  • I'm finding that UnoDNS isn't as good for Netflix as Unblock US, but it's much better for Hulu Plus, at least for my connection (your mileage may vary, which is why it's essential to trial the services before coughing up). Plus the PS3 Netflix app is no longer supported by UnoDNS for the foreseeable future (linky), which is a shame since the PS3 appears to be Netflix's lead platform and it gets all the latest features, like Netflix Max and profiles support.

    • profiles are available on boxee as well

      • You can access profiles on pretty much all the apps except for the Android and Wii ones, but only the website and the PS3 app supports adding profiles.

Yeah this is kinda stretching the issue — Unblock-Us have the same issue and lack of "support":
      http://support.unblock-us.com/customer/portal/articles/11807…

Specifically, the PS3 app (and only the PS3 app right now) decides to benchmark your set DNS against a bunch of others (Google DNS, OpenDNS, and Level3). If one of those "wins", you end up unable to switch region, or worse, no Netflix at all.

YMMV, but I was getting way more random Netflix errors on UnblockUS before I switched to UnoDNS — their Sydney server benches fastest every time and I have no issues.

The "fix" is to block your PS3 from doing DNS lookups and/or forward those to a different DNS. Unblock-Us's support page lists how for various routers, but the same procedure is true for any DNS provider, be it Unblock-US, SmartDNS, UnoDNS…
