    Looks like a great offer
This with "+20GB SkyDrive storage 60 minutes of Skype calls per month"
Seems to be fairly good value

Wondering if you can buy a few in advance to use as renewal?

    • +1

Indeed, OP should have noted that this is $49 for a 12 month licence only.

      • If you're right, so should the vendor - Bing Lee..

        • +1

It's mentioned in the overview on Bing Lee:

          "1 year subscription for 5 PCs/Macs"

    • -1

the skype calls are only to LAND line, kind of useless for most people.

  • +18

You can also add this: "Get 12 months of Xbox Live Gold with your Office 365 subscription"

    http://office.microsoft.com/en-au/offer/buy-office-365-get-1…

    • +3

You also get free games with the Gold account. Bargain!!!

    • If you're someone who does use Live, buy this, sell the 12mo sub for $45 - $50. Essentially get office free.

  • -2

    Interesting:
    http://www.telstra.com.au/business-enterprise/business-products/cloud-services/microsoft-office-365/index.htm?tc=G|E|D|TBP|TSUTE|Product

You can subscribe through Telstra and it's only $7.90 per month for 10 users. You probably need an ABN and I doubt if it makes you eligable for Skype or Xbox Live promotions. It is just impressive at how cheap it seems — I guess if you have it for 3 years that is about $284 in subscription fees…not so cheap anymore

    • +2

It's $7.90 per user per month.

      • Yep. But!! You also get an Exchange mailbox, with 2Gb (from memory). Nice for small businesses.

        • +1

With the $7.90 one you don't get the desktop version of office. Apples and oranges.

        • +1

iiNet Hosted Exchange or Google Apps better value

  • +2

With such prices i really wouldn't understand why someone wouldn't get a legal license.

    • Zero is still less than $49 I guess.

  • +16

also note this deal is a subscription based service which is for 1 year.

    • +4

      This might answer dosada's question

      • -5

        Without double checking it.
        50/5=10 pro user for a year. 10/12=0.83

So you pay 83 Cent per user a month. Whoever can't afford that should never again use a computer.

        • +9

Or I can use one of the many free office suites and not have to wait for delivery nor give my private details to an NSA associate and never have a license run out nor be restricted, nor bother with activation..and save in a completely open source file format.

And pay $0.00 per month with absolutely no restrictions & without supporting a convicted monopolist.

        • Because everything in this world should be free right?

        • Don't tell me, i think it is a great deal and a more then reasonable price.

        • +1

Is this OzBargain or OzPayThroughTheNose ?

        • +5

One question is what happens 12 months later if a similar deal isn't conveniently available? And 12 months after that? And should this succeed as the new model, every year for many more categories of software? Perhaps it's wiser to reject the inducement to hop on that treadmill in the first place.

        • By then, Office 730 will probably be out, and 365 will be in DSE's clearance section (at limited postcodes).

  • I pay that much for XBox live yearly.. as does my brother.. My wife skypes to Thailand every so often .. I just bought 2… Just dont stick anything in cloud storage. ;)

  • The answer is probably 'computer says no', but as this is 5 user, does this mean 5 skype accounts get 60 minutes of credit and 5 skydrive accounts get 20gb of storage?

    • +1

no, only 1 skype account and 1 skydrive account.

  • Bought. Thanks. $10/person for 1 year is pretty good!

    • You're right - fantastic value and a fantastic deal!!!!

  • +8

its should say ****12 month subscription for $49***

    • +1

just realize it is 12 month subscription, when MS start charging subscription instead of a full license?

      • +1

starting from office 2013 and office 365 , which launch in January 2013

office 365 also include office for android and ios

      • +2

This is what turns me off from new versions of Office nowaday. What happen when the renewal price after 12 month is reverted up to $100-$200 per year? I have bought Office (Home) 2010 in 2010 for over $100 for 3 users at home, for past 3 years that's all it cost me. Now for this new Office I may have to fork out potentially $300-$400 for 3 year use? No deal.

        • I cant speak for your specific situation with 100% accuracy but this 365 version comes with Outlook. If you want to but Outlook in a bundled pack, you are looking at around $265 (from jb hifi) or $149 for it just by itself. Where as the home and student version doesnt include this and is simply a once off charge of $129. Depends on if you want outlook really.

If the subscription model and pricing don't work for people in the future, change how you get it then. You aren't locked in.

        • +1

You can still buy a normal Office licence they aren't forcing you onto the subscription model. If you don't like it don't buy it. Not that hard really. It's about 599 for the stand alone though.

      • +3

They are not forcing you into the subscription model - it is simply there as an alternative. You can still buy standalone permanent licenses.

  • OW price match $46.55 just for xbox live

    • Store and Receipt Scan Please :)

      • +1

Haven't received my order yet. The invoice will come with the order. Just ring their support office 1300 OFFICE and place your order over the phone. That's all I did.

Edit: Sorry, OW probably wont pricematch now that the product is OS, unless you are in NSW.

  • What happens in a leap year?

    • +10

February has 29 days, whereas it normally has only 28 days.

      • So is the 365 license invalid on February 29th or December 31st?

        • +1

That's 2 and a half years away. You can switch to Office 366 in 2016.

    • +3

Women can ask men for their hands in marriage?

  • I wonder how much it is to renew after the 12 months? Do you get a discounted rate compared to RRP? Could you use similar sale deals to renew or is this one for new accounts only?

  • Thinking of buying it and will worry about the next year issue after. I would only need to install on 2-3 computers maximum so if anyone wants to need 2 users, let me know so we can share the cost ($10 per user).

