not bad $2 for 2 powerboards

  • i placed the tv unit on click and collect at 8.30 AM and still no update/messages .. doest it mean DS stuffed up again ?? :@

  • Make sure to go instore and check the Product code for the item on display and online.
Got the 10m ethernet cable for $1 which was displayed as full price instore. (Syd George st)

    • the guy told me its only cross over cable…. ?? careful now :D

  • +2

Also got a call from the parra store in the morning saying the powerboards had all been used up for the instore tvs so they have no stock.. LIE !!!

    • I ordered two separately (definitely $1 powerboards) from the parramatta store. Got my dad to pick them up. Apparently one was $1 and the other was $20 and he tried to contact me in the morning to see if it was an error- never trust a salesman! haha. Ended up only getting one but i feel for you man!

  • Bought the demo tv stand for $10 today. Had some scratches but really, you would end up scratching the glass surface through normal use regardless. But the brand new ones sold out fast.

  • Got a 15m network cable (in-store only I assume as there's none for $1 on the website) and a 5m 3.5mm audio plug to socket for $1 each from Frankston (there's a little display area of $1 items at the front of the store near the registers), impulse buys but they'll come in handy no doubt :)

  • yer not much good stock unless u get lucky ^ ^ but the tv stands are quite small…cheap and good in my opinon though for $25 (its glass ^ ^ )

  • Was in a DS Store when the list of quit stock came through. That was after the phone started ringing. So stores got to know after OzBargainers. The manager gave me the list to see what I wanted, but there were already click & collects on all but 1 powerboard. Still got a stack of cables etc. Items that are selling for $30 sold for 46c! Items on the list were marked sell or destroy!!

So staff weren't buying up stock where I was, rather staff were last to know about these deal's. The deal was only for very old stock - identical to new stock but old packaging.

    • Yep the packaging on my network cable uses the old DS logo that was phased out 5(?) years ago.

      • Yes, many with the old DSE logo with the face & specks of Dick.

  • The Hotwheels DVD seems good value. But, how would you attach it to a headrest in the car??

  • Picked up my hair clippers for a $1, good timing as my current shaver is dying. Was told i was lucky using click and collect because head office told staff to throw these items out.

    • Manager I was chatting with said packaging did not comply with latest consumer laws. So was told to dispose of (if not sold by end of day or so).

  • +1

are the power boards really $2? SA are showing them for $20 with stock everywhere :(

  • Thanks OP picked up the tv stand, took about 10mins to assemble with my 3yr olds help. Looks great.

  • There is a LOT more stock being cleared than this. Was supplied with the quit stock lists from a nameless store today. Managers don't usually share these. Each store will have a different list of stock to clear, and as this is old stock, some will be phantoms - May not have existed for years.
    Picked up…
    N1395 Gaffer tape $1
L9605 Swann wireless door mat chime $5.61 ($30)
    F2193 phone ringer flasher 46c ($30)
    C9885 Sangean DAB RADIO $12.99
But there were about 100 on the lists.

  • Just a heads up I did click and collect for the Hot Wheels DVD player at Watergardens; They don't have the particular model listed, and are using other dvd players that are Hot Wheels branded to count as same stock (I ended up with a black model with non-swivel screen.)

For those interested, it supports the following for USB/SD card playback:

File formats: .mpeg, .avi, .ts, .mov, .mkv, .dat, .mp4, .vob, .rm, .rmvb

Video codecs: MPEG-1/2/4 (inc SP/ASP deveitives), XVID, MJPEG, RV8/RV9/MP2

Audio codecs: MP3, WMA, AC3, PCM, Cook, MP2

DVD playback is region lock 4, but for $20 I'm certainly not complaining.

  • Got some network cables, thanx op :)

  • did a click and collect for the $19 Eneloops, in Wynnum QLD, it looked like there were still lots of stock…i also saw that the powerboards were $19.99 (and not $2) with heaps of stock..

    • It's up to the manager to set the price to clear stock. I bought the Surge Catcher at a Brissie store for $1.

      • which store did you go to in brissie?

        • Plenty of new stock on the shelves, but got the last of the old stock for $1.

  • DANGER I have just set the TV cabinet and it just exploded every where glass has traveled about 2m and is crackling about 20min after it exploded hopefully the pic will work. By the way it was not done up very tight it was firm but not tight. hope no one was hurt..

  • :/ I have never gotten my hands on these mystical eneloops.

Are are there often deals with 2pk AAs for ~$5?

    • i never knew about this eneloops either (and I have been using NiMhs for the past 8 years), only learned about them here..and i have not seen a 2 pack for $5

  • Just placed a Click and Collect for 2 packs of eneloop-aa-rechargeable-battery-glitter-8pk in Wynumn Brisbane.
Still shows available. But as stock levels are inaccurate, may not be any actual stock.
UPDATE: Your Click & Collect reservation is now ready for collection

Want 9 AA (have 1) for 3 x L9605 Swann wireless door mat chime $5.61ea ($30 shelf price) - installed around the house for my hard of hearing Father. All set to same frequency so pressing 1 button sets off all 3, these loud doorbells can be set to 3 volume levels, and 3 types of bell rings. So different buttons or floor mat can set off a different ring. Not using the door mats as a bit annoying everytime you enter house, but would also be great to keep track of someone with dementia!
