Total: $890 + Assembly + Shipping + OS (Prices from MSY)

Not too bad a deal I suppose. Sensible choice of parts.

    • +5

Thanks for the breakdown.. but this deal does not include shipping or OS.

So the real saving here is $2 and assembly..

      • +2

assembly at MSY is $70, so you'll save $72

        • +33

Assembly is the fun bit though!

        • +3

          the f*&^
It took me hours and ages because the fan for the CPU got jammed into mobo incorrectly and wouldnt come out .___.

          AND THE CABLES OMG!

No it is not fun! :(

        • get twist ties :D helps organise :)
          or zip ties

        • +1

          It's a little fun daddy-daughter bonding time…with super-glue and OH MY GOD DON'T TOUCH THAT!!! IT'S HOT!!!

      • It's pretty much free assembly and BYO OS. Might be worth looking at if you can do a local pickup.

I'm more interested in what their return to base warranty covers… @Rep does it cover shipping both ways if it is found that a genuine problem exists that wasn't caused by the end user?

  • +1

Hey BudgetPC, can you give me a drop dead stupid price on a GTX770 (The Gigabyte OC one)and a decent brand PSU (around 750w) with NSW (non Ace Ventura) delivery please?

  • One quick question: All new hardware?

These guys have a great reputation and based off their previous deals, they really do support customers.

  • +2

I've personally purchased a PC from them for my little brother 2 months ago and it was a very pleasant experience, I highly recommend these guys.

  • How much to swap out the 1TB hard-drive for an SSD drive?

  • best place to get an OS?

    • .

    • +2

Which OS? Ubuntu and other linux distros are downloadable. As to windows that depends on where you are, which version you want etc

      • ubuntu if you want a touch friendly desktop setup for a monitor
mint if you want more choices, codecs

but my favorite is xubuntu… Its powerfull and fast, even on old hardware

I just (move) the defualt task bar to the side and use a osx one as my main one.

Looks all apple like with the zoom, scroll menu bar, love it

  • While those system specs look great, in this day and age, isn't it better to have a BluRay reader/DVD-RW combo?

    • +11

I can't remember the last time I put a CD in my PC let alone a BluRay….but each to their own I guess.

      • +2

Me too. I sprung for a BRD in my rig last year. It's never been used.

        • +1

So true. I got all excited when I purchased my rig with BRD, only to use it maybe once.

      • I agree toaster, horses for courses.

The reason I say that is that I recently bought a HTPC and realised after I bought it that a BDROM/DVD-RW would have been better as I could've used the dedicated BD player in a different room (and less clutter too!)

        • Not to mention if you have a BDROM in your HTPC you can region free with software rather than having to get your player chipped.

  • possible to turn into a hackintosh?

    • anything is possible.

      that means yes.

    • +1

If you wish to go that way I'd recommend a gigabyte mobo, just all around recognized as more compatible

    • I do not think you turn things into a hackintosh, from my understanding you build a hackintosh from the ground up.

    • apples osx is nice. based on BSD so its basicly (L)inux so may i suggest

      Install xubuntu
move the default task bar to the LHS
      install an OSX functional taskbar
& install the STEAM store, same games run from steam on linux now as osx

  • 3.6GHz???

  • shop with them more than 3 years. so far so good.

  • How long is the deal running for?

  • I know absolutely about pc's since pentium 3s and amd k6 era, can someone justify that this thing is able to run almost any latest game out there?

  • Could you guys do a build with a Mini-ITX chassis such as the Bitfenix Prodigy? Not sure why gaming builds require big cases.

    • You only have the ability to add one GC to the prodigy and that involves removing the HD cage. Gamers often SLI 2 graphics cards together and the prodigy doesn't allow for this with its rather cramped size.

  • Well, shipping to my regional town was reasonable (less than $50!) so here's hoping it is as good as it should be fingers crossed

  • +2

Good to see another PC build that doesn't force you to buy an overpriced OS.

    • So what do you do then for the OS?

      • +2

Use something you already bought/have a licence for or this

        • +1

or find the cheapest price you can for the OS you want and then buy that rather than being forced to pay an inflated system build cost

  • Bought a very similiar unit from these guys last week, very happy with their product and service. When price matched with MSY it was the same price but this was ready built saving assembly and the 2yrs warranty is brilliant if for nothing else because the unit was supplied and assembled by them so the onus is on the supplier if any issues develop.

    Well worth looking at them.

  • what brand is the ssd in the upgrade option? can't seem to find it

    • +1

We using SanDisk Ultra Plus SSD (64GB, 128GB) for the System Upgrade.

      • Ah thanks, nice choice and value too.

  • I'm getting error messages when trying to add this to my cart…?

    • Sorry for that happened, Please clear the Cache and Cookies in your web browser. This should be fix the problem. Thanks.

  • +1

Hi budgetpc, I was checking the components and realised the power supply is not haswell certified. Is there any chance to change it for a certified one and what are the options?

  • Upgrading to SSD doesn't seem like a bargain. Can get the same one for $110 brand new on eBay unless we get to keep the HDD as well.
