Great price, and a higher quality product too.

how is the suction and build quality of this? planning to purchase one for the car.

  • +1

Good price seeing as BigW sells it for $69.78

    • Its not the same product. The big w one is a Hoover 9.6V Handivac Plus

      • Both are same.. There is nothing like a Plus variant..

        • +4

They're not the same. Just been to my local Godfreys. The plus variant is $69 and the normal price for the non-plus one is $59.The salesperson couldn't tell me what the difference was though….

        • +3

If I was the salesperson, I'd have put in a smart comment like 'oh one has plus written on it and the other one doesn't, that's the difference' lol

        • I was going to say, if you're that smart, you wouldn't be working at Godfreys…. but that would be nasty ..so not going to say it;)

    • The equivalent could be this for $47.98:

The plus stands for plus $40

    • you forgot to hit reply.

Um… as I understand it, Godfreys brought the trademark "HOOVER", so these would be rebadged generic.

    • +1

Yep, confirmed. search 'Godfrey' within the Wikipedia page. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Hoover_Company

      • Blame the spell checker on my phone that sometimes changes my words just as I post, and my lack of interest in occassional minor spelling mistakes that do not detract from true understanding, except by pedants ;)
We all are prone to minor errors. In this case, either bought or brought could be used as the trademark is contained in physical form, but the former was intended.

  • Leaving to get one now! Two dirty car carpets to clean :)

Just got one. They said they've sold heaps but the sale is only on for a few more days.

  • +2

Good deal but I have a 12V handheld and even then it's not all that strong/powerful. If you're looking for one that is powerful consider investing a bit more $ :)

    • +2

I bought a Hoover dust buster thanks to OzBargain (catchoftheday) and it's a 7.2V. Bought my mum a 12V Kambrook from Kmart and it's not as powerful.
Moral of the story; voltage don't define the buster.

    What are these like?

Things might have changed, but I have previously had 9.6v vacs and found them too weak, I have been happy with the 12v or 14.4v ones.

  • Just bought one now in fountain gate, can confirm high quality product by the outside appearance, certainly way better than the older model I got from COTD which broke inside its box.

  • I've got a handheld hoover that i got from cotd…suction is not that great, i use it when I'm too lazy to get the powered full size vacuum out. Definately not strong enough to clean car carpets unless its just sand…

  • You saying Hoover is a Chinese product branded with hoover?

    • +4

It's from wherever Godfreys can buy them cheapest & have the old brand name of "HOOVER" added.

Good portable cleaner for small areas to be cleaned, will head out now !

  • +7

    This sucks

  • 9.6v enough for a car job?
most things stuck in the car carpet/mats are deep in there!

    • +1

I gave this exact model away to the mother-in-law today!

It had just enough battery life to vacuum the car. The only crap thing is there is no attachment to reach down the side of the seats.

It wasn't that great for around the house. Good for a garage.

  • No stock at Warringah mall.

    • Hornsby had it in stock.

  • I bought one of these a few months ago, the battery doesn't hold charge very well so unless you charge it right before you use it or always have the power turned on and charging.

I was thinking about taking it apart and inspecting the battery pack to see if I can make my own using LSD NiMH batteries but its probably more trouble than what its worth.

  • Did a search for same items on ebay and dhgate no luck, anyone find the same model for this without the branded badge?

How useful is this for cleaning up wet things?

  • -5

Seems like a decent flip reckon they'd go for 49 quite easily. Low outlay cost per unit as well.

Logged in just to say thanks OP!!! Hubby has detailed clean my car and now he's doing the drawers in the kitchen. He's like a kid with a new toy :)

      • +3

        Is that you Broden?

        • +2

If you look at his user name backwards it spells "broden"

    • +1

      @wicket1120:OP got a "+"…what do I get? :P

Edit: The vac did an ok job.Would have preferred a little bit more suction power, especially when doing the stairs (because , yes, I also did the stairs!!!)The 14.4 v would have been perfect for the job but wasn't willing to pay $99.

    • +2

No worries :) my misses also very happy with it, we use it for cleaning the kitchen bench and tables.

  • +3

I've had the 14.4 volt version of this Hoover for about a year, having previously owned both a 9.6v Black and Decker of similar basic design (pretty useless) and before that a 4.8v (completely useless).
Managed to negotiate 10% off the price - with enough difficulty to not make me want to shop at Godfrey's ever again.

The 14.4v Hoover is a seriously heavy, well built unit and the suction is a pretty big step up.
Having said that, $29 is very cheap for the 9.6. If it doesn't quite do the job you were hoping for, it's not exactly a great loss (money, not suction).

If you're looking for a full-on handheld vac - and you can justify the price to yourself - I think the Dyson ones are pretty much the only game in town at the moment.

  • -5

Don't buy this cleaner!!! I bought 14.4V one a week ago from Godfreys and it's terrible. The suction power sux. I couldn't pick up sugar from the floor. The problem is the mouth (inline) is too small and the small filter that sits between the motor filter and front compartment gets block very quickly.

    Bargain yes, useful no

    • +1

If you think it is a bargain you can't neg the deal. can you? and of course for $29 you cannot expect a Dyson. And you are comparing this to a different one.

  • +1

Does this come with a round suction attachment….

    • It comes with 2 attachments: one for dry and one for wet suction. Here's a pic

  • just came back from Hurstville store, out of stock =(

    • u snooze, u lose :(

  • Bought one today so far so good

  • +1

Thanks OP! Bought one earlier today.

Blacktown Westfield (franchise) had none (they always claim to have none when there's a decent sale, and try to upsize you)
Blacktown MegaCentre had plenty of stock.

Rather impressed with the unit after trying it. I've seen one previously cheap on OzB but it was shit.
    Thanks again.
