Saw one for same price ($29.99) at the local post office just a few minutes ago although it might have been USB 2.0 only.

  • Product Height (cm) 14.2
    Product Length (cm) 18.4

    Hmm… 14.2cm high…

Bought one of these from Aus Post for $29 (? something like that) a month or 2 ago, decent drive with Toshi drives in them.

    • What's the performance like? Do you happen to have a speed test from it?

    • How many USB ports does it take? Just the one? Does running it at USB 2 make a difference?

  • are these good for a wii u?

  • Can this open and use for notebook or any other one can do at the moment ? Thanks

  • Possible to disassemble and install as ps3 internal drive?

    • I have the same question… Would be keen to find out too, if someone here can enlighten us.

    • +2

Unsure of ps3 compat but it can be ripped apart (there is a how to on YouTube)

Chances are it should be all good tho

      • unsure about this model, but generally these portable drives have the USB on board so their are no SATA connections on the drive itself.

  • Good price, but I have a feeling it won't be available at my local bigW. Any chance to match it in OW?

    • +20

we are waiting for you to find out and let us know.

      • Can't find the hard drive on Officeworks online store, so it's likely they don't stock it.

      • searched OW website and found no such product, so headed to my local BigW which shows low stock when checked online, and found there are at least 8 left, in three different colours, pink, blue and silver. Picked one up, although I don't really need any more storage in the near future.

    Review here
Says read speeds are between 38-107mb/s and write speeds 29-91mb/s.

Plenty of stock at BigW Werribee,Queen Victoria Village.
Low stock at Watergardens, Altona Meadows, Sunshine, Sunbury, Highpoint, Broadmeadows, Epping.
    No Stock South Yarra.
This is Western Melbourne search for stock.

    • +1

Just called the Queen Victoria store…they say no stock..
sounds like quite a few other ppl have called there already as well

      • I wouldn't trust them, I've gone in at night time for something only to be told no stock, then read people buying it the next day, ymmv though

    • +2

      Werribee out of stock :(

    • +1

      Watergardens has none.

  • Based on this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyV6-MqLUxA
Should have a Seagate Momentus 5400.6 drive inside.

  • any big W coupon codes?

    • +16

      • +2

cmon mate, don't start trying to have a go at me for wanting to save money on a bargains forum

        • +14

you do realise that while you are pissing about trying to scrounge up a coupon that they are almost all sold out now anyway?

        • -2

you do realise that while you are pissing about me pissing about trying to scrounge up a coupon that they are almost all sold out now anyway?

    • In-store coupon codes?

    • +1

      OP says "INSTORE ONLY"

Use the usual OZB methods…. Paywave or wishcards

      • +2

Or just keep winking at the sales person when they ask you for your payment.

        • +8

That's a good way to meet the security guys.

        • +2

Will they give me a discount?

        • +1

I did that once. Haven't done it again since. You can work out how it went down.

        • +1

You just didn't bat those pretty eyelashes of yours enough :P

  • I'd probably get it just for Nero Burning Software ;)

  • Been trying to call through to stores and got cut off at both before getting call answered.

Maybe I'll wait for these to show up on Gumtree for $50 bucks each.

  • Four left in Bathurst NSW Thursday 4:15pm

  • +1

Good price but has Toshiba HDD in it. All my Toshiba failed after a few years along with my Fujitsu.

  • -7

Just been to Campsie bigw. Got stock but refused to sell that price. Neg the bigw!

    • The deal is fine. BigW Macarthur Central in Brisbane acknowledged that this is the correct price. Don't neg the OP's deal because of one salesperson at one store (or one misunderstanding).

      • +3

If BigW is disorganised and some stores won't do the deal, that's worth knowing, and reduces the value of this deal to the community.

Deal's already on the front page, it's not like people will miss out because of a legit neg.

        • One of my friend has just got one for $30 from Warrawong NSW.

        • -1

It's just funny though how there is always that one person who will neg a deal that has already had numerous positive votes. I see it quite often.

        • +2

Neg for bigw as I said.
I already show staff bigw site which is same code in the display unit. And she insist on lying about online deal only!

        • +1

Your point would be relevant if people didnt neg bandwagon style

        • Why is that funny? That's how it's supposed to work.

        • @Tal shiar:

Have you ever seen a good deal, already on the front page on ozbargain, negged into oblivion and removed from the front page due to people negging just because someone else negged?

I ask because the opposite - mobs aggressively downvoting very legitimate negs to remove them, does actually happen here sometimes. This comment thread clearly being a good example.