  • Anyone else getting out of stock when trying to add to cart???

  • So, are we able to purchase multiple copies to future proof for years to come at the $49 price tag?

    • Now there's an idea. Activate each as required. Assuming you like/need Ms Office (she's okay if you're prepared to pay) $147 for 3 years for 5 users is not looking too bad. Is there an activation expiry date?

  • Out of stock…

  • damn missed out, good deal especially with xbox live.

    • -1

Order from OW online. Cheaper and same day delivery.

      • How do you get cheaper than $49?

      • OW online shows $98 (in store even more)… URL please, for the cheaper priced product?

      • Just checked OW, it's not cheaper.

      • Sorry, I meant order from OW over the phone.

  • -2

If you don't have an XBOX, any donation of the Gold code is greatly appreciated ;-)

  • Still stock in some stores, just none near me, unfortunately.

  • +1

Maybe someone want to sell me the xbox live gold code =)

  • sold out online… With the xbox live, does that mean that all 5 users get a 12 months free xbox live subscription, or just one?

  • +1

M$ really knows how to make money. The deals is great but I hate 12 month license.

  • +1

Hmm I bought Office 365 University yesterday for $99,and that gives me a 4 year subscription and 2 PC/Mac installs, as well as 5 mobile devices.

Also the Xbox Live. Be prepared to wait a bit for the 12 month code according to Microsoft.

    • That's a much better idea imo..

      Thanks for the info

      • It's good yeah, only possible for Uni students however.

  • In stock again. Can anyone confirm it is working?

Personal Shoppers Only. Maximum of 2 units per order. That means no professionals!

    • my order for 2 just went through, 2 minutes ago. Confirmation email received.

  • Any Ozbargainers want to go 1/5 ?

There is also an Xbox live Gold discount with Office 365 right ?

    • It's for 1 account, up to 5 machines.

  • why pay every year for OFFICE?

openoffice is free as is my personal favorite on windows http://foxit-office-suite.en.softonic.com/

    • I've used both Open Office and LibreOffice and they're pretty bad. Free, but bad.

      • Agreed they're not functionally equivalent… But these competitors are intended for consumers (and not professionals who are dependent on MS' implementation) - in this light, they're more than sufficient.

The greatest issue is workplace Vs home document compatibility, but this is neutralized if you select to save to universal OpenDocument ISO International Standard (ODT, ODP and ODS file suffixes) in MS' "Save as" options.

  • +1

Warning for those running older OSs. Not compatible with Vista or XP. A couple of other gotchas here: http://www.pcworld.com/article/2027635/why-office-365-and-of…

  • Done, bought 2 copies. Hoping you can stack them- otherwise I guess I got a 2nd XBL Gold subscription for a reasonable price.

  • got it

  • Got one, thanks.

Not sure if boxed discs or just a keycard.

  • It's a retail box with disk… I got one

    • Just received mine in the mail this morning. No disc. Key Card only.

  • this is tempting…
feels like free office with a 12months xbox gold membership…
but i dont really need this..even though its really cheap!

  • I went for it, I call the UK using Skype quite a bit (the parents still love their landline) so this is a bit of a bargain for me. I've an xBox 360 which I've used about 3 times since I bought it so hopefully can onsell the 12 month subsription as I won't use it… sweet!

  • Ok just to update everyone, if you buy 2 they do not stack (not cumulative etc.)

From that forum, it looks like nothing prevents you from buying two, activate the first one, hold on to the second one and activate it once the first one expires… though no official answer from Microsoft….

  • You're are better off in the long term with .edu prcing of office 2013 and Window 8 upgrade for skydrive. Paying for subscription never make sense.

    • Not sure… at least at that price… at $50 a year, that's what, maybe 4 years at $200
Would that be the minimum cost for a one off license? Then, it's quite likely that after 4-5 years, you'll want to upgrade to the latest version?
Plus this has the added convenience of cloud functionalities… etc
Also, I'm quite confident that $50 and under is going to become the normal price as competition for cloud "office" like applications intensifies

I have a spare for someone that missed out, bought two but now only need one.

    PM if interested.

  • +1

    These are back in Stock

  • I don't understand why it's so difficult to understand for some people.
If you go to the Microsoft site, it lists this item as $119.00 normally. So after 12 months subscription that is what you will pay every 12 months.
If you wish to buy it outright, it's listed at $599.00, but this is for one computer only, not 5.
So, you can subscribe for 5 years before you pay the same as to buy it outright.
The other difference is that after 5 years, you would still have the same version of Office if you bought it outright, but if you subscribe, you update to the latest version, assuming the subscription price remains the same.
This can all be deduced from the Microsoft website alone, by researching other sellers, you will find that there are savings to be made on these prices.
It's amazing what you can work out with a little research.

    • Technically, after 12 months, you could scrap your subscription and buy it again - assuming it's cheaper to purchase new than re-sub.

Personally, I don't need 5 copies of Office. I also never use Access, and could live without Publisher & Outlook.

But then again, I wouldn't pay to 'upgrade' to 2013 from 2010 anyway. I'm running 2013 on the work laptop and I hate the new Outlook, it can't search for shit!

  • Signed for the Xbox live voucher. Says it can take upto 4 weeks to receive the voucher.

  • says out of stock now

If anyone has access/eligibility to a student account (not sure if this has been posted before - apologies if so) :

Microsoft Office 365 - 4 year subscription, for 2 computers (PC/Mac), with the 12 month Xbox Live Gold subscription - may just be better value.

  • Received my 1 year xbox live gold code this morning. Thanks again theearth
