I can do it for $2 if you need it unlocked pretty quick … but there are cheaper prices around for it on Ebay.

      • Hi Bagman,
I have zte Telstra phone. Can you unlock it? Please let me know

OS: Android v2.3.6 (Gingerbread) -no thanks.
Even Huawei Y201 has ICS, bought at $25 after FlyBuys points & 5% ING rebate. Happy with it at that price.

      • whilst only released in in Jan 2012 it looks at least 5 years old. big and bulky. aesthetically not pleasing.

1+ for Y201 - flashed mine with CM10.1 (JB 4.2.2) and now its running smooth as :)

        • where did you acquire CM10.1 from?

        • teach us how to do that, master!

        • I failed to flash my two Y201 with many methods.
          Please share your experience.

See here regarding No|Name's CM10.1 for Y201. (Use Gooogle Chrome to translate the page)

Its not 100% stable release but my phone seems running fine now. Previously the phone was rebooting periodically and I was advised its might be for a Baseband configuration issue (didn't get a chance to research) but I turned off "Use 2G only" option from Settings and phone is not rebooting so far.

You can also try PACman rom from here. It does have some cool features like HALO and PIE. But PACman ROM seems very laggy on my Y201 probably because Y201 doesn't have enough grunt…

So I swithced back to CM10.1 and loving the smoothness of JB - specially the stock android browser is pretty fast (faster than the Boat Browser) and the stock Keyboard is also pretty good.

Of course you will need to root your phone and install CWM recovery first to able to flash the ROM.

Hope this will help but let me know if you require more clarification. Also check Whirlpool Forum for more details (I'm still a newbie in Android world)

spend $5 extra on the y201 at coles next time it is on special

I got this LG phone for my dad. It sucks. The screen is tiny and blurry.

On the other hand, the Huawei Y201 selling for $39.50 at Coles from time to time is a good toy. I got one as a spare phone, and another as an IP camera.

    • I was thinking of buying this LG as an Ip camera what apps do you recommend for using your phone as an ip camera?

  • Thinking of the Huawei Y201, does anyone have one they don't want or need? Will be willing to buy a new one at cost price, preferrably in or near northern suburbs in adelaide to save buggering around with postage.

Didn't grab one when they were on sale and now I need one as my current phone is buggered. Go figure.

    • Coles has it on sale quite regular now. Just wait.
Alternatively, Huawei G300 around $79 would be an excellent choice for Android phones at entry/medium level

  • damn, i got excited and thought it was the L3 II… was going to get one. But this phone looks like crap specs wise. Wasnt looking for a world beater, just want to use it as a GPS tracker, but the software i wanted runs on 4.0+

  • bought 2 of them last night then 3 today and got 17c per liter off fuel voucher as well you cant go wrong at 35 bucks and $1.60 each to unlock.

    • wow what are you going to do with 5 of them?
      lots of cheap ip cams?

Thinking about one for that purpose but also wonder how well custom ICS runs on it

      • well my mates phone stop working so i tracked this down. Then when i saw it i couldnt help myself, i got 1 for my ex and 1 for my gf in the Philippines and 2 spare.

  • the telstra website specs and link in the OP are for the newer version of LG Optimus L3 II whereas the one that Woolworths is selling is the first generation of LG L3
