One Direction 8GB USB - Now $2 at Officeworks [Warners Bay]

440

I know this has been mentioned previously with price of $3.33 (or 3 for $10 as Newcastle store market it) but Officeworks at Warners Bay are selling these One Direction USB drives for $2.00. There were at least 50 in stock, probably closer to 100. Surely this is the cheapest 8GB USB in Australia?

    • +102

That's weird: I bought a couple but they only plug into each other.

      • +2

Matty, I am voting your comment as perhaps the Funniest OZB comment EVER!

I laughed so hard, and so did everyone else in my household. Kudos.

      • -5

So you plugged them in each other to get a 10 incher ?

Did you notice any improvement in performance ?

      • Comment of the year

      • gold… i'm still laughing, and I've just showed the mrs and now she's laughing :).

        well played.

Officeworks need a better Marketing Manager to avoid buying these nextime

  • +10

"Surely this is the cheapest 8GB USB in Australia?"

Almost certainly. Yet it is still not cheap enough to make me want to buy any with One Direction all over them. The USB drives probably have a very limited life similar to the group :)

  • arrghhh.. just bought 2 last week for my niece !

  • But I'd have to stick two back to back to get both directions. :)

  • +3

I swear if I see these things one more time I'm gonna get a chainsaw and go on a killing spree

  • +1

If only it was one direction… I always stick the USB in the wrong way!

  • what happened to the great review?

  • +8

I'm 100% certain I wouldn't use this if they were free.

    • +2

      You're not a true OzBargain'er then!

      • +13

I may be a cheapskate but I have a line I won't cross, and this is it.

        • Think of it as an OZB initiation ritual.

  • +30

I almost bought one today but there was a sausage sizzle out the front so I had a sausage instead

  • +2

Let's hope these aren't as bad as their music.

    • Wait ibargainhunt, why is there a one direction song in your bookmarks list?! :P

  • +13

Surely this is the cheapest 8GB USB in Australia?

Nope, the cost of black tape to cover the USB is too expensive.

  • My Granddaughters thank you.

    • That depends if their music comes pre-loaded or not.

  • +3

I thought it was spelled "Wand Erection"?

  • I am in the processes of ordering 100 usb covers from china…Going to OW and covering each one(sorry only comes in pink)

  • +3

Can we order these online for $2? No way I'm going to be seen in public with these.

    • Go disguised… hat, glasses, overcoat, etc…

    • +1

Well after you buy one you can fix the problem on the surface of the usb stick with abit of sandpaper.

    • But it shows as $3.33

  • Still waiting for a heavily discounted One Direction Nikon D4…

    Damn those crazy merchandising buggers!

  • -2

And who wouldn't like one direction, these things been selling like hot cakes.

  • Reminds me have to pick up my 99c USB from HN

  • +1

Oh god no!! They've arrived. Everyone grab their neck beards and get out of here!!

  • get 2 of these and you can go both directions

  • +4

    okay…. plus points:

at least it won't get stolen
and potentially a good gift for that teenage girl (sister/daughter) in your life

  • why doesn't someone buy 100 of these and RAID 'em
at $2 each, that'll make an 800Gig* SSD for $200 bux

how about a dual redundant 400 Gig super fast RAID 5 mirrored array! - $200

    *unformatted capacity

add various USB controllers, etc, etc (10 cheapies from deal extreme) and you're still up over the price of a 400 gig SSD nowadays!

    • but it's a bad direction…

  • -1

I bought one of these, got it home and found it was preloaded with music from Goblin C0ck!

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goblin_Cock

Just look at the names of the band members for lols.

  • We got a couple of these when they were $3.33.. the mrs got them, NOT ME!!!
    BTW… hows the footy??

    • +3

im hoping you dont suffer from impotence

  • I will get some for my 2 year old niece.

  • My missus confirms they scan for $3.33 at Figtree NSW.

    • +1

That's because they perform better and give more satisfaction

  • +11

As an employee there, the highlight of my day is when blokes buy one of these whilst avoiding eye contact and claiming that it's just because they are a bargain. I'll then ask them which band member is their favourite. ;D

    • +3

Yes, each sale should come with requisite humiliation. Love your work.

      • One direction USB with free humiliation. Maybe we should advertise it that way? Everyone loves a freebie.

    • +1

To which I can only respond "it goes well with my new kids on the block lanyard".

    • +2

You're insecure, don't know what for.

    • +4

      So that was you !!!

I seriously was going to punch you in the face !!

      • LOL! Were you the guy who bought 2? Thanks for brightening my morning! If you are the person I'm thinking of, you truely made my day.

  • Wave in One Direction your ING Paywave and get a further 10 cents off.

  • A friend of mine benchmarked one and they were very slow.

    • I hope he wasnt comparing it to those Black patriot supersonic ones

    • Yeah some of the guys at work grabbed a few for running diagnostic tools - but performance is really BAD, and that's compared with every other cheap USB stick ever used in the workshop!

  • Yeah, they wouldn't price match at Buranda store. Oh well, at 3 for $10 they will have to do!

  • +3

I bought 2 at $3.33, the picture of the dudes comes straight off. Im gonna leave it on.

    • +1

      That's no 'dude'

  • $3.33 each at OW Fairy Meadow (don't have to buy 3 though)
    Still heaps left

  • +1

checked at Nunawading store, its 3.33 not $2

    • Yes, same here $3.33. Is there any discrepancy?

  • Went to the Warners Bay store and the price tag is indeed $3.33 for the USB stick.
On the same sign, $2 for a One Direction lanyard. I chose not to buy any, this time…

Hindo, you sure you got them for $2?

    • +2

There are lanyards? So, are you telling me I can display my 1Direction USB key for all to see?

OK, I was sceptical, but now I am SOLD. It'll look great with my Miley Cyrus t-shirt, while I wear my Justin Beiber perfume.

  • My Dad (Massive One Direction fan) bought the last 3 at Ryde. Massive One Direction following at Ryde.

  • Bought 3 for daughter & her cousins @ xmas time and they have all died already. I wouldn't put anything too important on these like a school assignment.

  • I only came here knowing there were going to be One Direction jokes.
