  • Good price

Is that at DSE Nationwide or just at that store

  • +5

Great price, but what will you use 80 batteries for? I might try my local DSE later.

    • +1

      Dah…. 10 x eneloop packs on ebay @ $12.99ea - (ebay + paypal) fees = $1.63 profit

      • I got them from Hastings. I probably grabbed more than I needed but couldn't resist at that price. Others in the family can make use of them. Hastings still had about 18 packets after I had made my purchase.

      • Can I somehow use these to power the 10 x PSP3 Slims that I bought on ebay for $380 each a while ago? ;-)

    • +2

I have close to 40 rechargeable batteries and almost all used up. If you have children and their toys…. You will know.

      • +1

True. Some toys take up to 4 batteries at a time. Not to mention torches, remotes, clocks, etc they do add up quickly.

      • Did you buy a charger?

        • I do have 3 budget eneloop USB chargers come with 2 batteries for $12.50 each. It is kinda a smart charger I heard which will stop charging when they are full and you don't have to charge in pairs. Try to see if your local DSE still as it but i think it was on clearance a year ago.

  • +1

80 glitter batteries for colourful decoration on the shelf.

  • Just reserved last one at my local dse

  • Wow nice find, doubt there's much stock.

A lot of of bargainers around this area ey, too bad I'm here for the day! :(

    • Try Brandon park since your in the area

  • Instore only?
    didnt find them online.

  • +1

    Bendigo has none either

    • thx for the heads up wilko

  • +2

    AAA would be good.

    • They are on sale 40% off

      • Couldn't find the glitter, their 8x AA Eneloops were ticketed more than $40.

Got a pack of DSE branded alkaline AAAs instead.

        • Couldn't find the glitter, their 8x AA Eneloops were ticketed more than $40.

Dick's regular prices are a ripoff. Even with delivery at Amazon, you can get them cheaper than 40 dollars for 8xAA.

You can get 8xAA eneloop for just over $30 delivered from Amazon (20.19 USD per 8 pack as I write this, and 9.98 USD for delivery). Of course the cost per battery gets cheaper the more you buy from Amazon.

This clear-out price is of course a great one, but their regular price is excessive.

        • I got 4 of the Eneloop AAA's for $14ish, they scanned at the discount price

too bad these batteries are getting as crappy as other rechargeables lately.. what happened to them ?

they barely hold a charge for more than 2-3 days, these are new batteries charged in that .mh9000 charger which cost me $70

it's the new charger or the new batteries but something is wrong here…

    • +1

Mine all seem fine. Use the MH9000 to test them, perhaps a faulty cell is causing you grief.

      • +1

i use the .mh 9000… because everyone said it was great.. same Keith eneloops, seem to be everyone's favourite but I've anything but trouble..

over 3 separate packs of glitter and non glitter over 2 years.. all have been .crap, I'm thinking if just chucking the lot of them at this point, charged them sell up to take on holidays, threw them in the camera first day and they were all flat

it's either the new batteries or the new charger but something is crap ..

        • Must be frustrating - have you got another charger to try? Have you tried refreshing the cells in the MH9000 to see what their current capacity is?

My MH9000 and Eneloops have been magic, I've got 5-6 year old Eneloops still providing 1650mAh and a fair proportion of them cop a flogging.

        • I'll buy them off you if you don't want them.

    • +1

      ebay fakes?

      • +1

nope i only buy from dse on sale and had nothing but trouble with them…

    • billyb67, I've had the same issue with 2 packs of glitters from DSE using a Lacrosse BC900? charger. Everyone till now sings their praises, now I wonder if it's our chargers that's the problem?

      • yeah it's likely, it can't be that ALL these batteries are faulty right ?

        • +1

BlueMM and billyb67 - you may well have dud chargers - all electronic components and built devices have a failure rate. Billy, my Maha 9000 continues to perform faultlessly, but maybe you have been unlucky.

