Can confirm, don't need to buy anything else. I just walked in, showed the code to the manager, and she gave me a large chips. Didn't print it out, just on my phone.
Felt like a real Ozbargainer as just before going to KFC I popped in to Dan Murphys to pick up the 24xBecks imported for $39.

Hmmm. as @greydanisel said below that a purchase is needed, which prompted me to read the T&Cs of the deal and indeed the T&Cs require you to buy something at the time you claim your "free" chips.
I didn't read and managed to get it through without purchasing anything. Staff did try to charge me 50 cents for a tomato sauce though, for which I kindly declined. I guess I should get this with a $5 lunchbox or $2 taster box (which is surprisingly filling).
Yes both myself and a friend got chips each without buying anything. The drive thru chick was carrying on about needing to print it out - I kept telling her that if thats the case it should't mention that we can show the email OR print so she just handed it over in the end :)

Same. They said they just pressed the free chips button. Also I've noticed if you buy the all stars box and ask for extra chips instead of potato gravy they give a large chips instead plus the small bag you get anyway.
