Bad luck guys. Although I didn't participate in this latest Dell fiasco due to a self imposed Dell boycott, I was there for the last one. My advice is to be super polite and friendly regardless of what you are doing. Take notes of what you say to them in a diary regardless of whether you are opting for the refund if you've already paid. Last time when reimbursing my money they deducted a $5 swift transfer fee, despite my requesting they not do so, instead of direct transfering the money. Not only did they get the final account wrong a number of times it took weeks and weeks of fighting to get the $5 reimbursed as well. So plan for the worst and take notes of what you've said, if your getting a refund then specifically state you will not accept any transfer fees.

  • Dell strikes again. Seems like a pretty cunning plan to make mistakes if they go and earn interest off anyone's money that paid through bank deposit. Might just be an accident and a legit mistake, but it's sure not costing Dell anything.

  • In response to my email, I got this email from DELL.

    Dear Dell Customer,

Thank you for contacting Dell Online Customer Care.

From the given information, we are unable to pull any account or order details.

In order to pull the account details, we require a Dell identification number. This can be found on any communication you have received regarding this order.

A Dell identification number can be an order number, customer number, service tag number, express service code number, case number, or DPS number.

    • I had the exact same problem. Dell did not provide me any of those reference numbers when I placed my order. Internet reference number was the only form of reference I got from Dell and apparently its not sufficient

  • Has anyone who paid by direct deposit recieved their money back?

    • Yup, me too. Too little, too late, one senses.

  • got the same mail, 90 bucks for the mouse…..LOL will never purchase from DELL…never

  • +4

Just got the e-mail too, not happy though. My first reaction was "are you serious?"

They should have just let it go.
First round of "if you want to continue purchasing at $119, e-mail us" already smelt of bait and switch.

Now a second round offering "goodwill" We get sent another e-mail of "we would like to offer it to you for $90"

It's the psychology behind it that's going to get them sales.. lots of people are goin to be like.. omg $20 off + cheaper than MSY, buy buy! However, how many of these people would have bought it at this price $90, if it was the original price?

  • +1

got the email too… load of crap

but i do love their ultrasharps

  • +1

    lol… just lol

  • +4

Yeah got the email too. I was like omfg you can't be for real. They just look bloody pathetic. It's been like 3 weeks and they're still trying to bargain with us. I replied saying

"I don't want the bloody mouse anymore ok!? I JUST WANT MY MONEY BACK!!!!

YOU STILL HAVE MY MONEY FFS"

Wish they'd wake up. As if I'd buy off them especially when their service sucks.

  • +1

Then some people have nerve to still defend these crooks and advertise for their pathetic deals!
I got the email too. The funny thing is that they ask you for reply with any question but after all they don't even read the emails! They are just looking for the money.
First the claim of price error then try to sell the item for $119 and now for $90!
No dear Dell you are dead to me, go sell to any one interested in supporting crooks.

  • where is my money….

  • i received the stupid email as well, but i havent received my money back!!! everyone already got your money back ??

  • hey, i'm concerned:

after i received that aforementioned email from "[email protected]", i promptly replied requesting a refund and got this reply:

    Dear xxxx,

We have sent a cheque to your address.

However, to speed this process along we can refund you by EFT today.

    Simply provide the following:

    Bank name

    Account name

    Account number

    BSB number

    Regards

"We have sent a cheque to your address" - yet they're also willing to give me a transfer?

anyone else think this sounds dodgy?

anyone else receive such a reply?

    • A hotmail email address…
I don't think dodgy comes even close!
      \_/7

      • sorry, that was my email address that came up (the one i sent it from) - i noticed it only after posting and have edited it now, sorry

Guys just received this from ACCC:

Thank you for your email of 1 April 2009 to the Australian Competition
and Consumer Commission (ACCC) regarding Dell. I apologise for the delay
    in my response.
I understand from your email that Dell had advertised a Logitech mouse
for $34 once purchased, Dell advised that the price was a mistake and
the actual price was $119. You were offered the mouse at the discounted
    price of $119.
The role of the ACCC is to ensure compliance with the Trade Practices
Act 1974 (TPA), which is designed to encourage fair trading and
discourage anti-competitive conduct through a specific set of
    competition and consumer protection rules.
The ACCC is aware of the matter and we are currently making inquires
with Dell. Whilst, the ACCC will not be pursuing complaints on an
individual basis The TPA does provide a private right of action allowing
those adversely affected to recover compensation for losses suffered.
Should you wish to proceed with such an action it would be prudent to
    seek independent legal advice.
Your complaint has been recorded on the ACCC's national database and you
will only be contacted only if ACCC requires any further information
    from you.
Thank you for contacting the ACCC.
    Yours Sincerely,

    • Yes! A reply from the ACCC. Good on you for writing, fenrer.
