Sorry some kind of dupe may be not.

    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/108473

    • ahh yes, seems to be. my bad

      • All good OP and thank you for sharing.

Your deal is cheaper and better.

        Have a nice day

        Cheers

        • -1

Original deal has same link to this plus black product at same price as this deal. (Price fell $2 from posted price overnight.)

Also has details of promo code WELCOME5 for $5 off $20 - so will be cheaper if ordering a few

So this dupe is unnecessary, just an updated price & less details.
(This deal is not "cheaper and better" as is same link. Just clearer title which lists this bargain rather than hidden in description, 1 bargain instead of many & not posted at 1am)

        • So in other words don't post a deal unless you read the entire description of every other deal in case it's mentioned there already?

        • yes do as he does… lol

good deal though thanks for the post :)

        • don't post a deal unless you read the entire description of every other deal

Not necessary. When you submit a deal, the OB system asks you to check you are not posting a dupe & suggests deals like the JBL original deal posted 11 hours earlier, so the OP can check.

Both deals contained JBL in the first 2 words of the title. Quicksilver & Roxy are related companies, with different markets - reflected in the slightly different styling. And the subdeal in this deal (JBL iDevice dock), was the deal in the original deal :-)

Usually duplicate subdeals are considered dupes & removed IF reported. But most don't look for bargains in subdeals. The original deal was a bit unclear, so this one was useful.

    • That original deal lists this
      & other bargains!! (2600 clicks)

It wasn't obvious in the other post's title. Didn't know about this deal till this post.

  • How does this compare to the "X Mini 2"?

  • Thanks! Been looking for something like this ever since that damn possum stole my xmini.

  • Great Xmas presents, got 2. Thanks OP

    • They will look like a pair of zebra bollocks :/

  • +18
    • thanks, the 2 websites look quite similar

    • thanx- got 2 :)

    • +2

I'm assuming this & the Roxy are identical.

I think Roxy is for chicks…

  • +1

Be aware that this is a mono speaker, although the in/out connectors are stereo.

    • Two speakers on something that small would probably sound pretty much mono anyway. :)

  • Great deal OP. I recently bought one from Kmart for $12 and it was surprisingly good, these should be even better undoubtedly.

  • Thanks OP, bought the black one.

  • +1

Thanks, got three black ones and used WELCOME5 for $5 off.

    • that's what I did too :)

  • welcome5 is not valid. any minimum spending?

    • The minimum spend is $20, and you have to have registered an account and logged in.

You'll notice the deduction underneath in the total.

  • Is it $5 off total order, or each item?

    • You're very optimistic. :)

      • Just read this on prior thread(linked in first comment on this post):
"Thanks OP! just bought 3 docks and 1 headphone! drinking budget for the weekend spent on Friday afternoon!
EDIT: All 4 with 5$ discount each of course"

Can anyone here advise how this is done? Thanks

        • EDIT: All 4 with 5$ discount each of course

Not sure that was for real.
Only worked for me once i'd selected 3x.

        • the guy was referring to the docks and headphones which were priced at $25 each, so he got them in 4 separate orders and got $5 discounts in each.

  • Anyone used these before? The reviews I've read / watched suggest the volume doesn't go up very high.

  • +1

dont listen to music, dont need it. Brought it!

    • +10

      Where did you take it?

    • +1

      Where did you bring it.
      Jeesh.

  • Bought one, thanks OP.

  • Couldn't resist. Haven't bought anything today….Thanks OP.

  • Damn, put quicksilver one in cart, went to checkout… out of stock :( Oh well other one is still in stock though.

  • The Quicksilver black was in stock when I ordered but was cancelled when I checked my account and also paypal account sigh. Just tried again with the Roxy black and white stripe (blah - why?) and that seemed to work. Would have preferred the black but we bargain hunters can't be too fussy. LOL

  • ozbargained =D lol~~~

  • all gone! too slow on the checkout.

  • I can still see stock here from the JBL deal mentioned above:

    • looks to be still available for me too

  • My Quiksilver one arrived today. That's fast, with free shipping too. :)

  • Mine arrived this morning, not bad for a $10 portable speaker.

  • I just contacted them about my order and they told me they ran out of stock. They offered me a refund or $20 store credit.

  • Got mine today too.

  • +1

It's not very loud - tried more than one gadget to test.
Charging it up didn't make any difference.
Maybe they're a dud - dunno, but if i knew this i wouldn't have bothered.

    • +1

I have to ask, cranked up the volume on the source and the speaker?

      • Let me put it this way, with the 2x smart phones i used, each was a shed-load louder on speakerphone once i'd disconnected the JBL thingy.

… of course i cranked up the volume on each piece. Jeesh.

ps. I got 3x of the Quicksilver. At least two are off to the Op Shop for the poor people to buy (was going to give them away, but need to maintain my high standards).

        • Did the speakerphone sound just as full-bodied as the JBL?

        • The sound is much better than the speakerphone, as in more voluptuous like my avatar, it's just way too soft.

I tested all 3x, and they were all the same.

    • me too,

its so soft, wouldn't of bought it if I knew,

thought it would be good seeings its a JBL and their other device were quite good in store.

  • Got mine yesterday, housemate didn't hand it over till last night. My Asus Padfone 2 is just as loud as this junk at full volume, and my Padfone2 sounds better anyway! Grr and I bought 3! Looks like I'm set for this year's XMas Kris Kringles!

    • "Oh look, a cowpat from loveagooddeal, thanks mate, thanks heaps, and a merry xmas to your sorry arse too".

  • Got mine today, it's very good. Quite loud too (don't expect too much from a tiny speaker), give it an hour or so to burn in.

    • Burn in? Wot?

    • me too, like it, and the sound quality is better than my laptop

    • Same, im quite pleased. Way better than the iPhone 4 speaker lol. Shipping was quick. So all in all solid deal cheers OP.

  • About what I expected, similar to xmini. Would've been livid if I have paid retail…Good value at this price.

  • Got mine! pretty good for 10 bucks delivered.

  • Got mine yesterday. It sounds way better than a normal phone speaker. Goes plenty loud too, but distorts more easily than the Altec Lansing Orbit. Those people who find it too soft are either expecting too much from a small speaker, or their output device isn't putting out enough power.

A phone might go as loud, but will still sound thin and generally shrill. This is much more full-bodied.

    • Those people who find it too soft are either expecting too much from a small speaker, or their output device isn't putting out enough power.

You have made a sweeping assumption that they are all the same…

      • OK, so either you got a dud, or I got a rare loud unit.

Or we all use different sources that put out different line levels.

FWIW, I did use a HTC One that's advertised to have a 2.55V output. My spectrum analyser measures it at 450mV with Beats on though.

        • Dunno.
I got 3x, and like i said, they're all the same, and i've tried several gadgets.
Maybe i got 3x from the same bad batch.
Maybe all the gadgets i've tried output fa.

        • Who knows. But anyway, end of the day, volume aside, I reckon it sounds way better than any of the phone speakers I've heard, including the HTC One. I suppose that's what the point of it is… I don't think it's meant to sound as loud as bigger speakers.

  • Get a little headphone amp of you really want it to go louder, you'll most likely just get distortion though.