Two points to consider, and I don't mean this first one to sound patronising:
Are you sure haven't somehow enabled the discharge mode each time you have gone to charge the batteries? That to me sounds unlikely, but have you not noticed changes in displayed battery voltage over time - up or down - regardless of the mode engaged? The displays on both chargers are informative, but only if you look and understand what you're seeing.
Second point is also unlikely, but can happen, and can result in varying degrees of battery damage - that being the charger failing to cut-off at the right point. This can be because the charger is indeed faulty, but also because delta -V cut-off can be unreliable with NiMh batts (particularly with already compromised cells) when the charge rate is very low. In this circumstance, some LaCrosse chargers in particular have been known to completely destroy batteries.

Irrespective of whether you have dud chargers, or at this point some damaged batteries, for heaven's sake buy a cheap multimeter (under $10), or indeed a $3 digital panel meter from buyincoins or ebay, and test your batteries before and after you charge them!
If they've been sitting around for a while and are testing at under a volt, they may well be damaged. Immediately after charging, if they're healthy, they should test at about 1.45 volts and the 'gloss' voltage should still be above 1.4 after sitting around for a bit.
          Hope that helps.

  • +1

Yeah i definitely need AAA.. got more than enough AA at the moment.

    • Try the turnigy ones that were listed the other day. Should be some left …hopefully?

  • Can anyone find them on the site?

  • +1

None at Carindale or Garden City QLD

    • Before DS closed down the search function for low stock on 26th, I posted there were about 6 $20 packs left in Brisbane area. Doubtful if any left now.

  • +1

Just got some in Warrnambool. Wish AAA were on sale, though.

  • For anyone in SA after some, the Glenelg DSE has ~8 packs remaining.

  • +1

Still got 2 unopened packs from when they where $18.
    Don't have a charger.
    Need a charger.
    What charger to get.
    I have a old re-zap charger?

    • I'm the opposite, I've got a Powerex WizardOne MH-C9000 but no batteries.
I should get some of these but it's Sunday… If only this was yesterday or an online deal, my laziness is messing with my cheapness.

Thinking about it, we should work out a time share ;).

    • The Maha C9000 or La Crosse BC700/900 are all great chargers. The BC700 can be had for about $40

      • I've got the c9000 and think it's crap , says it charges batteries and an hour later they are flat ..

  • The Duracell charger from CotD will work for these, yeah?

    • +2

Probably NOT a good idea to use a charger that is made by a company whose primary profit comes from selling batteries. If their charger is good, you won't be buying replacement batteries as often.

However, cheap chargers have their place. If you only charge a small number of batteries, and charge them rarely, the cost saving on the charger pays for the occasional batch of replacement batteries.

To answer your question, yes the Duracell charger will work. If you want longer life from your batteries, check the batteries from about 2/3rds through the charge cycle. If they are hot, remove them as they have already reached full charge and further charging will damage them.

    • Since I have actually used the Duracell charger for my eneloops, Yes it will work just fine.

It takes some time though, and be mindful you have to charge them in pairs, which is less than ideal given varied discharge levels.

  • Looks like this is a clearance line

Was just at the Garden City store and they don't have any and I can't even find the hook and tag for it

  • +1

Spoke with the DSE guy on Sunnybank and he said there was none left and it is already a discontinued product.

  • If you local store does not have stock ask them to look on their computer and they can tell you which stores do.

  • Just wondering, is that Nokia wireless charger Qi compliant? I might get one of those as well.

  • None at Carlingford. The guy knew the product code off the top of his head by all the Ozbargain calls!

  • Stupid question but I always see these batteries on here. Any significance that these batteries do that the others don't?

    • +1

It gives you an island then turn into jet and fly you there.

      • +2

The island turns into a jet? I've heard everything

    • Reputable, Reliable, Cheap and Pre Charged.

    • These are LSD batteries. That's why everyone is hooked!

    • +2

Stupid question but I always see these batteries on here. Any significance that these batteries do that the others don't?

Low Self Discharge (LSD) means they don't lose their charge if you keep them around for a long time without use.

In the past, rechargeable Ni-MH batteries like these would discharge themselves, meaning you don't get much charge left in them when you want to use them, so they'd have to be charged close to the date you'd use them if you wanted to use the full capacity of the battery without it going flat too soon.

