Deals Direct Bargain - Satisfied?

In regards to recent flood of Deals Direct bargain in OZb, would anyone care to review their experience and the condition of the items when received. Some of these items are so much cheaper than elsewhere got me thinking are they folding up?

The reason is that, i used to buy from them about 5 years ago and the last order i received is a hell of trouble. i then switched and never look back. i wonder if they have come to their senses and deliver quality.

If anyone care to comment, much appreciated

  • I purchased the 24 photo frame for $5 including delivery - came slightly damaged but definitely worth the bargain!

    • +4

It's a pretty crappy piece of plastic, but seems about right for $5. Should look ok as long as people don't look at it too closely.

      • +1

I was the one who posted that deal after noticing it on a comment elsewhere.

To me it was a complete waste of money. The photo frames were not worth a lot and look the same way.

Mine was bent so when you put it on the all it curves outwards.

          Deals Direct Bargain - Satisfied?

          Bargain ?

          YES

          Satisfied ?

          NO
  • I will let you know when I see mine. Some of my packages have arrived but they're at my parents' house (someone home 24/7 to accept deliveries).

    • +1

If you work or live near a post office that offers the parcel locker service, you may benefit from that, and its FREE! http://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/parcel-lockers.html

      • If they're sent via Australia Post or StarTrack. I find I can't use mine as often as I would just because I don't know how it will be sent.

        • StarTrack is a subsidiary of Australia Post, and parcels carried by StarTrack accepted for delivery into Parcel Lockers.

my dealsdirect stuff got delivered by couriers please. not sure about them.

        • Indeed, in the start they were flexible then changed the T&C to be only their own companies. They sent out a survey shortly after and I made sure I let them know what I thought of that idea. I believe they will accept others sometime in the future, but you would need to be a paid subscriber for that option apparently …. boooo

  • +1

My $1 cushions arrived, quality is meh, but given the price I certainly can't complain!

  • 2 x $10 suits. Wasn't expecting anything great but surprisingly, they are ok. Probably what you'd pay $130 for at Roger David or the like.
Also got the true religion shoes for $10 and they were exactly as they appeared in the advert. Would never really wear them but being a sucker for a sale i now have some space fillers…

  • All my stuff arrived promptly…One item was squished but it was only the cardboard box which was affected. Otherwise I can't really complain with that because it was wax strips..lol

    • +1

Yep, we got our squished wax strips too. No complaints here - I don't mind a bent box given the price difference!

My 30% off and free delivery rug also arrived promptly - love it. Absolute bargain and just what I was after.

Still waiting on a couple of things from the latest sales but I figure they will be a tad slower with sheer volume of sales…so don't mind waiting a few more days for the stuff.

    which website is this?

    • +16

      Are you a moron?

  • +4

My food chopper came. I tried it and the blades weren't sharp enough to even cut through a tomato.

    • +1

Try something harder before you throw it away. It may not work with soft skins very well.

    • The mouse grater is likewise a useless piece of junk, I'll probably bin it. Lucky I only paid $2 for it. Everything else so far has been good for the price, I'll post a proper review once more has arrived (it's taking ages to get to Perth…)

      • +6

Try it on a harder mouse before you throw it away. It might not work well with a softer mouse ;)

        • +2

i think you need a greater grater.

        • +1

          a rat grater?

        • +1

These puns are really grating on me.

        • I thought these puns were pretty grate :) excuse my engrish :P

  • +3

To me most of the $5 stuff is junk. I regreted that I bought 4 of them!

  • +1

I got some tubs of wax and wax strips for my gf and they are the exact same product that the supermarket sells, except instead of paying $16.50 I only paid $3.90 for them. Arrived within 5 days of ordering I think, pleasantly surprised at these guys so far. Got another few orders on the way too.

    • +2

Any pics to show how well they wax?

      • Eww, why would you want to see pics of hairy wax?

      • +2

I'll send you some pics of my nose hair, just because you asked nicely.

      • No idea why you would want to see that =...works fine though.

  • My wok came perfectly packaged too

    • +3

      what's a wok?
-something you throw at a wabbit.

  • I placed an order on the 2nd July, and it is still showing as 'packing' and hasn't been shipped. Is this normal / anyone elses experience?

I ordered the Viva shower scrub multi pack, Glade candle multipack and a Gilette fusion razor.

