  • May not be such a good deal - current pricing on them is $42.98!

1 Pack of Rouge during the specials is $21.50.

Now forced to buy 2 for $42.98.

    2c saving.

    Cracks open a Chandon

  • How did Eneloop 8 packs go from a regular $20-24.95 price point to $42.98??

I mean Buy 1 Get 1 Free does effectively work out to 21.49 dollars per pack, but individually they are nowhere near close to being a bargain.

    • The glitter packs used to be $40 when not on sale so it's only a minor difference.

I'm talking about regular Eneloop 8 Packs (the white ones). There's no difference between them and these; only the "ROUGE" glitter packs actually have more charge cycles.

Regular Eneloop 8 packs have been around the $20-24 dollar mark since last year.

I've never seen an 8 pack of white Eneloops on DS's website, you sure you're not thinking of the 4 pack?

        • Okay, I guess you're right. In any case, the glitter 8 packs have been going for that lower price since even before last year (or an equivalent 2 x Eneloop 4 Pack (white) would have cost the same), so I don't get why the price hike all of a sudden.

        • Who knows. The AU dollar tanking maybe?

  • Wow, so their normal price is over $5 for one battery

      no paypal

you might as well neg all DSE deals because of no paypal … sigh

      • they got rid of paypal due to them losing hundreds of customers orders

any companies that "loses" orders can get stuffed

As if any regular ozbargainer hasn't got at least 2 packets of glitters already!!! :p

    • only 2 packs…..
i have too many packs still unopened, but hey, they were a bargain….lol

      • Well I have at least one…… They disappear as soon as i buy them :(

        • anyone know if they expire if not used? got one last year havnt used all batteries yet.

  • Around $20 for 8 AA's is a bargain. It's around $20 for 4 Vectra (or whatever) at Bunnings.

  • Any cheaper half decent (non Eneloop) options?

Could anyone recommend the AA charger batteries for Eneloop please, thanks

    • +3

      Ok - simple question, here's a long answer…
The cheapest and simplest chargers are called 'dumb' chargers because they either charge at a very low rate continuously or have a simple electronic timer cutoff. Neither are kind to Eneloops or similar as NiMH batteries are much less tolerant of overcharging compared to old NiCad batteries. Fast chargers that only have a timer cutoff will shorten the life of your rechargeables a great deal.

Traditionally, most - but not all - chargers sold by battery manufacturers are of the dumb variety - but they also sell models that have a voltage cutoff (minimum that you need). Maybe OzBargainers who have these and are happy with them could mention specific model numbers for you. Most of these (unfortunately) only allow you to charge batteries in pairs, but that may or may not be a big issue for you. Cheap chargers with independent charge channels (and other 'smart' features) do exist, and if you follow the deal link I posted above you can read about a couple of models.

If you're happy to spend more than $15 or so, you can buy something much flasher like a La Crosse or a Maha charger. They are quite a bit more complex to use and understand if you're not tech-inclined. If you're interested, follow your nose through this recent thread - www.ozbargain.com.au/node/111802 , follow the links and also search other similar deals on OzBargain to learn more.

  • Are these a lot better than the glitters? We have 2 packs of glitters we haven't even used yet…

    • No.

  • Apparently must order both of the same colour/code for discount to apply.