This limited their usefulness. Now, rechargeables can be used in remote controls, digital kitchen timers and other low-power-use items without going flat easily, plus stored for ages while retaining their charge well. Plus they can be used in the cold successfully. All Ni-MH batteries can provide more current discharge because they have less internal resistance than alkalines, not to mention are far less likely to leak than alkakline disposables (I have yet to see one leak).

eneloop are quality batteries made in Japan, but be careful of fakes on ebay, etc. They aren't the only Low Self-Discharge batteries available, but probably the most popular since they were the first of their type to be marketed and sold.

  • Helensvale had a three packs left. I took one, so down to two now.

  • None at Rockdale NSW. They do have 2 different glitter 8-pack Eneloop with sticker price of $42.95, with 40% discount, still cost $25.77. No deal :(

  • Tons (didn't count but estimate 20-30?) left a Tweed Centro DS not left a Tweed City.

  • OMG BBQ, the bachelor life is over for my $19.99 glitter pack.

  • Got a pack at DS Caroline Springs about an hour ago, they had 13 in store, 10 were on hold and 2 was reserved by staff member for himself.

  • Nada south east Melbourne..
Apparently heaps at pakenham, sheperton and mnt gambia if that helps..

  • About 20 packs left at Menai NSW. Go for it!

  • +1

7 packs left at Woodridge / LOGAN CENTRAL at 2pm.

    • 3 left when I dropped by. 2 now.

  • That was a true bargain, got two from SOR in Perth. Use that code perhaps to check store stock, some real bargains in DSE today!

  • Freo WA still has around 20 packs

  • Haven't they been $9.95 for an 8 pack before?

    • +3

Nope. $19.95 maybe for an 8 pack ??

      • Oh wow.. Guess DSE will have been ozbargained by now.

I'll bet the DSE clerks know you guys by name.

    • Never!

  • +2

None in Northland, greensborough, highpoint, moonee ponds unfortunately :(

    • Greensborough had color ones as $19.98 for the past 4 weeks as shop special that's probably why they don't have them in stock at all.

  • Awesome just grabbed 3 pack.
Good thing I dodged that Hobbyking AA deal from days a go.

  • 20x on the shelf of purple/black
20x on the shelf of pink/silver

    heaps of regular AA/AAA whites

Marion SA. That is, if anyone can be there in the next 6 minutes.

  • Some one in Melbourne is buying all the packets.
I went to two DSE and they had none.

Not fair… I actually need batteries, not buying them for selling.

    • +1

As if - you can put together all the mobile power you need with a band-aid and some paper clips!

      • Yeah very nice but its not nice to broden everything. Whats the point of oz bargain if a few are going to buy out everything to resale?

        • +1

A lot of Assumptions there Macca!:
          1. you're assuming they had stock
          2. you're assuming only a few people have bought lots
          3. you're assuming they're buying to resell not use themselves.

        • +1

Person told me someone came in and bought them all. I was there the other day and they had heaps. Other DSE store near by said the same thing and they had a few also.

Must need a lot of batteries.

        • Yeah it sucks. I think that is against the spirit of sharing but what can ya do. Good luck finding some stock, I just purchased what I needed :)

  • Missed out…

Any ideas when the rouge ones will be on sale again?

    Delivery kills the deal. x_X

  • I was there yesterday and they were $26 after 40% discount?! Maybe I should take back to DSE broadway as I haven't opened them yet!

  • 1-2 packs left at INGLE FARM SA.

  • Picked up the last 4 packs at Springfield Qld. Bought 2 then went back half an hour later for the other 2.

For the price you can't beat it.

    Thanks OP!

  • Picked up 3 packs from Runaway Bay (QLD) around 2pm … they had about 10 packs still out at that time… they were right next to the $40 8 packs of the normal single colour Eneloops …

  • Man, knew I should have got them scanned!

  • nice price

  • Got 2 packs from Hastings early this afternoon! Also bought the charger with 40% off. Thanks OP!