    • +2

A lot of my items are the same and haven't been shipped (whereas others have), they would have had A LOT of orders so I'm going to give them more time.

    • -1

I'm getting concerned now. A lot of my items from 2nd July are still marked as packing. I emailed customer service re one item from 27th June which was also still marked as packing, and got this response:

      "Thank you for your email.

Our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.

Unfortunately, this is now out of stock and a full refund is being organised for this.

If you will be needing any further assistance, feel free to let us know.

      Have a great day."

  • +1

I made a complaint as some of my orders have been over a week.

They replied with that they are inundated with orders at the moment.

    Here is their reply

"My apologies for the troubles it has caused you. We are currently running a few days behind with despatch, due to an influx in sales from the promotions we have just had." No worries, it will be despatch shortly. Please expect the items to arrive in the coming days. "

  • yup - long term ' packing ' means you'll have to contact customer service - which will be a nightmare - make sure you're order number is in the heading box as well because they routinely close all queries with order numbers as missing them. Then you can fight to get your money back because they have no intention of supplying the shit they deliberately oversold. Most people who don't get their stuff are further away because they save on postage…. buyer beware company.

  • Pretty good so far. Orders have arrived within a week. Some items didn't arrive so contact live chat and they said it will be posted this week and other item was send my parcel au post and they gave me the track number.

    All items perfectly packed.

  • +2

Received steak knives today happy with them for $2.50 and they send by fastway, would be more than the knives are worth lol

    still waiting on Camelbak bottle

they dont seem to send shipping confirmations, just randomly turn up.

    • +1

They send confirmations if the items are sent with Aust Post, but not if sent with Fastway Couriers. There seems to be no rule to how items are sent - my steak knives were sent via Aust Post eparcel!?

  • I have been getting shipping confirmations. Have not been to the post office today so no idea if any are here yet.

  • +3

To be honest I have bought form them twice and both times I had issues.

First time the Sandisk MicroSD card and it didnt work. They replaced and again it didnt work. (Possibly the dodgy chinese fake onces) I asked for a full refund including postage price back to them and they just ignored me for a few months. After hassling them and calling their supposed "customer service" line I finally got a full refund.

Second time was only last month. I ordered a baby fence/gate with an alarm on it for my dog. The item came half opened with no screws or instructions on it, just the fence/gate it self. They are now asking me to send them photos and pictures to prove to them. I have not done so yet but will be doing that tonight.

If you go an read productreview.com.au they have a pretty bad rep, with poor customer service mainly and items being either dodgy, old or not working.

Their shipping times and prices are pretty good though.

  • +3

received my nespresso pods and nads hair removal strips today. (long night ahead)

    • +1

      nespresso compatible pods are reasonable.

  • +1

Got my convection cooker very quickly and I LOVE IT!!! Big thumbs up for Deals Direct!!!

  • +1

I ordered some mexican looking serving sets. First shipment, one bowl smashed. Re-delivered, same bowl smashed (both poorly packaged by manufacturer). Third time got refund as they had no more sock.

End Result - 2.5 good platters leftover from each shipment + FULL refund. So all in all I can't complain.

Also ordered some 'Shticky' crap. 2X Sets of 3 + Courier Delivery for $5. I'm not sure whether I'll ever use it but for $5 I'm happy. The metal extender rods sell for $$$ at Bunnings. I'm sure I'll do something with them one day.

I spent a GRand Total of $5 on that Sale and got hours of amusement.

    • +2

I tried out one of the sticky lint roller thingies today, works great! Gets all the bits of fluff off my black work uniform.

      • +1

I love the schticky thingo too. Was funny demonstrating it to my mum though coz it was so sticky. Bargain compared to schticky!!!

  • +3

I recieved most of my items, all arrived in perfect working order. Gillette 24 razors for $22 was a big bargain, and they appear originals, My Nads nose hair removal kit worked, and was half price compared to Colesworth. And 18 kilos of pineapple is finaly here!

  • +1

I got a hammock with a stand for $40 it is great. But they delivered by Allied Express and it was a bloody nightmare and I have passed over some deal direct items I would otherwise be interested in because I really don't want to have to deal with Allied Express ever again.

They miss redelivery dates have no depot pickup option so you are trapped home waiting for a package that probably won't be coming when you use the website the tracking is all in internal jargon and acronyms and flat out wrong information when you call you get surly rude call center people that use excuses like "sorry you package didn't come today an email didn't get through to Melbourne". all in all it was a full seven days from the "sorry we missed you slip" (which didn't even have the consignment number filled out) and several unhelpful phone calls and two wasted days waiting at home when when they told me it would arrive but didn't to get a $40 hammock.

