  • unlocked linksys pap2 are around $25 shipped on ebay. and they are quite crap imho. better get a obi110 from amazon

    • The cheap ebay ones are fake btw

    • I have one that is excellent. It is also not fake.

    • Yeah ive got one too and so do my parents and we've never had an issue. In 2-3 years of use, they've never even needed a reboot.

  • Dear sirrobin,

Probably you have not read all deal carefully, it isn't adapter deal, it is one year of service with free adapter.
That adapter from eBay doesn't include any service. Here you pay for service only and get an adapter for free. You get one year of full service (normal cost $3.95 AUD per month, that already quite cheap. And once you paid in in advance for one year you get an adapter for free with $5 on the account. If you bought it from eBay for $25 you still need to pay to any VoIP provider monthly fee (if you need Australian number - DID).
A lot of our customers use this LinkSYS PAP-2T adapter without any complains, 0ne year warranty included.

    • i did read the deal carefully. i was simply commenting that the adapter is not very good and most home users will struggle with them. the Obi ones are much better - the same people who were behind Sipura created the Obi adapters (the pap2 adapters are just rebadged sipura's).

  • Hey Op, Interesting with the free ATA, but for me you're rates aren't that good.
Pennytel has a lot more bang for your buck.
    And Siptalk

    • +2

Just be careful that Pennytel might be a sinking ship. But I agree that the rates at Mynetfone are better. They have been very reliable for me.

      • I have been using pennytel for about 1 year. It was good and reliable. But it failed transfer my BPay payments to the account this month. I had to call them to resolve the issue. I hope it was just an accident.

      • MyNetFone's phone service was fairly reliable for me for many years however:
        - There was a day where the service was lost and calls to them (even sales line) were ringing out
        - There have been days lost because they made a change to the system and my adaptor (purchased from them) had to be reconfigured

        • I'd recommend people stay away from their internet service; after 1 month of good connections, I suffered through months of poor ones, horrible tech support wait times, inconsistent service with days worth of time lost in trying to get the connection going … ultimately being told "I'd like to be honest with you …" and that Optus had oversold connections on the junction where I connected to, this wouldn't be resolved for months if ever, that I should just take it all as losses and go use someone else :S

But I guess for the phone, overall the savings have been quite good (the call quality, not so good; people have trouble hearing me often though not all the time etc)

  • hey Guys,

This deal is just crap i would say ….

honestly and personally … i use my landline phone and make unlimited international calls ( to most destinations in the world ) .. all ISP's nowadays have internet and home phone plans which u can add a $10 international value pack and that is whati have done ..
i am with Telstra and i pay $80 a month for 200GB internet and unlimited international calls to Asia,US,UK CANADA and Msot european countries are included.. and that too unlimited for landline and mobiles..

so i beleive spending money on this service is waste of your money .. and the deal otherwise aswell is crap.

    • Cite? I pay $80 a month for a 200Gb Telstra bundle that includes no calls. I thought the unlimited calls bundle was $125. https://onlineshop.telstra.com.au/bundles/large

    • I'd like to know how u get it for $80? It's not on there website. I'm looking to re-contract at the moment.

  • reply to sonicentropy "Mynetfone have an phone adapter for $15 with $5 credit included".

The Mynetfone rates you've quoted are only applicable to the Whirlpool saver plan.

You can only get the FREE Mitron Adaptor (Valued at $49.95)on the NeoSaver Yearly plan.
    *Note: $12.95 shipping fee applies

    • Go the MyNetFone NeoSaver through their Whirlpool link rather than the WhirlpoolSaver. That costs $5/month but you get a free DID, much cheaper rates for both local and overseas calls, and heaps of free calls (including to mobiles in several overseas countries eg. Malaysia).

Hello All Ozbargainers. Please see below, a chat I had with the company

    Guest 2:36:37 PM

Ok, so if I have to sign up now, how much do I have to pay?

    Support 2:37:57 PM

Once you signed you pay $47.4 AUD for Standard plan, it includes hardware, $5 on account, and one year of service ?

    Guest 2:38:33 PM

Ok, and how much do I pay if I sign up for starter plan

    Support 2:40:33 PM

Unfortunatly this order only for Standard or Local Unlimited plans, it doesn't work with started plan beacouse Starter plan has no monthly payments (and no Australian number accordinaly). You may sign up for Starter for free, but in this case adapter may be bought with full price $49.95 unfortunatly.

    Guest 2:41:56 PM

Hi, then what is the whole point? I am paying$47 for year's subscription on the standard plan, whereas with Pennytel I can get a SPA3102 for $55, and no monthly fees on the 'Free Access' plan, which has better or comparable rates that your standard plan…

    Support 2:42:22 PM

Or may be you may buy for starndard plan now and swithch to starter in one year for free.

    Guest 2:42:47 PM

Sorry, your scheme just doesnt stack up.. You are using a much lower quality ATA to attract customers into signing up.

    Support 2:43:30 PM

We have one year warranly and a lot of customers using this equimpent without any complains.

    Guest 2:44:24 PM

ys, but why would anyone pay $47 for a PAP2T whereas they could pay $55 for a SPA3102 ?

    Support 2:46:14 PM

You pay for one year of service, $55 doen't include any Australian numbers, you have to pay for them additionaly, in our case for $47 you get hardware+$5 on account+ one year of service incuding Australian number rather than only equipment for $55.

    Guest 2:47:10 PM

And your suggestion is that at the end of the first year, we switch from Standard Plan to Starter Plan and then the previously paid $47 can be used to make calls, without any amount going towards monthly subscription ?

By the way, I dont need a DID number

    Support 2:49:07 PM

Well, $47 will be charged for service for one year and you will not be able to use them next year to make calls. $5 may be used next year if anything left. To avoid any monthly fees next year I sugested to swith to Starter plan and use only for outgoing calls.

    Guest 2:49:55 PM

Ok, so you are saying the $47 will be used for service for the first year? But I thought the first year was free, i.e. no monthly fees? Can you confirm this please.

    Support 2:52:35 PM

You pay one off $47 this is a payment for first year service, it comes like $3.95 (monthly)x12=$47.4, once you paid this you are fully paid for whole first year, no more service payments required. You are getting $5 on accont additinaly that may be spent on calls and hardware. This $5 and hardware is a free bonus for this deal.

    Guest 2:53:42 PM

this is not what is mentioned on your deal… Your deal says the first year is free. Why is the $47 being allocated to the first year.

    Support 2:56:32 PM

Sorry for this misunderstanding, in our web site it is mentioned, that you pay for first year of service in advance and get for that…. This $47 it is serivce for first year in advance it isn't cost of hardware. Hardware is free with this deal.

    Guest 2:58:14 PM

Not misunderstanding, it is mis-representation. you obviously are not familiar with Australian Consumer Law. Suggest you revise your advertisement!!!

    Support 2:59:16 PM

Thank you, I will prompt it to our legal team.

Is there anything else how may I help you for today ?

    Guest 3:00:10 PM

Please change the offer details om your website.

    Support 3:00:52 PM

    Thank you for your point.

  • The international rates are supposed to be "exceptionally low" according to the website, but they aren't that good for the countries I call, I'll stick with my current provider.
