VR50

Hey guys, not sure if this is of interest to any one on here but thought I would share anyway.

I got an email today from Virtuix offering a $50 discount on either the Standard or Dual Omni.

If you don't know what the Virtuix Omni is, then you can read about it here or search it up on YouTube. It's pretty awesome and will go well with the Oculus Rift.

Extract from the email:

We are offering a $50 discount on a Standard or Duel Omni through Friday, September 13th. Visit our e-shop, and tell your friends to do so, at http://www.shop.virtuix.com and enter the coupon code “VR50” to get the discount.

If you have any questions regarding the discount coupon or just want to reach out, feel free to contact the Virtuix team at [email protected].

  • For those who want to know. This is a virtual reality type of device. This is the platform you walk on.
    Costs:
Virtuix Omni Natural Motion Interface Price: $499.00
Virtuix Omni Duel Package Price: $1,019.00
US dollars presumably. And this doesn't include delivery:
    Australia: $100-$200 with depot pick-up (http://www.e-go.com.au)

I'm not sure about the pricing model they're using. The Duel package has two devices but it costs more than buying two individually?

I might consider getting one of these if I had the room. Interesting concept.

The Gadget show in the UK made a fully immersive gaming environment with a larger version of something like this: http://gadgetshow.channel5.com/gadget-show/gadget-news/up-cl…

    • I was confused too, I think the duel package comes with an extra pair of shoes but that's all I can see.

For the bargain hunters hit up the kickstarter project:

      • Not sure why I've been negged. But you can get the same device from the same people for less than the retail price listed on this post.

        • +1

You're being negged because you can't "buy" from Kickstarter because the project has already been funded.

Once projects are funded/completed, they don't take any more money.

        • Fair enough. I'll cop that. I didn't know how kickstarter worked. I had assume you could still get on board because of things like: Limited (2 left of 50).

        • That was only for people who put into the project before it expired. it finished with 2 of 50 left. No issue, learn something new every day. Kickstarter prices are generally a bit cheaper than live prices before without the initial funding you would never get a product like this on retail.

  • This looks cool! Someone with a mouse and keyboard is still going to kick your ass though.

    • Someone with an AK-47 will put real holes through you as well… This probably won't help your frag count. But it puts a whole new depth to VR…

      • I have a lot of accessible keyboard and mice around. I could keep throwing them at you and cause irreparable brain damage before you could find an AK47. In Australia anyway… haha
If we were in the middle east that'd be a different story.

    • feels good having paid $250 for it..
