Free Vietnam Pork or Chicken Roll at North Sydney

280

Walking past this store at North Sydney around lunchtime, and they are giving away FREE regular size pork and chicken Banh mi rolls between 11am-3pm.

Gotta love free food, I waited about 20 mins at 11:50am, the chicken roll tasted pretty good.

      Vietnam Pork?

A common euphemism for Canis lupus familiaris. Don't even ask about the chicken.

        Lol Our puppy went missing.
        You dont think……………….?

  • Free is a deal… but otherwise these folk overcharge.
    $10+ for a pork roll…

    • +4

Wahh $10+? i pay $4 for my pork roll at cabramatta.

  • A reg pork roll is $6.90 unless you like to stuff a 12" roll down your stomach that would be $11.9. If two buying a 12" and split in half that would be $5.95 a pork roll. Fair price I'll say.

not sure if worth the trip to north sydney or not

    • No. Depending on where you are:
There's a place in capitol theatre that sells them for about $5.

I still think the best one is at Shepherds Bay bakery in Meadowbank… But taste is subjective

Did you know the kiwi fruit is actually from China…

The ones at our local fruit shop say produce of Australia? Are they lying?

        • +2

I think Baghern meant to say the kiwi fruit originated in China.

I do not consume "MADE IN CHINA/PRC" foods/drinks either! …… But this is VIETNAMESE food.

    aka salmonella roll

    • Well in Vietnam (the war) the Aussies called them "sepo" rolls as in septic…. but these days, these days they ARE Australian food.
Have you eaten one? Freaking delicious!

  • Obviously regular price is more expensive than out west, but what do you expect?
If North Sydney is the same as the one in Oxford square, you can expect great quality (delicious) rolls and friendly service.

    • +2

Yep, we are a bunch of savage peasants out here in the west so obvioulsy we dont have quality (delicious) food.

we are a bunch of savage peasants out here in the west

Yeah, I saw that on ACA the other week… Why don't you move to a safer neighborhood with better food?

      • I think you misread me. There is good quality, delicious food out west (especially Vietnamese food) it is just hard to charge the same in/around the city because of higher rents etc.
you have to compare the prices to what is around.

        • +1

Yes… and the place in capitol theatre is a LOT cheaper, IMHO

    • Yes things are more expensive - but I don't what Sydney your talking about, but expenses are not half of the North out West.

Free - go for it. Normal price - rip-off

  • Everyone that knows good food, knows that Marrickville Pork rolls are the best pork roll place in CBD/Inner West Sydney:

    http://www.broadsheet.com.au/sydney/food-and-drink/article/q…

They opened one in Ashfield too. The sauce dressing is beyond other stores. and only $4.

    • I'm going to reply to my own comment:

I heard Qantas regularly does a "pork roll run" from them.. The order ranges from 90-120 at one time. They deliver for free in that case.

At our work, we either do that, or just Hungry Monday's. $10 delivered to your workplace: http://hungrymondays.com.au/

    • Was just there this morning. ;)

I think Sunrise Bakery or something (on Marrickville Road, near CBA, has a dropdown banner with $3 BBQ pork rolls) does the better chicken roll though since it comes with tomato and beetroot.

  • this only cost $2-$3 in the US, many place with deals buy one get one free