How many other dealdirect customers here got their package via allied express? Like I said happy with the product but if they use Allied Express I'm not interested in the hassle

    • +2

AE is SH*****TE!!! I've had nothing but dramas with them in the past. Much rather Auspost over them

      • Reminds me of Couriers Please

Didn't have a depot to pick up from, I had to call up to get a re-delivery date. If I didn't call within 48 hours it got returned to sender.

When I did call I got this dopey as woman, I swear she was on some kind of drug.

I couldn't hear her and she sounded like she was gonna fall asleep any second.

        • +1

AE delivered today, quick and efficient. Even carried large box into back yard after I told them to just leave it in the driveway.

      • Funny, I've had the opposite experience. Mind you, I've always been lucky to have not missed AE.

        • First time we've ever had them deliver here tbh.

    • +1

I ordered the hammock too and received the email saying it was coming via courier. I was really annoyed as I was working fulltime and couldn't be home. I rang the courier who told me they will leave the parcel if I leave a note authorising them to do so. Worked perfectly. Stuck the note to my door, parcel was left in carport. Did this for the next 4 things I ordered too!

  • +1

Ordered at 4th July , and all of my stuff delivered this morning. So happy!! I ordered 24 piece make up brush set, 1 queen quilt cover set and 1 double quilt cover set . all looks ok .Haven't really try them .

  • +3

Sent me damaged goods. When I tried to return it, there service was appalling. Never shopping there again - may be cheap but it is cheap for a reason ;-).

    • +2

      Exactly

  • +6

I bought an item a week ago from them and Toll attempted to deliver yesterday but like many people my typical working hours are 9-5 Mon to Fri, so of course I wasn't home to receive it and I had to use flexible working hours this morning - wasting my time, until it was redelivered.

However, whenever I remember to, I make a devious little request of Australian sellers by specifying in the comments "Please deliver via Australia Post if possible as I will not be home during delivery hours and as I don't have a car it is very difficult for me to pick up from the depot". This has worked a few times even when they specify they use independent couriers to deliver their goods so I would recommend it to all :)

  • UH OH… I followed up one of the items that has been as marked 'packing' since 27 June, and got this response:

    "Thank you for your email.

Our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience this has caused.

Unfortunately, this is now out of stock and a full refund is being organised for this.

If you will be needing any further assistance, feel free to let us know.

    Have a great day."

If the other 1/2 of my purchases that haven't been sent are also OUT OF STOCK I will NOT be impressed.

    • same happen as u, but they sent email to me that the item had been dispatched on 28 june and provided tracking number(fail number). today i received 3 emails: out of stock email, refund email and want me to give them a review about that product.
i will not buy it from them any more :(

    • +2

If it makes you feel better I got the suit jacket from the earlier deal, then a fortnight later got the out-of-stock email for the pants.
So now I have one jacket and my socks!

      • Edit: Socks just got refunded for out of stock….

  • got the wife some of the $5 Levis, Quality good, But sizing was like 2 sizes 2 small, Therefore in the pile of unworn clothes..

    • +1

I grabbed a pair of the $5 Levis as well, I actually ordered a size smaller than what I thought I would need (going by the measurements they provided) and they fit me perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised, awesome deal for 5 bucks!

    • lol… you sure the wife wasn't just 2 sizes too big and couldn't admit it.

  • +1

Bought about 10 items in recent deals. 99% happy with goods and deliveries were great(usually within 3 days). Can't complain.

  • +1

Bought a bunch of items worth $600, Very satisfied!

  • Ordered a few items, mostly good, very fast delivery. However they delivered a wrong wall clock for me, the one I didn't want at first place. Made a complaint, still waiting for result.

  • +1

I received my backpack today that i ordered and i am very happy with the quality of it.

Postage was a bit slow, but most things posted to me here in Mildura usually take a while anyways.
More a fault of auspost rather than dealsdirect.

  • Ordered 11 items on the 2nd July, and have only received 1 so far.

The 1 product is good quality and undamaged though! Hopefully I receive the rest and I don't find they are out of stock now - as all the products I ordered were still for sale the next day.