    • +2

Did they scan the item? If so what price did it scan?

      • +2

She refused to do that and told me I am not the first one to try today

        • +3

Weirdo, as if she owns the BigW like her milkbar at the corner. What's the benefit for her to refuse all the customers?

        • She want it herself ?

        • The Big W I went to had them on shelves. I was able to pick it up and scan it myself. Did they have them behind the counter at the store you went to?

        • as if she owns the BigW like her milkbar at the corner

Ah yes, the good old I-failed-at-life-and-want-to-compensate power trip, common to retail middle managers and government bureaucrats.

      • They had heaps of them in stock at Sunnybank Hills, and all were scanning in at the original price. Then we realised none of them were actually SILVER colour! They then checked on their system and confirmed that the silver ones come up at the correctly discounted price.

    • +1

Did you show the bigw web page of this item to the sales person? If he insist, then summon his manager.

    • +1

As amy_c mentioned below, other colours are still selling at $98.

  • Checked near me and Upper Mount Gravatt (Brisbane) shows stock but they are sold out. Macarthur Central had stock but not sure now.

  • +1

Sold out merrylands NSW. Stock at Chullora (6) Miranda (5) and bonnyrigg (5) according to their system

    • Damn i went to the wrong bug w! Went to wetherill park based on the info on their website and they didnt have any

      • You were miles too late today anyway. They were all gone on Thursday.

  • 2 left at Brisbane Macarthur :)
    I got mine

  • +1

Wonder why it's only the silver version? There's at least 2 other colours (pink & blue) & they're still listed at $98!!
Anyone feel like haggling/harassing their local Big W to see if they can get the coloured one for the same price? (I'd do it, but I'm stuck at home with the plague….)

    • I asked at merrylands, he said he couldn't do a $68 price reduction which makes sense

      • Well it's a $68 price reduction on the silver version according to the Big W website, so it doesn't really make sense….not when it's just a colour variation.
Not sure what part of my comment deserved a neg, but que sera, sera!!

        • +2

Yeah but the difference is that the computer shows the silver as a $68 reduction, whereas the other colours it would be him reducing the price, not the computer. Yes, it seems logical that all the colours would be reduced (in which case I would have bought all of them) but if he hasn't got the permission to drop the price then he can't just drop the price by $68. Also, I didn't neg you, it was a valid question.

    • yeh same they had green ones but wouldnt give me same price i even offered to buy the usb 2.0….nope wouldnt budge…bunch of robots?!?

  • +3

Sold out at Top Ryde, Campsie, Chullora, Macquarie and Auburn in NSW.

    • +1

There was one left at BigW Macquarie Center when I bought mine at 5:08pm.

      • +1

Non left now, I was there 2 mins ago

  • +3

Called Eastland and was told that someone bought all the drives this morning. Broden much.

    • Well that saves me ringing, dammit

    • I reckon they should limit it to one per customer so that there's at least a fighting chance of getting one.

  • +1

There are few in Warrawong NSW

  • +1

None at Bankstown, blue and pink still scanned at $98. Not that I needed another hard drive…

    • None in Ballarat.
I offered to spraypaint the pink and green ones silver to qualify for $68 discount each, but the checkout chick wasn't interested.

  • Warringah Mall. Rang, as per web site, and was told "it's a crook line and won't get anymore.'

    • So does that mean they have stock?

  • +2

in stock Seaford SA if anyone is interested

    • shh!!!

  • Took the 3 they had at BigW Golden Grove.

    • I called at 4pm and was told no stock remaining. Ended up getting the last 3 from Parabanks.

  • Read and weep…my friend picked up last 2 Fluoro pink drives at capabala Brisbane
Yes you heard me right pink drives for the same price

    • +2

Can you post a receipt please

    • Bastard - but you saved me calling in the morning so thanks - I think

  • None at QV, I just went there

    • The online check disagreed about half an hour ago!

It still says in stock :(

    • Yeah 2nd that none there. Was probably the art the same time

    • +2

Yeap just got back from QV - nothing left. I was told by a staff that it was sold out from yesterday cos he too wanted one. Yet their website still states that they are in stock at QV, what a lousy inventory system they got.

      • Thanks for the info on QV - won't bother now

      • Yeah, that annoyed me too. I checked the website first before going in there.

It's sold out at Endeavour Hills too.

  • Nice post. I'll try in the morning.

    • not worth trying tomorrow, at least in NSW, as late shopping night here. They'll be all gone by then, ie if they had any stock to begin with
