The term 'gaming' is a bit of a stretch if its only got a GT 720M….

  • Any specials for i7 gaming 15" laptops?

i7's are overkill if you only game. The Hyperthreading is only really useful if you do rendering/compiling/design etc…

        • Firstly, I'm calling BS on some of his results as there's no way performance will ever be more than twice as good by enabling HT (ie, minimum framerates for Hydro Dam and Central Cavern, and average framerate for Museum).

Secondly, that's comparing two cores vs two cores with HT, which is very different to comparing 4 cores vs 4 cores with HT. Here's a much more useful (and reliable) review of CPU performance: http://techreport.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=86637

The difference between a 3570K and 3770K is 10-12%. A decent improvement, but this is in a CPU test with very low resolution, so I still think that an i7 is overkill for gaming.

Considering an i7 costs 50% more than an i5, that kind of small improvement is pathetic. You're better off buying a faster i5 every year than buying an i7.

      • Its for Compiling :-)

  • Med/Low graphics, it's "class 3" on notebookcheck.net and one of Nvidia's low end GPU's

  • "Overstock Sale" + "Pre Order Now"?

    Huh?

    **EDIT
    NVM. I understand now.

How is this a deal? you can get same sort of spec for $599?

    http://www.mln.com.au/product/?itemID=4557

The X series Asus is the cheapest Asus case. Not a bargain at all.
To call a GT 720 card, a gaming card, Is insulting.

      1. 3320M uses more power than 3337U
      2. This has 8GB of RAM compared with 4GB
      3. This has 1TB HDD compared with 750GB
      4. Even the cheapest Asus is going to be better than HP (and I have an HP)

I agree about the GPU though (and the one in the linked deal is better).

      • 1.3320M uses more power than 3337U
        it is also slower.
2.This has 8GB of RAM compared with 4GB
        $35 will fix this.
        3.This has 1TB HDD compared with 750GB
        really that's like a $20 difference.
4.Even the cheapest Asus is going to be better than HP (and I have an HP)
All cheap computers are the same, they are all bad.

You can get an Asus F500 same spec from JB for $650.

This is not a deal bargain. its standard at $699.

        • Do you have URL for JB Deal for Asus F500. I couldn't find it anywhere.

  • Why no deals for i7 touch screen with ssd? 128gb ssd is better than 1Tb HDD, right?

    • +2

Depends what you're using it for. Despite the GPU they're still marketing this as a gaming laptop, and for gaming 128GB isn't anywhere near enough.
