The best price I found for hotels after searching for while.

There isn't any one site that is consistently the cheapest and it pays to check at least a few; there are about a dozen that I use regularly (I stay about 60 nights a year in hotels). Reposting one of my previous comments, when someone asked me what I sites I use:

      • ratestogo.com or orbitz.com (only when they have a 15-20% off code)
      • hotelclub.com/visa (~15% off for Visa credit card holders)
      • agoda.com (extra 7% off for Citibank Platinum and above, and some other credit cards)
      • lmtclub.com (this normally costs US$50 to join, but there are free membership codes floating around; has good rates for certain hotels, particularly in the US)
      • hotels.com (only when they have a 10% off code; discount stacks with 5.4% StartHere cashback)
      • expedia.com.au (again, only with a 10% off code and stacking cashback with StartHere)
      • priceline.com (using the “name your price” feature; some tips on how to game the system at betterbidding.com)
      • hotwire.com (similar to Priceline above)
      • booking.com (very rarely, but they sometimes have good specials for certain hotels)
      • hotelscombined.com (searches multiple sites at once, which is helpful for getting a general idea of prices)
      • wego.com.au (also searches multiple sites)
      • kiwicollection.com (sometimes good rates on 4/5-star hotels, often with breakfast included and other perks)
      • mrandmrssmith.com (similar to Kiwi above, with a focus on boutique hotels)

And always check the site of the hotel itself, because they sometimes have better offers than any third-party booking site. (Some are even willing to negotiate directly on price, rather than pay hefty commissions.)

I also have status in most of the major hotel loyalty programmes (Hilton, Hyatt, SPG, IHG, Club Carlson, Accor, Marriott), which gets me free breakfast, upgrades, executive lounge access and late checkout, so often the best value for me is to book direct with one of the major chains. Particularly if I can take advantage of their best rate guarantee, use one of my corporate discount codes (which I can’t share here), use points, or if there's an attractive sale or cashback offer floating around. :)

      • CLUBDBZ lmtclub free membership code

  • you should compare hotels on same date.

I think this deal is VISA card promotion and it's top of the existing discounts.

    example expedia.com.au Marina Bay Sands $405 for 15-16 oct 2013 .

with visa card promotion it's only $304 same date

    • I've done lots of traveling and I can tell you that even with the 15% HotelClub will rarely give you the best price. You're better off using the hotel aggregators and trying to find standout deals unless you have a specific hotel in mind that happens to be cheaper there.

The problem I find with the big sites is that there are never standout deals (ie. very good hotels at a cheap price). If you have a specific hotel you definitely want to stay at though they can sometimes be cheaper when you take the promo codes into account.