    • Me too. Some of the stuff that still hasn't been shipped were still for sale for ages afterwards. If I find out that people who ordered stuff after me I received it, I'll be even angrier.

  • First purchase on 2 jul, received yesterday. Purchased Jamie Oliver knife set and came in as new and no complaints. Looks like they just ship in whatever the manufacturer sends the item in.

  • Just received most of my shipment this morning by fastway. Stoked with the sheffiled mixer what a bargain!!

Played around with the multi steamer thing. Its ok. Does tiles ok better than my steam mop.

Windows grout and showers not clean though lol

  • +1

My $5 suit jacket never showed up.

    • Likewise, so I emailed them and they told me they'd send a replacement. Almost a week later and I'm still waiting for it..

As I commented in this thread, I discovered that the kitchen scales I got were worthless so I'm trying to get a refund.

      • They said to me they have no ETA on when a jacket would be back in stock…so I just got a refund. Waste of time really.

    • What colour/size jacket were you after?

  • My Micasa Stand Mixer never arrived. No communication for two weeks. Up on asking this is the response…

"We have unfortunately been advised that this item is on Backorder.

At present the supplier has not been able to provide us with a time-frame for the supply of this item. For this reason it is difficult for us to estimate whether it will be a few days or a few weeks. If I may ask, are you willing to wait? Please let me know."

  • -5

Any one with half a brain would avoid DD.

  • Received everything although it was a bit of a pain trying to redirect the orders to a new address. The Levi's jeans fit perfect - though its not a flattering jeans. The photo frame is a bargain for $5, so is the plates set! The gel hair removal is the exact same on I saw on the supermarket which retails for $14. The salt and pepper miller work a treat and the kitchen scale is awesome. All in all amazing bargains have to thank the OP (again and again :) )

  • I ordered two child safety gates on 02/07 and they arrived on 10/07. Not bad.

  • Ordered a 42" dog crate and a rabbit hutch on Monday. Crate arrived today and is actually great, was delivered by courier and still waiting on hutch which was coming via mail.

  • +1

Ordered some stuff, took them 2 weeks to tell me they are out of stock with some items. Haven't seen my refund yet either. I received a couple of the smaller items like wax and a lunch box. Ive been told my other order was sent out on the 28/6 but havent seen it. I also ordered some raco frying pans but I doubt ill get them. This company sucks and I won't be shopping with them again. Saving a few dollars isn't worth the time you waste chasing things up.

  • +2

    Never again.

  • I purchased the $5 Jacket and $5 pants, matching pair. Pants came, Suit never did, they claimed it was lost in post.

    Not very happy

    • +2

Funny how no one seems to have got their suit jacket.

This is the fifth post I've read who got the pants but not the jacket.

      • I got my jacket.

    • Lol, I got the jacket but was told the pants were out of stock.

Got a size 40 charcoal jacket.
      What pants did you get?

  • I ordered the 42L sensor bin and 12kg of cat food. They arrived a day apart, delivered at 8AM both days. The bin has been great so far, only complaint is that it needs 4xD batteries which are around $8 for cheapies. The cat food smells decent, the scent had my cats trotting in to the kitchen to see what's up.. always a good sign.

  • Anyone got size 36/38 charcoal pants from the suit sale that they want to offload?
Mine were declared out-of-stock and refunded AFTER the jacket arrived…

  • +2

Got an ukulele for $14.97, it had a few scratches on it…they promptly refunded me $7.00 and got to keep it.

  • +1

Got a $40 vacuum cleaner which seems (early days, I know) good value. Just posted in manufacturers box with a postage sticker but it survived. My daughter bought some makeup which she is thrilled with. May be old stock but way cheaper than Coles. All in all bought 7 items which came as 7 separate orders spread over 10 days. All good.

  • got two clotheslines and sleeping bag delivered within 4 days.

    happy happy joy joy

  • So far happy, ordered so many things all arrived quick but one still pending.

  • +1

bought a $13 bathroom glass scale (almost bought one from HN for 30$..). Arrived a few days later, box was damaged but item was intact. Good deal.

  • Happy with my purchases - a kitchen scale, a pizza stone and a queen quilt cover set. The first two items took 5 days to arrive. The quilt cover set arrived the next day. They are all good

  • No problem with a couple recent purchases. Cheap, yes. The shipping would have cost them more than I paid for the items and it was fast and I got an email to say they were on the way. I'd use them again.
